First visit: Â Busy busy place! Â Food was very good...large portion, decent price (everything on the menu is around $9.99!). Â Service excellent, food came out quickly. Only thing I didn't like is you could only get certain menu items after 4:30 pm...like mashed potatoes(?).
Second visit: Â Had the best burger EVER!
The wary Yelper will take this review with a grain of salt.
(And a plate of Tully's Tenders.)
There are those who say that absence makes the heart grow fonder, and while this is a questionable adage where overwhelming college roommates, ornery old family pets, and clingy younger cousins are concerned, it is all too apt when it comes to me and my relationship with Tully's. A regular of the Fairmount location for what we'll guesstimate is close to my entire life, Tully's Tenders and I have kindled a passionate love affair - we are Kel and orange soda, we are Napoleon Dynamite and tater tots, we are Harriet the Spy and tomato and mayonnaise sandwiches.
Much as with any instance of blind adoration, I do not care how bad they are for me, I do not care what others say about them, I do not care that finishing an entire platter of them in one sitting might make my heart explode. I would cancel a date with my best friend to hang out with Tully's Tenders. I have written sonnets to them. Last Christmas I made a fuss about freezing them and packing them in my suitcase (with the argument that it's cold enough in the hold of a plane to preserve them for the twelve-hour journey to California) just so I could have leftovers three thousand miles away. There are few things I love more on the West Coast than the food, and yet even when surrounded by platters of authentic Thai and decadent artisan pizza, I miss this particular incarnation of chicken more than I can say.
Being deprived also of a decent sports-bar in the Bay Area, Tully's, with it's probable fifty television sets and sports décor (most of it paying homage to local little league, high school, college, and professional teams), is like a temple of athleticism, a shrine to competition. On the whole the staff is friendly, the service is quick, and the popcorn is free. And if you don't like the Tully's Tenders, you are either lying, heartless, or having a bad day, and I will hear no more of your poppycock.
Tully's is one of the best places in Syracuse. There's great service, good food, and fun, laid-back atmosphere. I love the ama's popcorn and drink specials. Even when I don't want alcohol, there is a great pomegranate lemonade. For as long as I can remember, I've only had 1 of 2 entrees: buffalo chicken sandwich or the buffalo chicken salad... both are awesome! I'm sure they're not good for me, but it's totally worth it.
Definitely a keeper!
I'm not sure if Tully's is a local business, but I'd actually rather go to Applebee's. Â I'm all about supporting local, ya know? Â
Anyway, the food that I've had just isn't good, especially the chicken. Â Worst chicken that I can remember at a restaurant. Â It was too processed or something. Â I didn't care to look after I tried it.
For all I know, the burgers and other food items could be great, but I love chicken. Â
This place is a good place to get a beer and watch a game though, so keep that in mind.
I love Tullys!! Â I hate to admit but I spent the majority of my teenage years hanging and eating tenders at this particular location and now that I've left the area every time I come back home I request we stop by. Â The waitstaff is always friendly and helpfully answering questions about new items on the menu. Â And if you're looking to watch the game... look no further, there are a ton of TV's showcasing every sporting event on. Favorite food item on the menu is definitely the buffalo chicken sandwich, which is perfectly coated and dipped in the buffalo sauce. Â Yum! Â And if you're not in a food mood ... take a look at their drink menu! Â You can't beat the 23oz mixed drinks for $3.95. Â You can't find that good of a deal anywhere!
Review Source:Man....what happened to this place? Â I went back to the Cuse to visit my folks for a weekend, and we ended up at Tully's. Â I even told my gf to be prepared for the best chicken tenders ever.
Serious disappointment. Â Â
They've obviously changed all the recipes for the tenders. Â Bad move. Â They changed the sides. Â Bad move. Â They even changed several condiments. Â (Ranch, Blue Cheese, Onion Ring Sauce) Bad move. Â It's not that I'm against change....in most places I'm all for it. Â But there is a clear drop in quality, and my guess is that it's for cost savings. Â The big portions of good food is what made Tully's a value. Â Now it's just big portions of garbage.
Yeah, sorry, even if I lived in Syracuse I wouldn't go back to Tully's. Â It's a sad day when the best part of your sports bar experience consists of watching a drunk guy at the bar eat a hot fudge sundae without a spoon, then dump it on his shirt, then proceed to lick his own shirt. Â Actually, I would go back if I could see that again...
We tried three or four other "sports bars" in Syracuse last Friday. Â All were showing ONE of the two NCAA Sweet Sixteen basketball games that were on at that time. Â Maybe it's just me? Â Shouldn't sports bars with multiple TV's be able to show two different regional playoff games? Â (full disclosure - they were all showing the Tennessee game when we wanted to watch the Baylor game).
Tully's was our last stop. Â We bypassed the hostess and the carnival atmosphere of the dining room (picture kids running wild and popcorn on the floor) and headed for the bar. Â There were no bar seats but there was a great booth being cleared that had views of tv's showing BOTH games. Â We asked if we could sit there and were informed by the server that we would have to be seated by the hostess.
OK, I try to understand this policy, but it's just stupid. Â When you have many open tables why can't you just seat me? Â It was 9 pm! Â No one was waiting! Â We give in to the charade and head back to the hostess to return to the same table. Â Negative points for that.
Beer was cheap and they had lots of drink specials. Â Positive points for that!
The crab dip was cheap but should have been called Krab dip if you catch my drift. Â Yuck. Â Same with the buffalo tenders that came with something called blue cheese dressing that was actually unidentifiable. Â Negative points.
Service was great once we were seated and as noted above, good people watching!
Once the first game was over, we were hoping to watch Michigan State in the second game. Â Of course, it's at this point that the ONE tv out of probably a hundred tv's in the place that was showing this region, switches to a lost signal message, which continues for about 20 minutes. Â Until we asked the manager to fix it, actually. Â Negative points for not paying attention. Â IT'S A SPORTS BAR.
Oh well. Â Enough said. Â I doubt I'll be back to Syracuse anytime soon so nothing lost.
Tully's is a staple in Camlllus and is one of the first places you think of for a good time, as well as watching anything SU. It is the ultimate sports bar, with a flair for the family or if out with friends. For those that want the "family atmosphere," there is a dining room on one side, with an expanded bar on the other. I was here for dinner with my parents (bar side please!), but they also have great happy hour (food/during the week only) specials, in the bar area only
This is also a great place for everyone to head to after a high school event/game and/or to meet up with friends and family.
The menu has evolved over the years but they still have the crowd fav's (as well as the great popcorn-better than the movie theater!). Â I had the veggie quesadillas which were great!
If you are looking for something casual, where you can cheer on SU (or your favorite team), with friends or complete stranger's, then you have found your place!
The only drawback is parking, which can be alittle tight if it is really busy, but there is overflow parking in the Wegmans parking lot across the street.
Two words: CHICKEN TENDERS.
Plain or buffalo - they are fantastic and honestly the only thing I ever order when I come here. When I first came up here a friend of mine would rave about them and they lived up to the hype haha.
The place itself is a sports joint/bar and any inch of space that isn't covered with sports memorabilia is instead filled with a TV. I imagine it's a good time here when a major sports event is on but it's not why I come here. Seriously, even if sports are not your thing, come for the tenders, you won't regret it!
I used to kick butt at World Cup '94 pinball at this place. Go. Get a big beer. Get a snack attack. Be happy. The videogames are fun and entertaining, the food is the best darn bar/snacky food on the planet, and they give you a really tasty sundae on your birthday. Also, fantastic drink specials.
Man, I miss upstate NY sometimes.
Tully's good times took over an old Ground Round and created the same atmosphere just with a little bit more local feeling. Â You will have no problem deciding who the customers are routing for when the basketball game is on the TV. Â There are Syracuse University Orangemen banners and jerseys all over the restaurant.
Like the Ground Round it replaced there is free popcorn. Â The menu is about the same as well. Â Hamburgers, taco salads and chicken sandwiches. Â There are also several entrees to chose from as well.
A good place to watch the game or grab a quick bit to eat. Â For some real excitement cheer loudly for whatever team is playing SU.
