Fantastic little restaurant right off the freeway in Bloomington. Service was super fast, the prices were unbelievably cheap, and the food tasted great!
For $18 (after tax) my friend and I received:
One glass of orange juice
Two glasses of chocolate milk (no free refills)
One small order of biscuits and gravy
One short stack of pancakes
One breakfast special with two eggs, two pieces of toast, hash browns and three pieces of bacon
One breakfast special with two eggs, two pieces of toast, and three pieces of sausage
All of the food tasted great, it was all seasoned perfectly, I didn't need to add anything. The bacon was nice and crisp, the toast was toasted correctly...no complaints here!
Our waitress was really nice and we were probably in and out within 30 minutes. If you're driving through town, I highly suggest stopping off and eating here!
As the quest for Bloomington's best breakfast spot continues, we finally made our way to Times Past Inn. I love locally owned restaurants and strive to support them whenever I can. Â While Times Past Inn is a good choice, I think there are better options in town. Â It is a solid choice but just not my preference. Â Check out my Breakfast List for a review of almost all breakfast spots in town.
Positives: Â
- Big omelet from SCRATCH with lots of fresh cut ingredients
- Great pancakes (this is very important)
- Yeah sugar free syrup
- Â Lots of seating
- IWU support!
Negatives:
- Eggs made right, but lacked flavor
- Bacon too crispy so there was no flavor left
- Coffee is just ok
- No real butter, just substitute stuff
- Hashbrowns cooked fine but no seasoning
Just plain observations:
- Crowd tends to be 65+
- Waitresses are straight forward
- Menu has all the basics, nothing fancy
I've only been there for breakfast but I have always left both full and satisfied.
They have many combinations to choose from or you can mix and match. Eggs always are cooked exactly how I order them, bacon is always nice and crispy and the pancakes could be the best I've had.
Service tends to always be pretty solid - the right balance of checking back on your table and leaving you alone.
Prices are pretty reasonable  and when you factor in the nap after you eat, can't beat it!
Always greeted with a smile - I have a feeling that lunch and dinner is just as good as breakfast.
Excellent food, huge portions, very popular local place. Highly suggest the omlettes, but really all of their food is good. House dressing and sausage gravy, especially. Prices are incredibly economical plus there are always 20% off coupons floating out  in the community. Waitresses are hit and miss, though. Weekends are insanely busy, and quite often there are upset kids in the place... but it's worth it!
