This little bar in downtown Brunswick deserves to be better populated than it apparently is.  It sits on one those little mini-parks in downtown and fronts onto the main street.  The guy behind the bar was friendly and very personable and made me the absolute best Salty Dog I've ever had.  I actually usually don't order these in bars because the frozen/packaged fruit juice they typically use is too sweet.  Tipsy's though makes theirs from real ruby grapefruit and they squeeze them at the bar in front of you.  So your drink is freshly made from fresh fruit and it's...amazing.  At least I thought so.  The poor bartending guy had to make me three and  I could happily have sat there all night drinking them.
We had dinner plans elsewhere so we didn't have much in the way of food. We did try one appetizer, some kind of fried goat cheese thing and it was pretty tasty. Â The tangy hot goat cheese matched up well with the sweet zing of the grapefruit in my drink. Â
The bar itself is pretty typical for a bar. Â It's all dark wood and clustered tables. Â There are a couple of big windows that look out into the small park, which has a giant oak tree in it and this lends a nice touch to the general ambiance. Â They line all their alcohol bottles up in front of that window for a nice display. Â There is a tiny stage in the back where apparently they have live music on weekends. Â We were there too early for that, which may also have explained why there were only a few other people there. Â
Whenever I come to Brunswick I am struck by how much potential the downtown area has. Â Places like this are important for good things to happen in small towns. Â So if you find yourself in the area, get to Tipsy's and do some drinking!
Tipsy's brought life back to downtown Brunswick.
It's a great place for a meal or just a drink. I'm not a beer drinker but their selection is great! Even I found something delicious there to imbibe. (Angry Orchard cider on tap... who can argue with that?)
I've had the chicken finger basket, ham and pineapple flatbread, and the green gobbler sandwich. All were fantastic. The flatbread is like a small, thin pizza. Chicken fingers were pretty standard and served with their handcut fries - delicious! My favorite is the green gobbler. It's a sandwich with turkey, pancetta, guacamole, and some type of aioli. Get it with onion rings... you won't regret it!
Service is always great, even when the place is packed, and prices are a good value. The place has live music on the weekends... it's a great place to hangout (my profile picture was taken at one of their outdoor tables!) My only complaint is that it can get very loud in this place quickly because of the open-beam ceilings. But, it's worth it!
Can we say their food "Nailed it?" Â I ordered the goat cheese balls, and shed a tear out of joy for how good they were drizzled with honey. Â I had the Tipsy burger, and it was one delicious burger. Â I picked the fried potato salad as my side, and was thoroughly pleased. Â I am a cider guy and was thrilled they offered cider along with a decent selection of other beers and drinks.
I was in on a Friday evening and they had a live band that was really good, they had me singing along as I ate.
The staff was friendly and our server was on point with drink refills.
Go there, go there now. Â (Or when they are open.)
Stopped in for a quick dinner. Â Our server, Randall, was extremely helpful with recommendations and provided excellent service.
I went with the tenders with garlic jalapeno sauce, and upon our server's recommendation, a side of the General Tipsy sauce. Â This seemed to be a soy and peanut-based Asian sauce, and the combination was outstanding.
My girlfriend got the Green Gobbler sandwich. I only tried a small bite, but it struck me as very good.
My only complaint with the place is that the draft beer selection was pretty limited at only five beers. Â To be fair, they made it count with an excellent New Belgium beer and a couple seasonals.
I will definitely be back next time I'm in town.
Took an extremely long time to be greeted... Waitstaff took forever to take my drink order and then forever to bring it to me...Menu is very limited. I ordered a burger/fries. The burger came out completely wrong. For what it is the price point is a little high They weren't very busy when I visited I doubt I'll be back. Probably will last as long as Brewburgers downtown... which is sad because I live downtown and would like to see more business stay open.
