A curious little spot, bright, clean, and spacious, lends itself more to a fifties style hamburger joint than a bar/grill. I wasn't sure what to expect when i entered what used to be Nick's Hometown Diner. Â What I found were some damn tasty wings. Â Plump, juicy and crisped just right. The hot wings were good, and the garlic were even better.
The service was prompt and friendly.I only drank beer so I can not speak to the other reviewers complaints about liquor.
I have friends in Delran so  I suppose I'll be back. If the wings are of the same quality, Throwbacks may actually be a wing destination. Do I hear the Jug quaking in it's boots, maybe.
If I could avoid giving this place a star I most definitely would. Here goes, I really have never, ever written about any bad experience I have had at any restaurant, but this got my blood boiling . We walk in and sit down at bar table and aren't greeted for 2-3 mins, eventually we get menus and wait for our server. Server was weeded but she as nice and as on the ball as she could be. Now we don't drink much, but when I do decide to have one drink I always drink disarrono or house amaretto if they don't carry disarrono. My fiance and I ordered them on the rocks. When the waitress dropped them off they were yellow, not amber-ish brown like real amaretto is. I take one sip and it burns my throat, we look over at the bar and the disaronno bottle is practically empty but what was in there was not the correct color. So we tell another waitress that we think the bar mis-poured the drinks and could she check, as we were telling her the manager 'Maureen' sticks her head in and asks what's going on. She proceeds to pick up our drinks and put them up to her nose, smell them then walk away to go check at the bar. She has bartender bring bottle over and she smells that and smells our drinks again. She then comes back and tells us it most definitely IS disaronno and we are WRONG. She was nasty about it to boot. Â I tell her I don't want mine, and I know for a fact it is not disaronno, since that's the only thing I ever drink and it never burns my throat like it did. She takes my drink, my fiance kept his. She was short with us to say the least. We are sitting there we are talking about it and getting more and more frustrated about the way we were treated and how she handled the situation. I hate when people tell me I'm wrong when i know for a fact I'm right. Plus I feel that it was unacceptable for her to tell us we were wrong. So my fiance decides he is going to prove a point and order a drink or two more until the bottle is empty and they have to get a new bottle. Food came during all this, my chicken nachos has cheese wiz under the shredded cheese, which it didn't mention in the description, otherwise they were good. His pulled pork sandwich barely had any pork in it at all, but the sauce was good, definitely not worth $9. So we finish our food and he orders the last drink straight up before the bottle was kicked, then orders another before finishing the last yellow one. The bartender has to get the manager to get the new bottle, which is dark brown, the bartender pours the drink then puts the bottle on the lighted shelf and stands there dumbfounded staring at it with the other bartender, they pick up the drink they just poured and hold that up to the light. (Even the bartenders must not have known what they were doing, bc any bartender at least should know what color a liquor they carry should be!!) Obviously even they noticed the difference at that point. So as soon as the waitress drops the drink I ask her for the manager. The same girl that was smelling our drinks and acting very abrasive towards our questioning the drinks, came over. We showed her the glasses and asked why they appeared so different? She had an attitude still and couldn't provide an answer to my question and didn't once say she was wrong, that she was sorry or anything like that. Honestly it took everything inside me to not smack the taste out of her mouth. Afterwards she did take drinks off the check but charged us for top shelf for two when only one was top shelf. (oh and they charge $1.50 extra each for drinks on the rocks) i didn't fight it any more, paid the bill, tipped 20% on the original amount and walked out steaming. When that girl was at the table I asked if she was the manager, she said yes and I said well then do they have a bar manager? She said no so i told her i asked because it seems pretty inadequate that she as a manager, doesn't know her own bar's liquor. The only thing she kept saying was "I smelled the bottle and thought it was disaronno." No shit sherlock, what was in the glasses was the same stuff that came out of the bottle, that's where it was poured from so it should smell the same! Who knows what was really put in the bottle. We are convinced it was some kind of cheap vodka added into the bottle by god knows who. It's kind of scary not knowing what you're being served..... I told her they should invest in cameras, she said the place has cameras everywhere, I said we'll then you may want to check the tape bc that was not disaronno. Or maybe the cleaning crew or your bartenders did it.... She kept saying no, but she couldn't tell me someone didn't mess with the bottle! I'm livid with this punk girl and her shitty attitude and I'm telling everyone how much it sucked. The Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Makers Mark and a couple more all looked too light after we started checking the rest of the bottles out. I'm starting to wonder if it's a scheme orchestrated by management to take advantage of customers and make more profits!!!!!
