Ok, hot as hell today. Went for a ride and decided NewHhope would be a good one. Parked in the lot at "Triumph brew pub" Â with the thought to have a couple of pints after a walk in town. Â We are first timers to "Triumph". Â It was great to get out of the heat of the day. Â We ordered a couple of "German Pilsner" and they were cold and tasty. The bartender overheard us reading "Cream Ale" description "milk, sugar and vanilla." and gave us a sample. It was very tasty also. Everything was going great, then it happened, you always like to munch when tasting great ber, we ordered a cheese board. What a mistake. Here is the description copied directly from their menu:
cheese board
valley shepherd creamery pepato, valley shepherd crema de blue, cherry grove farm rosedale, terhune orchards apple, red head farms raspberry jam, truffled bob's buzzy beeshoney, terhune orchards apple jelly, raw almond 12 " yep, that's right $12!
No lie, It had 3 pieces of cheese the size of a pat of butter, 5 pieces of stale 14 in thick 2in wide bread, 3 teaspoon dollops of the above, a table spoon of almonds, and a tuft of moss anyone could have scrapped off a rock anywhere and last but not least, a quarter of a small apple cut in very thin slices. I guess to clean our pallet.
The bier was good, the bartender was very good... the cheese board? What a disappointment!
What a disappointment. My husband and I have been coming here for five years. Originally we loved Triumph and had many wonderful memories here... Today was the last straw. I had to ask to have my plates and empty glasses removed while tables around us were covered in empties left behind by customers long since gone. My husband's entree was burnt and his fries tasted bad. Our server was inept and my salad was wimpy. The only saving grace is the beer. This is the last time we will be coming back for anything but a growler fill. We are terribly depressed to be losing a place so near and dear to our hearts. This was where we had one of our first dates, where we went after we were married, where we have celebratec ountless birthdays and other special events.
Review Source:Good environment and band! Â For apps my wife and I split the chicken spring rolls. They were amazing! Â We both also got the baked potato soup which was great! Â I got the short rib with waffle fries and mixed veggies and it all was outstanding! Â A bar by trade but food was awesome. Â Will be back! Â Manager Jodi is the best!
Review Source:Solid spot to go for some food and brews.
Beers are always consistently fresh and delicious. Â The food is good too -- used to be a bit better, but they condensed their menu and took away some favorable options.
All around, though, it's a cool place to go with some close friends for a casual meal. Â They also have happy hour deals for half off beers and apps. Â No qualms with that.
Okay, so now that I've been to all three Triumph Brewing Companies I can safely say that the Philadelphia location is the best one in terms of menu, atmosphere and service. Not to say that the New Hope location is BAD, per say. It's okay. But it's just that - okay.
Our waitress however, was not okay. What is up with Triumph hiring horribly miserable, inattentive staff? Every single time I go (minus the Philly location, like I said) I end up with a server who hates their life and couldn't be effed to bother with me. I'm a nice girl, and very polite...so I have no idea why they tend to AVOID MY TABLE, eye contact and refuse to refill my glasses. Wtf?
The food here was okay, and I love that everything is local, organic, sustainable, blah blah. All that good stuff. I just prefer the menu at the Philly location the most.
i'm surprised to see so many disappointing reviews about this place... i've frequented the triumph in new hope (as well as the one in princeton) numerous times in the last few years, and i have yet to have an unpleasant experience.
the menu is relatively small, and a majority of the food is locally sourced (i love the descriptions on the menus- fun to know where my food is from). there are dishes which rotate in and out, so go try something new once in a while! i love that they offer many of their salads in both a large and half-size portion. the calamari is always tasty, and the servers are always glad to recommend something good. the beers are consistently awesome, they have a nice wine list, the food is yummy, and i've never had unpleasant service. the prices are to be expected in an area like new hope (and are comparable to the princeton location).
outdoor seating is a major plus in the summertime- grab some apps and beers and enjoy watching the trains (cover up your glasses when the trains come in and out though, there will be flying soot if it's windy). you can even bring your dog to the back patio! another bonus: sit outside for dinner on a friday night in the summertime and you'll have a great view of new hope's fireworks. indoors is warmly lit, with lots of exposed brick and a large bar. there are pool tables and darts as well, and they have live music often.
the menu, the portions, and the quality of food at the new hope, pa location of triumph are significantly better than at the princeton, nj spot. it takes me twice as much time to drive to the new hope location, but i do it for the food and the ambiance. don't rule it out if you're not thrilled with the princeton location.
Very poor service. Waited 15 minutes to receive a menu from a busser after being ignored by two servers, one of whom stood right next to us for almost 5 minutes talking with another table. Others on the outside patio had the same problem. We asked to see the manager and waited another several minutes. We left without being able to order. Will not return.
Review Source:Beautiful spot to grab some great food and beers. My wife and I sat outside in the sun watching the train come in and out. We shared the nachos, the fried chicken sandwich and a sampler of their beers. The food was dynamite and the beers were all excellent.
Don't think twice about stopping here. There wasn't any live music during the day when were there but they seem to have a lot going on.
We'll definitely be back.
Food: Â
About a year or two ago they changed their menu, and made it a little more fancy. Â Even their plating style changed. Â I'm not a fan of the new menu at all. Â Â The new menu just doesn't do it for me in a craft beer setting. Â If it wasn't a brewery I'd like the menu.... Â The burger from the old menu was one the best burgers I ever had. Â I really really don't like the "new" menu. Â
Beer:
I've never had a beer here I didn't like..... I love their beers. Â
Decor:
It's a typical brew Pub, the outside seating is very nice, and New Hope is Pet Friendly so you can dine with your pup. Â They'll even bring him a bowl of water.
Service:  Depends, can be hit or miss the place gets really crowded, and you can  lose your waiter in it.  I've come about three times with parties of about 15 or so and they are always good about taking my reservation (HAVE ONE on a Friday or Saturday even for 2 people!).
If you like live music they have it, but it can get loud and boisterous for me. Â They also have pool tables, and darts.
The Parking in New Hope is terrible. Â You'll drive around forever looking for a spot, then good luck finding the meter to pay, then go put your ticket in. Â Â
Overall it's a solid place to get a beer in New Hope...
My sisters and I went here and sat out back overlooking the train tracks. We ordered hummus, steak and eggs...actually we ordered 2-3 appetizers and a meal each and we ate it all. Maybe it was the fun I was having with my sisters, or the romantic view of watching a bride and groom take pictures on the train platform, or the buzz from the beer, but everything was very delicious and we had a wonderful time. Â The server was friendly, if maybe neglecting us a little as we were the only people sitting outside.
I recommend this to people who have plenty of time for a long lunch and are off the clock so you can sample some of their beers (pretty large selection).
I've been going to Triumph for years in Princeton but this was my first time going to the one in New Hope. The one star I gave this establishment if for the waiter who was great at his job. He was really very attentive but not over the top trying to please us when we complained. We went there with tickets to the Wood Brothers. That part of the night was wonderful and I'm sure they probably have a good selection of music offered from time to time.
As for the food! For the apps, we ordered cheese board  - valley shepherd creamery oldwick shepherd, valley shepherd creamery crema de blue
cherry grove farm rosedale, terhune orchards apple, organic huckleberry jam, raw almond, bob's buzzy bees honey comb  - 12 bucks. First of all, there are more words on that menu to describe this dish than there is actual food! The Cheese Board consisted of three 1 inches slices (about 2 cm thick) of cheese! It was so ridiculous I asked the waiter if this was intentional. His reply? "Yes, these are the cheeses we are featuring tonight." Uhhh.,... should have come with a magnifying glass so you can cut the slices up into the microscopic pieces to share with my friends! The jam, honey, blah, blah, blah... just words - little puddles of jam thrown on the plate next to the itty bitty toast.
Next app was the moules frites prince edward island mussels. These were OK but were so small and few (maybe a dozen) that they fit in a small soup bowl. Again 12 bucks. Finally, wings coleman organic chicken wings, house made buffalo sauce, blue cheese sour cream for $10.50. These were actually the best thing we ate that night. With that said, they are buffalo wings and that is about it.
For dinner, we ordered the salmon salad sandwich (11 bucks) , fish and chips- Â booth bay harbor cod, house made fernbrook farms kennebec fries, tuscarora red cabbage salad, arugula-caper for $18. , and we were going to order the striped bass. Because we were watching the band, we were going to order a couple of entrees at a time throughout the night. The salmon sandwich was decent but very saucy - I didn't see all that other stuff that was in the description. But honestly, the whole menu consists of very fancy descriptions of average dishes. An example? Â croque madame sliders ozark mountain ham, valley shepherd creamery melter skelter mornay, caramelized tuscarora shallot, griggstown farm quail egg 12.00. Â Can you say, "Ham Sandwich"?
The fish and chips came out and we just stared in awe at them. The woman saw our faces and said, "Hmmm... sorry. Looks like you need more chips. I'll get more." We later found out she was the manager! First of all, we didn't even see fries on the plate! I think there were 2 stuck under 3 teeny tiny pieces of overcooked fish sticks. Mind you, this dish was 18 dollars. I don't care about price, but these "fish" and chips looked like the ones I pull out of the freezer when I'm trying to cook something fast for my kids! When we returned them, and canceled the rest of our order, the manager came over and agreed that the dish was pathetic and asked  if she could get something else for us. Then why even drop it off. I've been in the restaurant business my whole life. Being a manager, I would have never dropped that plate off at the table and offered to get more fries to make it better.
This place was not good at all.. unless, of course, you like to be charged good money for minuscule portions of below average food.
Disappointing!
Good craft beer, but the food was sub par at best. Salads were served same plate as entrees, and In my book, if you're paying $20+ for an entree, you should get your salad first and on a separate plate.
I ordered the veggie quinoa burger. The portion size was beneficent, but too much roll and not enough flavor.
The service kind of sucked, too. Don't mean to hate, but Triumph has not exactly stolen my heart!
Their menu here is TEN times more inventive than the Triumph in Princeton. I have tried many of the items on the menu and some of the appetizers are hit or miss, but ultimately I have always had a really great meal.
I love how they use local ingredients as well. For a "pub" this menu has some of the best food around (and for a better price than most places in New Hope).
For appetizers, I really liked the chicken spring rolls (made with organic chicken) and the nachos (made with grass fed beef short ribs and local farm ingredients). But I tried one of their specials one night (it was a crudo of type) and it just was such a small portion and the fish was chewy. I think I will have to stick to the classics from now on.
Looking at their menu now I'm excited to go back. Osso Bucco, pork belly, branzino, duck tacos.. you can't go wrong with those kind of menu items.
I went to Triumph two weeks ago.To see my brothers band play Blendmode(plug for them !check them out on Fb) We sat at the bar to eat. The staff was really attentive even though it was packed and very nice. The last time i went was in may for their restaurant week. Just a s good as before!! Blew me away again. The quality of food is really exceptional and the portions for dollar amount is perfect. We had the duck tacos, butternut squash bruschetta, and two smaller salads. The beet and the pear. I wont bore you with detail, just know that everything was amazing.Dont let yourself down go try it out!!! Oh ps i had a couple of the beers and like them with my meal. The coming from a non beer girl.
Review Source:This is probably my favorite bar in Bucks County. I live in New Hope, so I come here a lot. Â My husband and I chose to spend our 4 year anniversary here last week, sipping on this year's batch of pumpkin ale (really good) and enjoying the most delicious rare burgers in the area. We both love our burgers and we love them rare, and Triumph does a perfect burger.
You can bring your dogs into the outside bar, which is a huge plus for us. We brought our furry buddy Vortex and enjoyed lunch and brews on the back patio a few weeks ago, watching the people board the New Hope & Ivyland railroad train. Well, we enjoyed the whole train scenario, it scared the shit out of the dog. Woops.
Their happy hour is a good value, and on Tuesday nights you can enjoy $3 pints all day. Â Highly recommend this bar.
*This was my second time at Triumph. If this was my first time, this review would have been a 1 star:
-The Occasion:
I drove to New Hope with a few friends to have a fun-filled day/night. We spent the day walking around and decided to eat at Triumph.
-The Atmosphere:
Trendy, clean, dim lighting, noisy, nice décor, pretty seating area outside
-The Service:
I showed up at 8pm and asked for a reservation for 4 people at 9pm. The woman at the counter told me that they do not take reservations. If you call or go on-line you can make reservations electronically....why not there? She convinced us to return at 8:45pm. When we arrived we were handed a buzzer and asked to wait 35 minutes for a table.
After waiting 40 minutes outside in the lounge area, I approached the woman and asked how much longer the wait would be. She said only a few more minutes, so slightly annoyed, I went back to the lounge area to inform my group and we decided to wait.
After an HOUR of waiting, we all went back inside to ask what the deal was and they were then charging $5 at the door just to get in...even though we had been there for an HOUR waiting.
At that point in time, we made the decision to leave with the mind set of: who knows how long the rest of the night would have taken (appetizers, food, etc.).
-The Experience:
I am not sure if I will ever go back, but I would never recommend Triumph to anyone.
As I mentioned, this was my second time at Triumph Brewing Company.
The first time was not as bad: We did have to wait a long time to be seated (45 minutes for 6 people). The server was well educated- he knew the drinks and food well- and the food was delicious!
It's truly a shame because the atmosphere, food & servers are all wonderful; any customer service prior to being seated is horrendous.
My three stars have nothing to do with my distaste for micro brews. We went there after a day in New Hope. I had been there before for a quick drink before, but this time we ordered some food. First our party of four tried to sit at the bar. We waiting a little over 5 minutes for service, then decided to get a table. Everyone in the party ordered the Blonde Ale, their lightest beer. I tried it, it was ok, but again, I'm not typically a fan of these beers. I ordered the beet salad and split nachos with the BF. My father ordered the burger and step mom ordered the buffalo wings.
Our food arrived very quickly. My salad was a nice portion for the half serving. It had arugula, beets, apples, blackberries, and goat cheese. My one disappointment was the goat cheese. There wasn't a lot and it was cut into tiny little squares. You really couldn't taste it. The beets were large and plentiful, so that was a plus. The nachos were ok. They weren't the best I ever had. The chips were very large and there were a lot of toppings, just not a lot of flavor. My father liked his burger and my step mom enjoyed her wings, but thought they were a little dry.
I would probably go back again and try an entree. They do use fresh, local ingredients which is nice, so I'm willing to give it another shot.
My best friend lives in New Hope, and I have been to Triumph twice, in Summer 2011 and 2012. I have had a good experience both times. The beers are great - I am a big fan of beer samplers, and both times I liked the majority of what we ordered.
My first visit, we shared nachos (yum) and I got fish and chips (my favorite thing to get at a brewery!) - delicious. My second visit, I ordered the lobster pot pie. The menu didn't mention that it had bacon in it, but it came with bacon. I don't eat pork so I had to send it back, which I was disappointed about, but the halibut I got to replace it was fantastic. The strawberry shortcake that night was not so great.
This is a fun, laid-back spot and I will definitely return next time we are in New Hope.
p.s. Dogs are allowed on the patio, which I love!
We went Saturday. Â It still sucks. Â The beer is subpar, the servers are a pain, and you can't get service in some of the outside areas. Â I tried to get a rum and coke for the wife (who was sitting outside with the baby) and a Bengal IPA for myself, and the tender told me that she needed to see my wife's ID. Â Ok, no big deal. Â I understand that.
I get back inside, give her the ID, and she said that she needs to see my wife. Â I told her that my wife was outside with my newborn son, and I wasn't sending her in. Â She gave me the drinks, but they were $15!!!
Honestly, the only thing that this place is good for is air conditioning after you've been walking around New Hope all day.
Okay, I know that if I were being totally honest, I'd only give it 4 and a half stars, but I feel compelled to counteract the one and two star reviews here which after reading I must deem totally unfair since they're based on nit-picky "bs".
Triumph Brewery in New Hope, PA is one of those places I actually find myself craving from time to time. From the food to the service to the music to the atmosphere, I've generally found it to be a great experience every time I've been here. I usually order the Triumph Burger when I come here, and I have to force myself not to wolf it down. SO GOOOOD! One of the juiciest, best tasting burgers I've had anywhere. Â
I come here occasionally for their open mic night and, Â whether you're a musician or performer or just a music lover who who enjoys open mics, you'll appreciate that they have one of the best sound system anywhere. John, the sound engineer is top-notch.
They also have top of the line pool tables - very all maintained, and the view from the outdoor patio of the old-timey New Hope train station takes you back to another era. Very relaxing.
I would be remiss not to mention the beer. Since Triumph Brewery IS a brewery, they offer their own selection of 8 types of beer on tap. But ironically, here is where I would take a way half a point. Â Sometimes I really just want a bottle of Heineken, and I think it would behoove them to carry a selection of bottled imports for those that might want the option to not order the house brew. But , now - it looks like I' m the one being nit-picky :-)
Next stop, New Hope!
This review takes everything from food to beer to ambiance to service to prices into consideration.
I'll start with my favorite:
FOOD: I ordered a bacon cheeseburger which consisted of grass fed beef, cheddar cheese, and crispy bacon. It was definitely one of the BEST BURGERS THAT I'VE EVER HAD. I cannot think of any faults with the quality of this burger. It was cooked to perfection and tasted great. I wanted to take one home with me!
BEER: I ordered their cream ale and it was ok, but nothing to write home about. It was also a little annoying that they didn't have any prices for their beers (not in the menu at least, even an insert would have been nice). I think it was somewhere in the $5-6 range, however; I wouldn't pay that price for a beer like that again.
AMBIANCE: Spacious with plenty of room. There is a huge upstairs that can sit plenty of people. Much bigger than the Triumph in Princeton which is nice.
SERVICE: Our server was friendly and attentive and conversed with us about beer. He also mentioned that Triumph is planning on building somewhere in the Asbury Park area, which I can't wait for.
PRICES: $13 for a burger and $5ish for a beer is a little steep for me. The burger was pretty friggin awesome so I wouldn't mind paying that again, plus it was grass fed beef which tastes way better IMO. However, the beer I felt was a little overpriced. Kind of like Iron Hill, I tend to like these places more for their food than their beer. Although the beer is good, I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it.
Overall a great experience and definitely a solid choice if you are in the New Hope area.
In a town with lots of small bars, this is a great place for a group. After a wedding reception in the area a few of us wanted to go out for drinks. We came here because of it's size. Walked in, went straight to the bar and ordered some drinks, and sat outside.
Will update after I go back again.
I stopped in today for beers and lunch with my girlfriend, and was impressed with the venue, beer, and food. Â This is a non smoking venue. However, smokers can partake in the patio seating area at the rear of the restaurant.
The venue is new in construction and has a large bar as you enter. In addition, there are tables for dining around the venue and a second floor to the location. On days with nice weather, there is an outside dining area at the rear of the restaurant.
They have 2 pool tables and a steel tip dart board on the property. For lovers of live entertainment, they have a reasonably sized stage to hold acts (I'm not sure if it's a temporary fixture, or is there all the time).
In terms of food, it was delicious. I had the "fat boy" burger and it is loaded with flavor. My girlfriend had the salmon as part of the specials offered for restaurant week in New Hope. She also had a cheese plate as an appetizer. She too was satisfied with all her food.
For beer, I prefer IPAs and they have a nicely crafted one on tap.
Triumph is a must stop for anybody visiting the New Hope area.
I don't drink. Let me start there. Â But my friend does, and though drinks are a tad expensive at Triumph he's found several beers he likes and there's plenty of other things to choose from. Â If you're trying to pick some bar food to snack on, get the Margarita pizza. Â That pizza alone gets Triumph the four starts, it's delicious, and is pretty damn healthy for bar food. Â
I like Triumph because it's classy without being pretentious. Â Not being a drinker I sometimes find bars a little bit obnoxious, I can't handle second hand smoke and a bunch of drunken 21 year olds shouting and making out with each other isn't really my idea of fun. Â Triumph doesn't have that. Â People go to enjoy the music, the atmosphere, and to have a nice night out with friends while they enjoy their drinks... not just chug them down one after another.
I have never been disappointed with the food at Triumph of New Hope, but I understand that sometimes the things I find to be pleasing when I go out to eat differ from others. Â For instance, I appreciate smaller portions. Â If you put three times what I am supposed to eat in front of me, it's harder for me to say no and not indulge. When the portions are more controlled, I am a happier person. Â I like that I can order pretty much anything off the menu and not stick to a turkey burger or salad, and not feel as if I am sabotaging my healthy lifestyle too much. Â With that being said, the turkey pot pie I ordered was so delicious that I didn't leave anything on my plate. Â Not even one pea. Â Seriously. Â
Another thing Triumph excels at is presentation. From the food to the beer to the cocktails, Triumph really hits home with the creativity. Â It's not easy to make beer samples look beautiful, but Triumph figured it out and then some. Â I'm not really a beer drinker and even I wanted to try the sampler simply because of how great it looked at the table.
The service is hit or miss. Â Unfortunately, there have been a few occasions where appetizers or part of our orders were never brought to us or where the waitstaff seemed bored when taking care of us. Â I get it that people are not always going to be on all the time, but it's always a bit frustrating when that happens. Â All in all, though, the food and drinks are worth any of those issues.
Tip: Â If you are a foursquare user, you can get 15% off your bill (food and merch) with your check-in.
Meh. We were quite disappointed with Triumph. The beer was tasty, but their food was flavorless and bland. The service lacked as well.
I had their Walnut Chicken Salad. The chicken was fried (not my thing), the presentation was awful, and it was less than satisfying. The walnuts were actually the crumbs at the bottom of the bag. My husband ordered the wings (with their dry rub). They were lukewarm, the chicken was dry, and you could really taste the sugar in the rub.
Not sure we'll be back to eat, but to try their beer? Heck yeah!
I grew up about a mile and a half from the Princeton location, and I still call Triumph of Princeton "my bar." However, despite great beer and ambiance, I feel as though the food quality at the Nassau Street location has taken a turn for the worse.
Enter New Hope: close enough to Princeton, and set in a town that offers something completely different. New Hope and Lambertville are great, and you can hit up some great locales like River Horse Brewery in Lambertville ($1 for 4 samples!), the wine shop on Main, any number of the small shops, or just take in views of the Delaware.
The food here is definitely a step above the Princeton location (as I'm writing this, i feel like I'm spouting heresy against my hometown, but I'm all about truth). They have featured a "local" menu for a few years that is a great chance to sample some fresh local ingredients, and the menu staples are consistently good. The beer (though note the offerings do not match between Princeton, New Hope, and Philly...check their website for current draft lists) is still great, but unlike Princeton, the food here is mostly great as well. Ambiance is different than Princeton, with the option to sit outside right next to the old train tracks.
On the nice summer weekends it can be a bit harder to snag a table outside, but I've never had a problem during the week. Definitely worth a visit...fairly priced and a good time.
I came here for lunch with a girlfriend of mine on a random week day. Â The place was empty, which in some cases is great especially when ...
1) You're starving
2) It's lunch time.
After walking in the 90 degree heat mother nature was so nice to serve us that day, walking in this place blasting cold air was much appreciated. When I say empty. Â I mean exactly that . EMPTY. Â We were the only customers. Â Obviously we were seated immediately . Â Our waiter was a trainee. Â We thought that was a score ! That could only mean he'd be super attentive, because OBVIOUSLY whoever was training him would let him know that's just what you're suppose to do. Â FAIL. Â Though they were super nice ( when they were around ) The place is enormous and they were really hard to get a hold of. Â Eventually there was another table seated behind us, we now had companions in doing the head swivel every time some walked by. Â Us hoping it'd be a waitress/waiter. Â Most of the time us being wrong.
There were pool tables in this area also. Â But considering there was no music playing ( or it was playing but so low we didn't notice) and the place was empty. Â Having pool balls shot around was really disturbing. Â Especially when you are trying to hold a conversation, and there is nothing but pool balls clacking and echoing. Â
Ok anyhoot so on to the food. We had the cheese fries with bacon & scallion. Â With a ketchup and ranch dressing as dipping sides. Â The fries were good, but the cheese was disappointing. Â Not sure what kind of cheese was used, but though runny. It was more slimy then stringy. Â The bacon, scallion, and ranch dressing was delish.
Both myself and lunch companion ordered the triumph burger. Â Served on a brioche bun. Â I absolutely love brioche but this was just missing the "briochness" that makes brioche so delicious. Â Though we both ordered medium. Â Our bun was so saturated in blood when we recieved our dishes it was hard to enjoy. Â The burger was servef with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and fries. Â
Thought it was not spectacular. I would try this Triumph again. Probably would not order the same thing we did, and possibly go when they are a little busier. Â
Bathroom and place was clean which is always a plus !
I love visiting New Hope. Â My boyfriend's aunt lives in a gorgeous house right on the river, and we utilize her house, much to her delight, as a getaway spot from NYC.
We end up coming to Triumph Brewery often on our visits, being one of the more reasonably priced and casual establishments in the area. Â I'm always happy to come here, and enjoy it a lot, but I suspect that a lot of it has to do with the fact that I'm excited to be out of NYC.
The food is good, the beer is good, but nothing special. Â The service can be a bit spotty, and the seating options can be frustrating - during Oktoberfest, there was a guy playing accordion, that was really just plain annoying, I'm sorry to say. Â So we sat outside, where it was super bright and right next to the train tracks for their antique train that blows coal smoke everywhere. Â But it was the better of two evils.
They do let you take home sealed jars of beer, which is pretty cool. Â And you can take these jars and get a cheaper refill to any Triumph Brewery branch, I believe.
New into town and came to this brewery on a recommendation. The waiter was too busy organizing crayons to notice we were there but  after we were seated we started with the sampler beer option.. we were planning to order full meals after...
The Sampler Beers: Kolsh, Amber, Smoked, Porter, IPA and Pumpkin.
Kolsh: marginally better than Budweiser
Amber: bland-amber
Smoked: add two drops liquid smoke to amber
Porter: liquid shoe
IPA: a severely basic IPA
Pumpkin: compared to the above, this beer seemed kinda ok.
after this sampling, we decided not to stay for the food.
A really nice kid was my server, but he must have been overworked. A 15 min wait before even a hello or a glass of water. Then very long waits between return visits to my table.
Food was adequate. Nothing to write home about or to walk across the street for.
Maybe the locals enjoy and appreciate it. Not I.
I agree with the other reviews - their beer is excellent, especially the IPA. Have eaten there twice and was disappointed to see that the menu has drastically changed since our first visit.
The ambiance is great and it provides a cool respite from the heat of the afternoon. Don't expect free parking since this is New Hope but there is plenty of parking available - just make sure that you pay since they have a roving patrol that constantly checks for the required ticket in the window of your vehicle.
On our last visit we had the Spring Roll appetizer and it was excellent. a nice place to stop for a refreshing brew or house Merlot and I hope they work on their menu so I can give them another star.
I agree with Dave, the menu has changed and not so much for the better. Â My girlfriend and I would literally drive all the way up there to grab our favorite dishes; Chipoltle Chicken Pasta and the Seafood Pasta. Â Both are now off of the menu which stinks. Â The new menu isn't bad per say, it just doesn't have the large portion comfort food is used to have. Â Literally, we'd be ashamed of ourselves if we actually finished our meal because there was so much to eat. Â Apparently the new menu is a big complaint at the New Hope location.
As for the restaurant itself, bad ass. Â The place is very modern looking, spacious and is full of friendly staff. Â If you're just going in for a drink, they obviously brew their own beers there so try one or get the sampler. Â My personal favorite is the Rye Stout.
If you like beer, and you are in the area, stop by Triumph Brewing Company.
I had the beer sampler platter. Highlights were the Pilsner Lager and the IPA. You just don't see lagers at most micro-breweries because of the extra equipment it takes to make them...but this one was worth trying at for sure. As for the IPA...a great example of a balanced/tipping towards hops IPA. The rest of the beers were average, but nothing was horrible (I have had WAY worse at some breweries). I took home a growler of the IPA, but was done with it by the end...should have taken the Pils...
As for the food...a touch on the pricy side with small portions. For a brewery there should be some more "Man" friendly options, but I guess this 'IS' New Hope. I had the salmon, which was very acceptable and even tasty with good presentation. The scallops were tasty too, very well prepared with a strangely spicy red sauce.
Next time I am back in New Hope I will return to Triumph, but probably only for the beer.
