Never been more offended by a bartender in my life. First asked for a Long Beach, only to be told she doesn't know what that is. Hello? Standard drink! But okay, its a dive, I read the reviews on yelp, so I let it slide.
Ended up ordering two long islands (one for myself and one for my boyfriend). First off, their glasses were MAYBE 16 ounces. Minus one star.
Buttload of ice? Minus one star.
THEN, I hand her a 20 dollar bill and go about my drinking and dart playing. I go at the end of the night for my change, and she tells me the long islands are TEN DOLLARS APIECE?!?!? Minus a star.
But the real icing on the cake was when she had the audacity to go to her friend (my friend too) and, with a smile, say "oh I charged THEM (looks at us) ten dollars a drink". Way to line your pockets with tips, *****! Minus a million stars.
I will NEVER return here. Not even if they paid me. I'd give this place ZERO STARS if I could.
My Family gathers here, periodically to have a Karaoke night out (Saturday). Â It's local and so you generally see a lot of the same people coming in and singing... "Don't worry if you don't have an A+ voice"; most singers are just there for the fun and not to be "discovered". Â
The early close time of Midnight gets people out before the 2:00 AM drunks hit the streets. Â A fun place to gather with a group of friends for some drinks, laughs, playing shuffleboard or pool.
Only a couple of tables and the bar stool-seating. Â So, if you get here after 9:00 PM, plan to stand most of the night.
They only accept CASH, but there is an ATM.
Interesting place here. Â Touchdown Tommy's looks like a great 70's bar that never remodeled. Â There is one pool table and a shuffle board also. Â We went here because we had heard that the place has Karaoke but not that many people go there so we thought this would be a great place to sing 20 songs.
Turns out they had a good turnout that night of singers. Â The KJ had a few of his groupies show up. Â I think in 2 hours we got in 4 songs which is actually a quick rotation. Â In a Busy Karaoke setting you tend to get a song an hour to an hour and a half.
The bar? It's not a bar but a beer station. They had hard liquor which were Tequila and Vodka and maybe Whiskey but they were all Well drinks and nothing high end.
The Bartender? Â Her name was Jane or Juanita and I got carded which is great but I'm also 37 and I'm reminded every time of how young I look. Er!!
Well we wanted an Armaretto Sour but she said, "Don't have that." Well.. then we ordered a Mai Tai or a Blue Hawaiian. Â Her response, "Not at this bar."
So don't go here if you're looking to get mix drinks. Â One guy was yelling, "Go Raiders!!"
The bar closes at 12pm also. Â So...um? Â The usuals were great.
I haven't been here for the past 5 months because Ive just had a baby BUT it is my favorite place to go! I love Juanita and all the regulars ... its a dive bar but it feels like home. I miss it and cant wait for a night out with my husband soon. When ever my friends come into town they ALWAYS mention "hey lets go to TD Tommy's ... HUT HUT HUT!" Love it!
Review Source:The single, most informative night I have ever spent playing shuffleboard was here. I think it was a Thursday. We got in around 10 or 11 that night and put some quarters in the machine and started to play.
Suddenly, we were forcibly stopped by an insistent bartender. She cleaned the surface of the table and sprinkled it with new sand. She regrouped our teams, she taught us how to score - the right way (which was not as clear cut as I originally thought) and even took charge of the score buttons for us. She may have been a little wasted, but I was just glad for the lesson, really.
I want to minus one star because they turned off the jukebox at midnight, before our last couple of songs were over, but the bar was empty, they wanted to go home, and the experience was just too good.
Know this: no trip to San Jose is complete without a stop at Touchdown Tommy's.
AMENDMENT: A note to the blond bartender: Stop playing god with the jukebox. We would like to hear ALL of our plays.
Total dive bar.
My girlfriend and I came in here at 11:30pm on a Saturday night. Within 20 seconds, before I could even order my beer, a customer gave me a shot of tequila that was already poured. Well, that made my beer selection a bit easier; Corona it was. About two minutes later, we had a large man with his arms around both of us and a kiss on each of our cheeks. Strange, but makes for an interesting story. Shortly thereafter, before I could finish half of my beer, the bartender announced that the man was buying the four of us a round of Jager.
Another note: This was the most drunk bartender I have ever seen.
Overall a very entertaining 30 minutes.
