The food is really good and the place is nice, with a good location. I honestly don't think the service could be worse if they tried. No one said hi to us or anything, just "what do you want to drink". My husband was trying to order a burger and the waiter LITERALLY WALKED AWAY, mid order, with no explanation. He came back like a minute later and said, "I thought we were out of burgers but we're not". They only have 4 menu items - burgers, wraps, sandwiches and wings. How is this possible???!!!

I don't know if the service is because they are a college bar or what, but they could have a nice lunch crowd if they had better service with all the faculty and staff right across the street.

Oh well. I'd rather have awful service with good food than the other way around!

Awful, inexperienced staff. Other than that, the place is great. It's nice to find a CLEAN bar in Denton, something I occasionally enjoy, though my favorite bars are far less sterile. This place's outdoor seating is lovely. It's their greatest asset. They need more and better bartenders/servers, more ambiance inside, and happy hour specials (right now there are none).

I agree with the other reviews that talk about Treehouse's potential. It's really nice on the inside and has a great patio area. It's clean and smoke-free. The only part about the ambiance we didn't care for was the music. A bit too club for us, but it wasn't super loud, so that was nice. Our waitress was great and our food was good. The fries with our entrees came with Parmesan cheese and sauteed onions on top and were served with a spicy mustard. Nice touch. Will definitely check it out again.

This bar is by far the priciest on/close to Fry Street. They give you small portions of drinks too. As far as food, I've only had the chips and salsa with guacamole in terms of food. It was alright. The salsa was orange? I like the balcony. That's pretty much all.

This is Denton's latest addition to the University/Fry Street area.  It's a very nice two story bar and grill on Hickory right across the street from campus and right behind Sukho Thai II.  It's got great outdoor patio and an area for outdoor games in front of the restaurant.  The place is still very new, but I get the feeling they are going to do great in Denton, especially when school is back in session.  The bartenders were friendly and the service was quick.  There were plenty of big screen TV's and everyone was watching football when we were there.  They have bars upstairs and downstairs and the beer prices were very reasonable.  We didn't eat but there were plenty of good dishes on the menu to try like the Best Cuban Sandwich, wing baskets, pulled pork Hoagie, and build your own burger (see my menu pics).  The place is definitely targeting the college age kids and recently graduated,  but I think anyone could have a good time here.  The owners have obviously spent a lot of time and money remodeling this bar and grill into one of the nicest in Denton.  Food-no rating, Bar Service-4 stars, Ambiance (bar and grill)-5 stars, Value-4 stars.

I went back and forth between a 2 and a 3. I think the Treehouse is having an identity crisis. Does it want to serve as an alternative to the Oak St draft house or Hooligans. I would prefer the former as Denton already has a plethora of dumpy college bars. The owners put a massive amount of effort into the renovation of the old building, and the food is really good. Had the fries and a burger. The fries had caramelized onions and Parmesan cheese. Very well done and reasonable. Small menu but very well executed. Plus, the inside is non-smoking.
I've been there twice, once for Happy Hour and the other time for drinks on a Thursday night. Service was decent with the occasional opening pains any new place is sure to experience.
I guess my issue has been more of the feel of the place. The music is extremely loud. That wouldn't be such a big deal if the place was packed, but it was pretty empty both times. It reminded me that guy who lived on your floor freshman year, who would just blare his music with his door open to get attention from everyone on the floor. Even if it wasn't a good type of attention. You know, "that guy". Treehouse: Don't be that guy. Our group ended up leaving both times because we couldn't even talk to each other. I assume that the Treehouse is looking to cater to the just turned 21 college crowd, which is really sad because it really is a nice bar. Recently turned 21 year olds will really drink their Bud light/$3 long islands anywhere. Treehouse: don't waste this place on them. I promise, they will be fine.

Glad to see someone take the time and investment to build it up. Nothing special inside, but it looks good and clean.  The magic happens on the patio...excellent!  On top of that they even have a few games you can play outside that the patio somewhat looks apon.  They also have an excellent balcony.

This place is brand new from my understanding, so keep that in mind.  The service was borderline horrible and while i understand some of that stems from this being a new place, it didn't seem to me like it was the only reason.  They weren't busy at all so that just made things look worse.

Food  hmmm..food, well....a gentleman brought my pulled pork nachoes out to before everything else saying "i'd like to get these out before they get cold/sit around".  Proper table manners means i wait for everyone, but i didn't because i was around close friends :)  with that being said the nachoes were slightly warm.  I would pull out a chip and only get a chip, at the end i had cheese and pulled pork left over.  They hadn't heated things up well enough for them to stick :(  They weren't anything special and i doubt i will try them again.

Other people seem to like their burgers, which were quite big, but they were not impressed, just adverage.

I'm also very confused on what this place is....is it a bar with bar food or is it a resturant with drinks?  I'm going with the first, because at 9pm they gave use wrist bands to drink.  I see this place turning into a frat hangout that gets run down.  I hope it does not turn that way

This would be a 2.5 if I could... 1 for service, 4 for food quality. As Jason T. said, it's got room to grow, but I'm afraid this place may grow into an environment I wouldn't like to revisit. Between the preteen radio music blaring and wave of popped collars that were heading in as we were leaving, I'm iffy on it at best.

We were really excited to try Treehouse after hearing coworkers rave about a BYO burger without a limit on toppings or extra charges. When you say free bacon-cheese-guac, I listen. We showed up on a Friday night around 7:30pm for dinner. When we walked into the front door there was a bartender behind the bar, but they didn't acknowledge us or help guide if it was a seat your self situation, order at the bar, or what.... It was chilly outside, so we discovered our way upstairs only to find most tables were without chairs. Back to the patio. Pretty cold, but nice and open with white light strung overhead, so we bundled up to enjoy the ambiance.

It took a white to finally get served... and when a waitress finally did appear, she only brought one paper mini menu for a table of six (which kept flying away). We asked for additional menus, but after realizing we were either getting drinks OR menus, just passed it around. It took about 20 minutes to actually get drinks and she forgot waters, despite asking twice. We ended up being swapped around between a girl and guy server, both of which didn't know the menu, ingredients, or drink specials.

The food came out relatively quickly after we put in our orders, but not all at once. Two orders of pulled pork nachos. Then some burgers. Then a sandwich. Makes it awkward when you're trying to have dinner with friends. When the food did finally arrive it was hot and appeared freshly made and was brought out by who I assume is their chef... it was definitely the highlight of the visit. We all got something different to share, but since they never brought silverware (despite me asking two servers AND going in to the bar and asking), we were unable to cut up tasters. The Cuban sammy looked pretty delicious. The loaded chicken sandwich was perfectly cooked with a smorgasbord of tasty toppings on a divine bun. The pulled pork nachos were sub par, but edible. All-in-all, not a bad meal at a decent price. But terrible service... enough so that I won't be back for a while until they do some training.

OH- funny thing! They didn't ID anyone for alcohol (we're all mid-late 20s and could look younger)... until the clock struck 9pm and we were waiting for the waitress to return our credit cards so we could leave. Some guy came around and required our IDs in exchange for a wristband that we had to put on for 2 minutes.

    This place has enormous potential.

A friend from OSDH&CP "liked" this place on Facebook and that brought it to our attention. It's in a great location and really cool ambiance. In the summer the patio will be another stand-out hang-out in Denton.

We tried a variety on our first visit. The menu is small but really well executed. We tried the Buffalo hot wings, the dry rub wings, and two build your own burgers. For our sides we tried the fries and onion rings.

The wings were awesome. The Buffalo had a real kick and was the traditional buffalo style. Very good. The dry rub was great! Crispy and flavorful but the wings were still juicy. So far we were impressed. For Molly's burger she added guac, jalapenos and their tomato jam. She thought the jam was something different and delicious. My burger was the old skool cheddar, bacon burger. The buns are made fresh and you could really tell. The fries were hand cut and sprinkled with Parmesan and mixed with caramelized onion and served with jalapeno ketchup. And the onion rings were fried in a Shiner Bock batter and served with chipotle ranch. Both were so good!

The Treehouse has bar food. But it's not bar food. Nothing seemed like it had ever been "frozen". In my opinion, this burger rivals Twisted Root or Love Shack (but don't get me started about what "Chef" Tim Love did in Denton. Jerkface.) for best in class.

The service is still having  a few hiccups (beer was a little warm, drinks took a while, not knowing ingredients of signature dishes, etc.) but I really attribute it to the place being brand new and there not being a strong floor manager when we were there. That would make this place considerably more efficient.

So, we highly recommend it, but be patient.
(-1 star for the service issues)

I'm giving this place four stars preemptively because they opened yesterday and I'm hoping it improves with time.
The drink specials are great for liquor ($4 double wells with a heavy pour) and average for beer ($3 shiner draft).
The food is amazing. We tried the grilled cheese and the build your own wrap. We were also looking forward to the pulled pork but at one pm on a Friday afternoon it was apparently still too frozen to pull.
The sandwiches come with homemade chips and a soda, $1 extra to sub fries (that are mixed with onions; weird) and $0.50 for extra sauces. The tomato jam and chipotle ranch are both superb.
The service blows. It took four of us 20 minutes to get two beers and  over an hour to get some simple food from the time we sat down. There were two other tables of 2-4 people and three bartenders at the time. We asked for salt three times and finally just went downstairs and asked another bartender, who was sitting down at a table with some friends and claimed they didn't have any even though it was visible behind the bar. We were able to procure some salt in a plastic cup after five minutes of pointing it out to him.
I would hate to be the bartender downstairs because there's an open atrium that I can see beer or vomit easily splashing over the edge onto him from above.
The atmosphere is non-existant but I'm assuming that's because they've only been open two days so I can't complain.
All in all, this place has potential for being a great little bar and grill close to campus (it's across the street from UNT's chem building on hickory) if they can manage to get their service fixed and maybe some cheaper beer specials.
