Town Square Tavern

The view from the balcony over the town square cant be beat, but the food was nothing at all special. I would not return.

There are many great restaurants in Jackson; this place is not one of them. The only thing this place has going for it is location.  Service was very slow, food was not good.  I had their "award winning" chili ($10); it had a grainy texture wit a ratio of beans to meat that favored the meat too much.  My wife had the fried chicken ($14) which had no flavor in the breading.  Both meals were inexplicably served with a mountain of garlic toast.  Neither of us finished our over priced meals. Steer clear of this place

I. Am. An IDIOT.

WHY didn't I look at Yelp before setting foot in this place?  There are DOZENS of places to choose from here in Jackson - so many places it was dizzying.  I am generally drawn to pubs / taverns / breweries, so this place looked interesting to me.  Their balcony was full of customers sitting at tables, so I figured it must be good.  

...Swing and a miss...

After seating ourselves we waited forever to be greeted and receive menus.  I didn't note what time we arrived, but after waiting a while, my wife and I said if we hadn't been given menus by 12:00, then we were leaving.  

Big mistake.

We should've just got up and left right then.  Right as I commented to my wife it was time and was starting to get up out of my chair, the waitress gave us menus.  She delivered our drinks and took our orders at 12:05.  I asked for some chips and salsa to tide us over.  We received the chips and salsa at 12:28!  23 minutes?!?!  To add insult to injury - fast forward a little later when I went to use the restroom, I saw them scooping tortilla chips out of a HUGE plastic bin into the baskets they put on the tables, so it's not like they had to go grind the corn and MAKE the tortillas.

At 12:39, they delivered food to two tables that were seated after us.  We flagged down our waitress at 12:40 and she said she would go check on our food.  I ordered a QUESADILLA for crying out loud!  Put some cheese in a tortilla and grill it for 60 seconds!  My wife ordered pizza, so okay, I'll give them 10 minutes for that.

12:44 food was finally delivered - 39 minutes for a quesadilla, pizza, chicken strips and hamburger?

Looking through the POSITIVE reviews for this place on Yelp, I get the impression the people who liked it only came to the bar / night club scene.  I guess there's a reason this one isn't listed as a "restaurant."
