I'd been forewarned that the owners can get cranky if you lag or are slow in making a decision in regards to your order. Â Fortunately they weren't busy so all was fine and good. Â Regardless, I'm not a Yelper with unrealistic expectations and I almost expect it at the Old World Italian establishments. Â It reminds me of my Nonno or Nonni. Â :)
I ordered a cannolo pastry to go. Â The shell was firm but not fresh enough to be crisp or crunchy. Â This happens when cannolo's sit for too long. Â The cheese is smooth and pretty tasty. Â I've tried 100 + cannoli over the years and this is likely the most sour tasting one I've consumed. Â That isn't a bad thing if you like that cream cheese sourness that some cannoli have. Â This did push the upper limit of my sour barometer but the taste made up for it. Â
Next time I'll try a sandwich.
I am completely addicted to Tina & Vince!! I'm so sad that I don't live nearby anymore, but anytime I'm in town, I'm guaranteed to stop by Tina & Vince for my favorite sandwich in the world, #4 turkey and artichoke - to die for!! Their pizza is delish as well. And it's nice to go a family owned establishment. The owners and their sons are so friendly and accommodating :)
Review Source:This place is a trashy dump ran by ignorant, no class, jerks. I just moved a block away from this place so I figured I'd try it out, and right off the bat a rude woman (tina I'm assuming) asks me "What do you want?" as if I was bothering her! On top of that, half way through taking my order, she stops listening to me to answer the phone, then starts speaking another language to that individual while trying to take my order at the same time. After I get my order, which was two slices of pizza, I reminded the lady that I asked for my order to go, so she rolled her eyes, and then sloppily throws my two slices into a brown paper bag ... all while still on the phone! I was blown away! This has been, by a definitive margin, the worst customer service experience I have ever had ... AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Review Source:The store owners are definitely from the boot. Â The ladies are very sweet and very talkative. Â I was a little disappointed not to find any Orangina here. Â It would have been great with my mushroom and onion Sicilian slice. Â I was surprised by the amount of flavor with the slice. Â It reminded me of home.
This deli is what I'm used to being from Jersey. Â At Italian delis back home, you can order pasta, sandwiches, pizza, and simple desserts. Â What sets this place apart from delis back in Jersey is their dining area. Â There's plenty of room here. Â And there's a decent selection of imported Italian dry goods as well.
So why only 3 stars? Â Well like I said, I grew up around Italian delis, so this isn't a new concept for me. Â The food they put out is good and good quality. Â But the pricing is a little high for their prepared foods and dry goods as well. Â I'm sure the pricing has a lot to do with being in California and limited access to goods.
Maybe if I grew up in SoCal and came across this place, I'd give it a higher rating. Â But I can list at least a dozen delis in Bergen County that are better. Â However, I can't think of any in San Clemente.
And that's nice to know...
Its really hard to find authentic italian food in Orange county. Fortunately, San Clemente has a great spot for it. This place reminds me of the restaurants in the Little Italy area near my college. They were very simple, where you order your food at the counter and wait until they call you. There were refrigerators where you picked up your soda, Peroni beer or Orangina that you had with your meal. On display, there were very unique items, like special olives, salads, salamis and proscuitto.
Tina and Vince's Deli is just like that, but with better sandwiches. These sandwiches use freshly baked bread, top quality meats and cheeses and a drizzling of olive oil. I really enjoy their standard italian subs and their Mortadella (like bolgona but better) and fresh mozzarella sub. They also have very good pizzas there too. The pizzas are more New York style, being light with a sweeter sauce. If you are looking for a great lunch spot, come to this place!
The BEST ITALIAN DELI in OC!!! Family owned and run-they are super nice and knowledgeable. Always a pleasure to hang out there-mellow, relaxed atmosphere.
Love this place-you cannot go wrong with anything on their menu. The sandwiches are huge and full of flavor (pastrami. Yum.) The pizzas are fantastic (especially the Sicilian) and if you are needing dessert, try their cannoli (chocolate) or any of the other tasty offerings they have in their case.
Only thing we haven't tried is their take home pasta. Next time!
I'm half Italian and I've been looking for a new Italian place to frequent since I moved to south county. I decided to stop by here while I was around San Clemente, but wasn't sure about it considering some of the reviews here about the service. However, let me say that if you've never been around real Italians then you won't understand the culture and mannerisms. They're very straight to the point and they love to make jokes so you have to just be mellow about things and not get so pissy when she tells you that something is the way it is.
With that out of the way, this place is a restaurant, deli, bakery and market all in one. It's really small so don't expect to be bringing a whole group of buddies here to eat. Their market includes Italian snacks and they also make their own pastas from scratch. I ordered a sandwich and a pizza. The sandwich was okay. It wasn't anything to die over, but the pizza was bomb! We had sausage and pepperoni and I was in love. We tried to eat the whole pizza between the two of us, and we got really close, but we surrendered at the last 2 slices.
Definitely give this place a try, but go into it not expecting the greatest bend over backwards service. They're to the point and aren't there to listen to your problems! If you don't like it, then you can leave basically! But seriously, eat the pizza. Oh and if she offers you a fork and knife, I would take the fork and knife otherwise she'll make fun of you when you come back for it a minute later lol.
Have been going here on and off for many years and it's still the same. Very good pizza and sandwiches. Used to have a fabulous pasta salad which I haven''t seen for a while.
My gripe is the same as it's always been...attitude. if you (a) don't look Italian; (b) don't speak Italian; or (c) aren't a regular....you can forget about friendly service. Â It really is too bad, because many years ago, when I WAS a local in San Clemente, I received friendly service....now, all I get is a sneer.
it's time for the owners to retire and hand the business over to people with a better attitude. Â But the food is terrific...
Went there at 3pm and there was line. Â Not the biggest line ever but it took forever! Â I waited with my bf for a while and then I went to find a bathroom to wash my hands which they do not have. Â So I went down the street and snuck into some other restaurant to use their bathroom. Â When I got back to Tina & Vince's my bf was STILL waiting. Â I guess it's the price you pay for fresh.
we got meatball subs and some potato salad to share. Â It is his favorite meatball sub by FAR. Â I think I've had better but it was still really good. Â You can tell the bread is fresh. Â And the potato salad was really wonderful. Â I would definitely go back!
This is a small authentic family run deli that is sensational. It is small but it I think that adds to the charm of this establishment.I love the smell of meats, cheeses, and various Italian grocery items.I also like that the store is NOT gaudy or trying to come off as faux Italian look. (that just screams chain restaurant)
I used to come here to grab a slice of their pizza which is sensational. You can' go wrong coming here.
I'm not sure why it took me so long to try this place, but after years of being shamed by friends, I finally made it in! First off, a million stars for having a vegetarian minestrone, which is pretty unusual. I ordered soup and a tomatoe and basil pizza to go. Both were delicious. The pizza is the super thin crust that I am in love with. I will definitely go back.
Review Source:I attended a party over the holidays and Vito & Rocco's Catering served the best catered food I have ever had. They told me that they were part of Tina and Vinces. The quality of the food was top notch, food temperature, etc. was perfect. They cleared tables and generally made sure the buffet was kept up as people were arriving. I would hire them in a New York minute!
Review Source:If you're looking for a great Italian deli, this is the one. Â Can't go wrong with any of them. Â For the vegetarians try the Caprese Sandwich and Eggplant Parmesan Sandwich -- delicious. Â The thin crust pizzas are great too. They're pretty close to what you would get in New York. Â My husband loves their pastrami and their sausage and peppers sandwich. Â On days when I am asked to make lasagne for my family, I make a trip to Tina and Vince's to get my home-made pasta. Â Yes, they sell the fresh pastas too! Â I also buy a tub of the ricotta cheese. Â It's not like any of the ricotta cheese you'll find at the grocery stores. Â This ricotta will make your lasagne taste even better. Â
Someone described Tina as a sassy lady but I think she adds charm to this place. Their soups are also all homemade. When my youngest was
a baby, I would  order their lentil or green pea soup and he would devour it.
Tina and Vince Italian Deli is a gem. If you go there at lunch time, be prepared to stand in line but know this, every bite is worth the wait.
Literally almost ran out of gas trying to get to this place from our outing in San Diego today... SO WORTH THE RISK! We walked in 5 to 8 pm on a Saturday and was welcomed with a big HELLO and a vibrant little, Italian lady that reminded me of my own mam-ma! Â
We only ordered sandwiches, but it was Delicious... Fresh (REAL) Italian bread (not a hoagie, or a hot dog bun...) and the meat was thinly sliced and scrumptious! The last time I asked for "Cappicola" or "Mortadella" at a sub place in Irvine, they looked at me as though I spoke another language and asked if I needed more time to order!
I also noticed a great selection of sicilian/greek olives, artichokes and pastas. They have coolers stocked with all different types of beer... grab one, sit down at a table and relax and wait for your food.
If your looking for a true, Italian sub, made by a real Italian family... Go here! It's worth the drive! I'll be back... Possibly tomorrow... Are you open Easter Sunday???
It is sad how things change. I randomly stopped at this place a couple years ago and really liked the food. the #8 peppers & provolone was a testament to this being an authentic Italian Deli like back East...........but I recently went back and my experience was much different. First of all there was 1/2 as much meat and cheese on my sub, when I asked for extra the woman behind the counter seemed angry?! She became even more upset when I asked if she would put it in the oven for a few minuits. I did go back 2 more times because of my first experience but sadly enough my last 2 visits were similar to my 2nd visit.
Review Source:BOTTOMLINE: Delicious, flavorful variety of food at an amazing price. Everything is freshly cut and baked.
Every time I drive by around lunch, it seems this place has a line out of the door. This means a few different things, (1) expect a wait and (2) it's well worth waiting for with the delicious food you end up with.
The owners of this place seem like the genuine Italian type and the food definitely has the feel of the homeland touch. I can say one thing for sure, they get you in and out as fast as they can. This is true, even is the customer experience is somewhat tainted by the  "rush rush".
This stop should be tried at least once, if not once a month minimum. If you have the opportunity - TRY A DESSERT Mmmmmmmm
They were actually pleasant at the time I called in the order, although after reading previous reviews I was prepared for the worst!
I ordered the italian sandwich #2 and a lasagna. The sandwich was cold, probably because it is a cold sandwich. The bread was good but the meat had a lot of chewy tendons.
As I picked up the order, I noticed they actually heat their refrigerated lasagnas in the microwave. Frankly, this brings their score down to a zero to me. To me, it is unacceptable to eat reheated food especially when there is an expectation of a great meal.
If I was to compare it to other italian delis this just doesn't compare and it would be a shame to rate it any higher so NO SOUP FOR YOU!
Very tasty, gigantic sandwich on fresh bread that did not get soggy as I ate it. Â Besides the sandwiches and pizzas, a little grocery of imported Italian goods. Â Outdoor seating. Â Cash or debit only. Â Unsweetened bottled tea, which I never seem to be able to find. Â All in all a great place.
Review Source:Just when you think you have Italian meats and cheeses deli style all figured out...and it just can't get any better. Â At least not in such a tiny beach town that seems all surfers and tile roofs...right?
No...I was so wrong.
Due to a recommendation, we came here to try out the sandwiches and goodness my! Â This place rules! Â The service is quick, homestyle, fresh, and funny! Â The food is delicious! Â I have come back so many times because I keep craving a juicy meaty loaded tasty sandwich made to perfection and consistency every sing time!
I love it! Â I haven't tried the fresh made pastas and pizzas yet, but there is a refrigerator where you can take it home uncooked and freshly cook it yourself. Â So awesome!
Thank you Tina and Vince! Â I love you!
YUM! Â I vividly remember my ex-boss picking up cannoli from this tiny Italian (Sicilian, to be exact) bakery and bringing them to work for us. He never told us what the name of the place was, but thanks to Yelp I was able to track it down. On a recently trip down to San Clemente, we decided to pop in and eat lunch there.
I ordered an italian sandwich with mortadella and cheese. The bread was perfect and the mortadella was just as I expected. What I really liked was the dressings that they put on the sandwich. It was scrumptious! And the service was very fast as they were ready in less than 2 minutes after we sat down at our table. The people were very friendly as you would expect from a family-run business.
To our disappointment, the cannoli were no where to be found in the case, but luckily, they had some hiding in the back! We all let out a huge sigh of relief. I noticed some other customers saw ours then proceeded to go back up to the counter to order some.
They taste just as good as I remember! You have a choice between regular ones and chocolate-covered ones. I prefer to stick to the regular ones.
The store also carries lots of Italian canned goods, frozen ravioli, homemade pasta sauces, pesto, and marinated mushrooms & tomatoes in glass jars. We noticed that they also make a lot of pizza there. We will definitely be back, so maybe we'll give it a try next time.
----Taste: 3 stars ----
-fresh
-authentic italian taste, definitely no generic subway taste here
-Though it was good, I do not think i will be coming back because there is nothing too unique about the food. Â It needed an extra "kick"
- a bit bland
----Quality : 4 stars ----
-the large sub is a little smaller than subway's foot-long . Â The filings such as meat and cheeses is adequate (more than subway fillings but definitely not heaping)
-bread: was okay. a generic white sub bread. Â would have liked to see a larger selection of breads to choose from such as ciabatta, Focaccia , etc. Â
----Cost : 4 stars ----
about $6 to $7 for a large sub
----Service 5 stars ----
Very attentive. Explained the menu  very well if we had questions.  Service was fast
I'm seeing lots of love for the sandwiches but the pizza was pretty good. Â Tomato sauce tasted like real tangy tomatoes and a good amount of basil. Â Crust was thinner with a good pull to it.
After polishing off all but one slice one of the 4 or 5 people behind the counter asked if I liked the pizza.
"It was really good," I said.
"The best you ever had."
don't know if I can agree with that but certainly the best pizza I tried in San Clemente.
We recently moved back to San Clemente after living in Boston for 3 years which offered a plethora of authentic Italian food to the point where we were burned out on Italian.
But Tina & Vince's is so good, we have to go there at least once a week. Â My new fave is the #2 Italian sub, the perfect blend of prosciutto, salami, lettuce and oil & vinegar. Â And the freshly baked soft sub roll. MMMMMMMMM......
The cannoli is delicious as ever, the filling is perfectly creamy and not too sweet but with the right amount of chocolate chips. Â Prices can't be beat here. Â You can have a yummy meal here for the same price as a fast food joint. Â So come here instead!
I love this little place. They serve single serves of baked pasta dishes and pasta salads etc. My bf and I each had a sandwich on a roll. THey were delish! My bfs sandwich came with marinated/roasted peppers sooooooo good! they also sell jarred and canned italian staples. Its definitely family owned and the older woman is a sassy little lady. Â But they are all super friendly and can be very very helpful!
You can use a card but they charge a service fee and it has to be an atm card
I don't live in San Clemente, and that's probably a good thing, because I'm pretty sure I'd take all of my meals from Tina and Vince. Â I came in with friends during a beach day visit, and the staff was so kind, definitely a family-owned, family-run business. Â You can tell running this place and cooking this food is a labor of love for them.
We had a pizza, VERY generously portioned for the price...and it was just...a WORLD of flavor. Â I've never been to Italy, but I hear this is close to what the pizza is really like, and I have to believe it. Â The mozzarella was so copious and fresh, it just melts like butter on the tongue...and don't get me started on those fresh, tender artichokes and roasted red peppers and tomatoes...I'm literally salivating just thinking about it.
I can't WAIT to go back, this food is so affordable for the size and taste. Â Next time I'm going to try the eggplant parmigiana sandwich...and I might need to buy some of those homemade jarred sauces and pastas, they were singing to me from the fridge cases like sirens on the sea...
Shoot. Â Tina and Vince, will you open a branch in Koreatown, please?!
Best Italian deli ever. They have amazing sandwiches and I especially enjoyed my Italian sub. They have amazing and delicious freshly made frozen pasta and fresh sauces and you can order pizza. You can eat there or take food to go down to the beach and the place is really popular with the locals. Be prepared to stand in line, but it's totally worth it.
Review Source:This place truly is very good.
The cold sub was one of the best I've ever eaten. Â Maybe the best. Â Nice plain bread with imported salami, proscuitto, capicolo, provelone and pepperoncini with just the right amount of olive oil and lettuce. Â Wow.
Meatball here - good
Chicken parm hero - chicken cutlets may have been a day old and a few were tough. Â Otherwise good.
Sicilian pizza - good.
Pizza - dough was ok - Â sausage was a bit skanky - otherwise good.
No credit cards for sure. Â ATM and cash.
This is my favorite little Italian deli in O.C. Tina and Vince sure know how to make a sandwich, soup, pasta, or whatever other little Italian treat your heart desires. They even freeze some of their homemade pasta. So you can always take it home and lie to whoever you're cooking it for and say you made it yourself. Tina is a sassy little Italian lady, so when it's your turn to order you better know what you want, and I highly recommend a turkey and provolone sandwich. Mmmm...
