Lucca Grill

When it comes to thin crust pizza in Bloomington, you can do a lot worse than Lucca Grill. It didn't blow me away, but it was good. Considering the pizza situation in this town, anything "good" tastes great in comparison to most other options.

The downstairs bar area is awesome. Dimly lit, very towny feeling, and close. The staff is friendly and helpful, like they're actually happy to be there. I'm giving Lucca an extra star simply because of their great staff.

Other than a few appetizers, I haven't really had much else on the menu. To be honest, I don't know if I'll ever get anything other than pizza from Lucca Grill, and I'm fine with that.

I tell people from Champaign that Lucca's is like Jupiter's without the pool. Good thin crust pizza in a historic building.

Lucca has a cramped dining area downstairs and a less cramped, but less historic dining area upstairs. The upstairs dining area is only open for dinner and requires you to either walk all the way through the main down stairs area or enter through the back door.

The lunch specials are a pretty good deal and get made quickly enough for one to have plenty of time to make it back to the office.

The pizza is sometimes a little overly greasy and the sauce isn't as good as the sauce at Jupiter's in Champaign, but I've disliked the pizza here. Everything else on the menu is pretty much fried food of some sort. The chicken livers were okay.

The waitstaff has always been very friendly and attentive.
