From the outside, this place doesn't look like it would be offer great food....but it really does.  Garage salad is the best.  I've tried 4 different plates and all have been great.  Bar is kind of small, and is usually busy on weekends.  Try this place for dinner and stay for drinks.

I really enjoy coming here for a good meal! You drive down cermak road and see chilis and olive gardens lot ful, but the Pub is only half full and it totally makes NO sense! Have come here on many occasions and always have a meal that tastes really good! My favorite is the chicken giardinara

Favorite hot spot for Loyola Hospital employees! We love coming here for dinner and drinks after work! The "family owned" diner feel is awesome! Love the servers, and the food is great! My favorite is the grilled chicken (anything with it on!), especially the sandwich with the grilled onions! The drinks are good, the beer is cold! What more do you need!?

    Restaurant Review
Flat out terrible. I was completely surprised at the high ratings for this pub food. I ended up heading out here for lunch given some of the positive reviews and left disappointed. The restaurant itself is open for lunch so the hours of operation on yelp are not correct. The pub itself definitely resembles a hall in the wall bar. Service was prompt. I ended up going with the pub burger and it was flat out one of the worst burgers I have ever had. I ordered my burger medium rare and it came back almost well done except for one area of pink. The burger itself had no meat flavor and tasted like charcoal. Furthermore it came with a burger bun straight out of your local grocery store and a meager slice of lettuce. No tomato or other garnishment. The cottage fries were overfried slices of potatoes, I would have been better off ordering normal fries. The only redeeming part of this meal was the free bread basket. I am not sure about the other items on the menu, but even McD burger was better than this.....

Pro- free bread basket, no other pro's I can think of

Con- flat out worst burger ever, I can make one better on my griddler.

    Hidden deal- None

I have been going to Village Pub with my family for almost 5 years now and it's always been a great place to go for birthdays, special occasions, etc.

The Garbage Salad is really good and we get it every time.

The place is a little small and can get hectic at times but I like it a lot.
I always look forward to coming to Village Pub!

For a local pub this is awesome. More often than not I have had pasta at another restaurant not as good at more than twice the price. The muscle pasta in red sauce was astounding. Very casual!

This place is kinda small and on the weekends it can fill up. It can be an unpleasent experice when a place is too small to seat many people and I felt congested in this place. The food is nothing special and this place may have been better off just staying as a bar. Most of the people seem to be here for the food which puzzles me. it looks like it could be a great neighborhood bar if it was remodeled and had the restaraunt part dropped.

This is a local favorite of the Hines VA/ Loyola Hospital staff especially the Nurses!.It's fast becoming our tradition. Delux friendly service & food never ever disappoints us. My favorite is eggplant parmasean w/ a side "garbage salad" (everything but the kitchen sink!). Also check out the huge sandwiches like patty melt on marble rye w/cottage fries. Whatever you do-don't miss the bleu cheese salad dressing-fabulous on anything we order. Portions are huge / never over priced & that's great after work! Thanks to Ramone's review (below), I'll be checking out the Saturday night Kareoke!
Let me add parking is great- all 1 level /handicap assessible. New addition is beautiful & great for private parties.
Please save time/ $ & check out all my "5 star only" local reviews.
    Ciao for now....

I went here with a friend after being unable to decide where I wanted to go for a night out.  It is a typical looking pub with a very cool looking beer garden and party room.  What I loved was the energy of this place!! We went on a Saturday night which is kareoke night.  Everyone was singing from the owners to the bartender to patrons including myself.  I had a fucking ball.  I will definitely be back. The drinks were pretty reasonable! Check this place out!

Went to dinner there on Saturday and we were meeting friends for karaoke.  Dinner was just okay.....we were pretty rushed, a few minutes after we sat down we were told that they were not going to be serving food in a few minutes so we needed to order right away.
Our friends showed up and everyone was really upbeat and excited about it. We did not get a chance to sing, as the karaoke host, his girlfriend, the bartender, the regulars there and I think it may have been the owners, were pretty much taking turns repeatedly.  We waited for a few hours as we watched them take turns.  We put our requests in right away and hours later.....still not called. I would not say the staff was friendly or welcoming to us, but you could tell who the regulars are, that's for sure. When leaving I approached the karaoke host about this, and he said it wasn't his call.......what?!?!
Could be a fun place if you are a "regular" there.  Guess they don't need our business, won't go back.

Many of my friends have been raving about Village Pub for months, so I finally joined a few of them here last week.  While it wasn't as awesome as they said, it was a decent experience.  With the portions they have at the prices they charge, I can see why they don't have trouble staying open, but I have definitely experienced better which leaves this place at 2 stars.

Everything we tried was ok/good, but all of the portions were HUGE, making the prices insanely reasonable and lowering the demands I had on flavor.

The pizza bread appetizer was all right, the standard french bread they bring out was what you would expect, but the glasses for water are very large, which made this Aguaholic very happy. :]

I had the GARBAGE SALAD - Romaine & Iceburg lettuce veggies, salami, ham, and a few cheeses all tossed in their homemade Italian dressing.  It was darn good - even my husband ate it. ;]  Great blend of flavors, very fresh, and not too much dressing (though I did ask for them to go "easy" with it).  Iceburg lettuce never really does it for me, but the other toppings helped a lot.

My husband had the LASAGNA (it was a daily special; be sure to check the chalkboard for these) - largest piece I have ever seen a place serve!  Lots of sauce and cheese, but wasn't amazing.  Not bad, but  just didn't have lot of flavor.

We finished with their Spumoni -that was yummy!  I would save room for one when you come.

Oh, and as a last tip: go when it's nice and SIT OUTSIDE!  The inside is a typical pub and didn't really impress me much, so you may as well enjoy the nice weather before the 7 month Chicago winter strikes again. ;]

Village Pub is a diamond in the rough. I've always found a great meal on the menu. The broiled lemon chicken is flavorful. It's loaded with cottage fries. The parmesan Tilapia is great. All portions are large. I don't feel it is over priced. They just opened a new room and outdoor patio area. This should ease the crowding. A definite must-try

This is a great lunch time spot if you want something a better quality than the local greasy spoon. The burgers are a good go to on the menu, but be warned that the chef can over cook your order at times. Nothing that you couldn't eat, but if you like your burger medium, I would suggest ordering medium rare.
There are a lot of people that come in from the near by hospital, so be it can be a little crowded right after work. I have gone several times for dinner and found the pasta dishes to always be delicious.

In North Riverside, Il. is a little bar and restaurant called Tipsters Village Pub. From the outside it does not look like nothing special, but if you patronize this establishment you will find just the opposite. The establishment has both a bar area and a dinning room. The establishment is decorated in brick and and wood trim. The establisment has bar seating and tables. The food is actually very good.  A Customer Favorite is the Garbage Salad. It is their Signature Salad, a blend of Crisp Romaine and Icebeg Lettuce, Fresh Vegetables, Meats, Chesse with homemade Italian Dressing. As for appetizers their fried Calamari is excellent. They serve pasta, chicken dishes, seaford, sandwiches and steaks. The service is normally good, however at times they are very busy. On Saturday Nights they have Kararokee. The prices a little on the high side for this place but I still give it four stars. Good for lunch and diner. **** I say it is good to try out. (:

This place is awesome! Great atmosphere, tasty food. I went in there with a friend about a month ago and liked the place and then I went back with a group of friends and it was even better! The service was very good especially from the bartender. And I think they were the managers or the owners but they made sure we were taken care of all night. Definitely will return!!!

I have been here a few times.  I'm not a fan of the bar, it looks like you have to be a regular to get good service.  The food is ok...

We hit up this place a couple times a month.  They have pretty decent bar food, but we always stick to pasta.  They have this "stuffed gnocci" dish with vodka sauce which is amazing.  Also their linguini with clans is one of my faves.  We always get an order of their friend green beans with wasabi ranch - a must try.  They have a small dining area and then a bar with high tables where you can eat also.  Plenty of tvs so you can watch sporting events (we watched the Hawks Stanley cup finals there and it was a great time).  Matt the bartender is the best!!!

Not a bad little neighborhood place.   It's not fancy by any means, but we've wandered down here a couple times after a long day of working on our house.

The menu isn't super veg-friendly [which I intend to try to work on if we become regulars here :)  ].  I've had their eggplant parmesean, which comes in the form of a giant tasty brick.   The pastas I've gotten here have always been enough for two meals.  The beer list is just ok, a little small but we think they change out a few of them fairly often.

More hole in the wall bar than restaurant.  Menu is full of artery clogging food that is so common in Chicago.  I can't say it was honestly all that wonderful, and the server was kind of ornery in disposition.  Not sure why it is so loved here (and packed when we were in there), but maybe it's a neighborhood sorta thing.

A pub with a solid menu and tasty pastas.  This is a local gem that is popular with neighborhood locals and offers friendly service.  I've been here three times and have discovered that they make an AMAZING homemade blue cheese dressing that's great on their wings, buffalo shrimp and salads.  Bar apps and creative pastas round out my tasting experience.  I've always been pleased.

My aunt & uncle took me here for my 23rd birthday.  Its nothing but a regular neighborhood bar with a restaurant seating area.  My favorite was their angel hair pasta for around $6 which is served in a gigantic bowl that's large enough to ensure that you'll walk out with leftovers.  I mainly like this place for its neighborhood feel since it seemed like the owner & bartender knew a majority of the people that walked in the bar.  Overall, the crowd seemed to be mainly middle-aged guys in the area with a couple of families stopping in for a quick meal.

A surprising, casual, quality, neighborhood place.  The chicken dishes are very good, we once tried the Italian steak , which was good also.  Very good Italian sausage.  Ten dollar wine bottle special is a big money-saver.  Grilled Calamari are tender.  I highly recommend the escarole and bean soup which is very hearty and has chucks of neckbone and sausage--perfect for cold weather.  Every soup but those containing beef broth are made from scratch.  Their "garbage" (antipasto) salad is tasty, but could be excellent if they took out the boiled ham and chopped black olives, put in prosicutto, capicola and real Italian/Greek olives and then made it smaller to offset the cost of the better ingredients (in fact it would make it perfect).   Waitstaff are casual and attentive.  There are sometimes kids there earlier in the eveing, but they tend to be pretty well behaved.  I guess there is a kids' menu, but I'm not positive.
