Wasn't a busy night but the bartender did her best to avoid communicating with me as much as possible. Refused to give me change and pocketed the tip she demanded instead of the generous tip I would have given her. Refused to talk to my friend when he asked about the beer prices.
Place reeks of stale cigarette smoke. Cigarette ashes on the seats. Overall kind of a dive but the a-hole service makes me never want to return.
The good news about this place is that it looks a million times better than the rest of Johnson City does, although that really isn't saying a lot. The bad news about this place is that me and two friends ordered sushi dishes that had shrimp in it, and all the shrimp looked and felt undercooked. We even sent it back telling them that and they brought more undercooked shrimp.
We ended up leaving the shrimp food on the table. Thanks for the crap.
We did, however, enjoy the drinks that were brought to us, and appreciated the samples that we received of certain beers and liquors. Thanks?
I went to Tipton's during my vacation in east Tennessee with my cousins and was surprised as to how neat this bar actually is.
It has a pretty standard 'college' feel with the crazy eclectic juke box mix (metal, country, hip-hop), but what I liked about it was the crazy eclectic group of people.
The only downside was the cigarette smoke. Â My throat hurt by the end of the night. Â Yuck.
Lots of potential here... Nice looking selection of beer on tap and in bottles. Â Could hardly see them unfortunately, the cigarette smoke is as thick as molasses. Â This place seriously needs to work on their ventilation. Â Huge bummer, we walked in and promptly turned around and walked out. Â Tipton Street Pub is a good source of lung cancer. Â If you like 2nd hand smoke, by all means, please enjoy.
Review Source:Great beer selection, great drink prices, great space, funny and friendly staff. I was happy to get Terrapin on tap because you just can't do that north of the mason-dixon line.
I'd hang at the booth in the front window any day. Didn't have the food, but my company goes all the time and assures me it's also good.
I love this pub, but I really based my opinion of it from their opening weekend. I've always looked for a bar where you could go and chat with friends WITHOUT live music. While they don't have live music, after their first weekend they turned the jukebox up so loud that they might as well. Still a good place to go and have a good time with friends.
