They have moved up to become one of our go-to spots in town. The food is consistent and delicious, they have a great wine selection that isn't full of the 'norms' and they have a great new addition to their outdoor patio that makes summer dining even better.

I love when I get to add a star to a review-and they've earned it!

Had a wonderful dinner last night.  Party of 3, each of us had a different entree, all three were amazing.  One couple walked by as they were leaving and raved about their meal as well.  I had ahi tuna on wasabi mashed potatoes, what flavor! Paired with a ZAca Mesa Syrah, all good! Waitress was wonderful, chef came out and was a blast.  Can't miss with Twenty 88

In town for two nights, my girlfriend and I walked from the lovely Bella Capri to the nearest Yelp-approved restaurant. We were at first put off by 2088's 80s-esque interior (sorry, that was a lot of 8s and 0s), and further dismayed by the group of divorcees (I'm generalizing) inside. But then we sat down outside and enjoyed a thoroughly delicious meal (I thought the ahi was spectacular) and perfect service (our waiter had perfected the right mix of wit and deference).

Not mind-blowing, but well worth a visit.

Great environment and friendly staff. I really love how personable Vince the owner is! He always takes the time to stop by the table to chat and see how we are enjoying our visit! Truly top notch service and a great overall experience.  Pleased to support a locally owned business.  Wishing you many years of success Vince!!

Great spot in Camarillo to grab a bite and some good wine. We were looking for small plates, so only had the beet salad and sliders, with a red wine flight. The burgers were tasty and two of the three wines were excellent. The service was friendly and the atmosphere is a nice balance between comfortable/casual with a little hip factor. We will definitely go back and try more items on the menu.

Went last night for a date with my wife.  Outstanding flavorful food.  Appetizer was a brie-like cheese with blue cheese in it, roasted garlic, and raspberries which we spread on small pieces of bread.  Unbelievably good!

Salmon on couscous for my wife and shrimp with pasta for me.  Yummy.

Red Velvet creme brulee for dessert was phenomenal!

Very good service and a nice chat with the owner.

    Definitely recommend!

Went to this charming place for Mother's Day because we're a HUGE fan of Bobby Watley who was featured as the music entertainment. He was fantastic, as expected! The menu was very good selection at reasonable prices, although I wasn't a fan of the desserts. Only down side was they didn't seem to have enough servers so service was a bit slow, but since we weren't in any hurry it wasn't that bad. Gave us more time to enjoy the music!

Will be back for more visits whenever Bobby plays at that venue!

Intimate setting, very romantic. I wasn't expecting the quality, and diverse menu, and great local wines. Nice place to spend an evening, lunch, or just an afternoon! Young energetic chef that's very creative. I go to 2088 routinely.

Went here last night for dinner and it was phenomenal.
Got a bottle of wine, the strawberry brushetta a side salad and the braised short rib.
The service was amazing and it was not crowded so I could enjoy my date.
Highly recommend this place to anyone.

(Date got a ravioli dish that he couldn't stop talking about; amazing food!)

    I'd go back.

I thought Tapas were supposed to be super small and not that pricey?! This place isn't really a wine bar like I thought but the service was great and the food was delicious. The truffle mac n cheese was a win and all the dishes there were pricey but yummy!

I got the panna cotta and it was alright! I would definitely come back!

Decent food, but overall room for improvement.  First of all, you get no bread or other hors d'oeuvres while you're waiting for your food.  This wouldn't be a problem if it didn't take them almost a half hour to come out with the first appetizer!  (Yes, I meant first, because we ordered two for the four of us, and the second came out 20 minutes after the first.)  Wow, that's never happened to me at a restaurant before.  And the appetizer that took almost an hour to arrive?   Their "Blue Fries" which are nothing more than french fries with a creamy cheese sauce.  So are you kidding me?  We had to wait 45 minutes to get french fries?!

At least the entrees arrived shortly there after.  The entrees were decent but not spectacular.  The four of us got the Chicken Oscar, Port wine chicken, Shrimp Fresco, and Surf and Turf.   My husband's surf and turf came with a filet that was a bit overcooked for medium rare--actually more medium, but the prawns and lobster bisque were excellent.  The chicken platters were pretty good but not outstanding, and same for the Shrimp fresco.

At the end of the dinner, I ordered a coffee which the waitress totally forgot about and for which I had to remind her.   At least she was friendly.

Overall, a very posh, urban place which has a lot of potential, but they need to improve on their food a bit, and details on their service.  Appetizers should come out together, not 20 minutes apart.   Some bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar would be a nice touch to keep our minds off waiting for appetizers, or prepare your appetizers faster.  And when someone orders something, don't forget it.

Great place to go for tapas and Wine. Service is always friendly. The goat cheese egg rolls are to die for. A few of the wines are over priced, but they do have tasty pairings and happy hour/specials.

So bought a Living Social wine flight and light menu special for this restaurant/bar. My wife was very excited to try a new place. She is the type that reads the menu prior to her visit and knows exactly what she wants and usually has my meal pegged too.

Atmosphere: Cool and Chic. When you walk in, it was packed. We had reservations and were greeted by the host. Not much personality, this is where the staff gets low marks, read on.

Service: Host was very busy and stressed. He seemed annoyed, in fact most of the staff seemed annoyed. It was a weird vibe. We were seated at the bar, quite comfortable, except the Real Housewives of Miami playing on the big screen directly in fornt of us, that was annoying! Pulled out our "coupon and placed on the bar. The grey haired gent at the bar approached and I showed him our coupon. Without any explanaiton of the coupon or any suggestions, just asked "red or white wine?" again seemed very annoyed. This vibe continued thru the night and my wife finally said "he is rude". I replied, I thought she was being a bit sensitive and relax. But as the night wore on, it became apparent while observing his interaction and others, they were one big bunch of annoyed people. Cannot qutie put my finger on why. Was ti the coupon thing, many people seemed to have it. Was it the stress of being busy? Just don't know.

Food: We were allowed one "light fare" each. so we decided to have the crab cakes and tuna tartar. We also ordered a wedge salad to split. My wife was starving and asked for some bread. The grey haired bar tender repiled "we have none". That was it, turned and walked away. Whoa. My wife then asked for the menu again and found aand ordered some truffle parmesan chips. The wait was OK, but they brought out the appetizers first. My wife wanted the salad and the chips first, oh well. I had the tuna, it was very good and nice presentation. My wife had the crab cakes, they were cold! I mean COLD. She sent them back. In the meantime the salad came, I mentioned we ordered to split, they did not split nor offer to do so. They did not even bring an extra plate. So we split it and used my plate from the tuna. the salad was not impressive a typical wedge salad. Then the chips came. they were like potato chips that had a bit of cheese melted over them in the micro wave. Soggy and very salty. My wifes crab cakes finally returned and they were fine, had to ask for more sauce to complete her plate. the amount of sauce vs the cakes, very small amount. The desert we ordered was the redvelvet creme brulee. My wife knows I love red velvet. It came and I had anticipated some blend of red velvet and the creme brulee, it was basically red colored creme brulee, no red velvet flavor. We ate 2 bites and left it. The grey haired waiter did ask if we liked it, replied not really. Did not offer another or any other comment.

Prices: Quite high for the quality. Our bill came to $88, then was adjusted back to $23, for the salad and the chips! If I had paid $88 for the small wine flights and the small amount of marginal food, this rating would have been 1 star!

We will not return, but did notice a quaint brick buliding across the street, went in and looked at the menu, will try next!

    Glass in our crab cakes!
My husband and I came in for a food and wine pairing special. We started with crab cakes. Mine was delicious. My husbands, on the other hand, was not. When he bit into his cake I heard a crunch like no other. He then proceeded to spit pieces of GLASS out of his mouth onto his plate. We were both in complete disbelief! I sent him to the bathroom to wash out his mouth while I spoke to our server. When I told her what happened she said "I'm sorry, this has happened before." WHAT? I was so shocked that glass could get into the food and more-so on more than one occasion! We were not comp'ed for our meal but given a second appetizer (not crab cakes). I have since contacted the owner on Facebook since his email was not correct on the website. He took the time to leave a choppy message on my voicemail to explain that I mis-understood the server and that she meant there were crab shells in the crab cakes before, not glass... Thanks for clearing that up Vince! Wow. Thankfully my husband did not bleed out from his insides from swallowing GLASS and not crab shells! We were very clear about what was in his food. Oh well. We loved this place. Unfortunately we will not recommend it nor return.

I am so happy to have a great, non-chain restaurant "close" by that I'm giving them 5 instead of 4 stars.  The food, service and ambience were great, and I will be back.

For dinner, I had the ravioli with fried spinach on top.  The spinach made the dish, and I applaud them for this bit of thoughtfulness.  I've had the scallops with champagne risotto in the past and that was also praise worthy.

After searching for a new spot to have dinner, my husband and I decided to try this place. The wait staff and owners are wonderful. The decor was modern and elegant. The food to top it all off was amazing!! We both agreed that we have not had a meal that tasty in years. We started with the ahi tartar ( mind you I am not a fish fan and I absolutely loved it) followed by both the 2088 sliders and the short rib sliders. Both were excellent. For dessert we had the dark chocolate raspberry bread pudding with homemade whipped cream. It was delicious!  What a great place. We can't wait to come back and let everyone know about this gem in Camarillo.

If you haven't been to Twenty 88, it's worth a visit.

PROS: Stylish/Modern, great service, creative menu, lots of seating options (bar, tables, patio), romantic ambiance (in the evening).
CONS: Slightly expensive, not open late enough, needs more vegetarian options.

While they have a full menu at Twenty 88, I haven't yet had a real meal there.  To me, it feels more like a great drinks, desserts & small plates kind of joint.  I've seen others ordering great looking cocktails, but I've only ordered wine.  Their wine selection is pretty diverse, (love that they offer local Socal wines), but I would like a few more options of each varietal.

I've recently gone vegetarian (like in the last 6 months) so I was worried that I wouldn't be able to eat when my friend (another vegetarian) and I showed up this weekend.  We did find a few small plates we could share - the bread sampler, goat cheese egg rolls, and a greek salad.  Our Sauvignon Blanc & Chenin Blanc paired nicely with every dish.

I'll definitely be back, but it won't be my every-weekend hangout.  If prices were just a little better, I could come much more often!

Bonus: Live music Friday nights (as of summer 2012).

The inside of Twenty 88 is nothing like anything else in Camarillo.  Sleek and modern, yet inviting.  My husband and I came here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised.  I had a side house salad and a cup of the soup of the day.  Incredible.  The soup was sweet potato jalapeno and it was divine.  I would have eaten the entire pot.  My husband had the steak sandwich and said it was one of the best steak sandwiches he's ever had.

The only reason I couldn't give Twenty 88 five starts is because I thought it was too pricey for lunch.  Now, granted, the food was top notch.  quality.  delicious.  But I felt like they were dinner prices for lunch.  Would it stop me from going back though?  Not a chance!

Small, comfortable place. Feels upscale but not snotty. The appetizer menu is good. I recommend the Ahi tuna tartar, panko crusted crab cakes and the wedge salad. Share this, and a bottle of wine with someone you like for a nice time that won't break the bank.

I really wanted to like this place.  Cool location, nice outdoor seating, seemed liked it had the makings of a good thing.  HOWEVER...The food was...bland, lukewarm, and not very complex.  I ordered the soup, tomato something, and sent it back because I thought it was Gazpacho...opps...it wasn't.  It was just cold.  The service...slow and overly friendly, (kinda like cultish creepy)  Decor...reminded me of Retro Pic-n-Save.  Don't think I'll be back.

    Too bad really...

I was really excited about eating at this place after reading the Yelp reviews. When we walked in the host was sort of annoying. He kept telling us that there were two tables opening up, but we still waited a bit. Which is fine, but the over enthusiasm was a little creepy. And just - there was something that was just a little off about him.

The menu itself, I mean the physical thing, was a little over the top. It had something like fake alligator skin that was teal. There was a pretty flower and a candle (also teal) on the table which was nice. Overall the atmosphere was OK, but I got a feeling that the lady at the table sitting next to us was looking over and judging us. The tables are maybe a little too close together.

We ordered the Blue Fries and the Pomegranate Chicken Wings for appetizers. The blue fries were pretty tasty. I don't normally like blue cheese, but these had a subtle and creamy flavor to them. The chicken wings were also good, except that we noticed what looked like hair on them. Only it wasn't hair, it was something like unplucked feather reminisce. It was gross, at least mentally we couldn't get over it.

For dinner I had the chicken with port wine sauce which was pretty good, but it wasn't without complaints. There was a random stray piece of chicken on the plate that looked a little like it had already be gnawed on. There was brie on the plate that was melted over the chicken (tasty, but looked kind of gross), and the brie was cut up off to the side as well, but looked a little mangeled. Charlie had the sea bass which unfortunately was overcooked. I had to give him some of my chicken to make sure he didn't go hungry. It wasn't just a little overcooked, it was cooked maybe twice as long as it should have been. The way the plates were presented it looked like they were trying to go for one of those high end restaurant presentations all fancy, but it fell a little flat. It was a little sloppy and the food was just ok.

We did end up getting dessert, the lemoncello mousse. It was very good, but maybe a little too creamy. It came with raspberry sauce that was very thin and soupy.

The waitress varied between paying too much attention to us and ignoring us completely. She was that fake kind of friendly that you never want to see in a waitress. I know they are faking it all the time, but let's just say that many waiters do it much better. She also reached over and touched Charlie several times, which I didn't really enjoy at all. Not only do I think the waitstaff should probably not touch the patrons, but keep your hands off my boyfriend.

Overall I think we could have gotten a great burger at someplace down the street for a lot less money. I doubt we'll ever be back.

Went here today for lunch with a colleague.

The decor is so divine - welcoming, upscale, clean and very comfy.

Had to try the Ahi Tuna salad, which was reasonably priced.  The waiter also recommended the soup of the day a roasted red pepper bisque.  The soup was to die for.. literally.. I could have just ordered a ton of it - it had a creamy perfect consistency and was such a delicious flavor - you HAVE to try it  : )  The Ahi tuna salad was also amazing. The fresh sashimi grade tuna was seasoned just right, and it was a nicely sized portion.

I will be back to try their 'evening' dinner and drink options.

Stopped there after a dreadful experience at the French Bulldog (a.k.a. the Yuppie Puppie).  Way a fan.  They have nice wines in their selection and pretty good beers, including some local ones.  Their menu is somewhat limited but everything on there looked great and it looked like there was something to appeal to every taste.  Had the sliders at the bar, which were pretty standard.  The churrasco was wonderful, perfectly cooked and delicately seasoned.  The owners and head chef were exceedingly nice.  We will definitely be back!!

After the Camarillo Car show my husband and I wandered down the street and found Twenty 88. We took a look at the menu and decided to sit at the bar and order small bites, to our surprise the food was great! The owners and the staff were very attentive and very helpful with our food and wine choices. We met another couple while sitting at the bar and had a wonderful time.
I'm certain we will be back and bringing some friends too! Nice place, so happy we wandered down the street after the car show!
    See you again soon.

So i have eaten at Twenty88 a few times now, i go in on random days, and even on lunch time, the food is always good, i have had just about every small plate and i have to say the mac and cheese is my favorite...my  boy friend loves the spicy garlic edemamme, i have tried recreating it at home after the chef gave me her recipe, but i just cant do it.... it doesn't taste the same.

I love that everyone is nice, the polite, i feel like i could walk in in sweats and a tee shirt, or in an evening gown, and be treated just the same. My new favorite wine is Rancho Ventavo Tempranillo. i recently became a member because of Twenty88.

i cant speak enough about this place it is so much fun, you have to check it out, and be sure to flag down the chef, she was really nice.

We had high expectations, but were very unimpressed. First, it was freezing in the restaurant. Things started off badly when one member of our party ordered a beer listed on the menu and the waitperson acted like he had never heard of it. After a few minutes he came back and said they didn't have that one. It was the start of what become an ongoing joke of the evening -- they didn't have a number of things listed on the menu.

The small plates menu listed sliders, so I ordered them. Oops, we don't have sliders tonight! Really? Isn't that a basic of a small plates menu? Someone else ordered the calamari, but after a few minutes the waiter came back and said they didn't have enough calamari to make a full order. The restaurant bills itself as a place for "small plates," but at 5:30 on a Tuesday they don't have two of the main items listed on the small plates menu! That person said they would have a Greek salad instead, but the waiter suggested he have the Waldorf, leading us to believe they probably didn't have enough of the Greek salad ingredients to make another one!

The food we actually got was tasty and well prepared. The entrees made it look like the chef was a bit too fond of the mashed potato, as all the plates were heaped with them. But again, it was good and no one complained about the food we were served. Our waiter didn't seem to know much about the food, however, as he did not properly describe the preparation of the croque monseiur and wasn't able to answer or ignored other questions.

About half way through our our evening they turned on the music, and it was distracting pop music, not the relaxing, low key music you'd expect.

My companions had a nice bottle of red wine they really enjoyed, but the white wine by the glass selection was nothing special.

We did not try the desserts, but I feel certain if we had, they would have been out of them. Not a good showing, and I won't be back.

Probably my new favorite place...except for the price tag.  $10 for a soju martini?  I can buy my own bottle of soju for $13 at Total Wine.  This is a beer-and-wine-only type of place, so they make soju martinis because for some reason that's allowed without a liquor license.  I am all for this; vodka is gross...and the soju martinis are DELISH!  I am so into this now; let's make soju the new trend please.

The food here is gastropub-esque; I had the tuna tartar and the sliders.  Both were delish...there is both ground bacon and prosciutto in those sliders!  Yum!  Oh my god they have crab cakes??  Next time, next time.

This place gets hoppin', so it may be best to make a reservation if you intend on dining here.  'Tis small.

The ambiance is great, the service was decent, and the decor is lovely.  All in a nice part of old town Camarillo...Yes!

Seven amigas and I met up for a let's-catch-up dinner at Twenty 88 a couple Fridays ago.  I kept saying and hearing my friends say, "This was a good choice."  This corner restaurant in Old Town Camarillo has chic ambiance, incredibly friendly (and fun!) staff and scrumptious food.  We ordered tons of appetizers and main dishes to share.  Everything was bursting with flavor and was served at appropriate temperatures (a few of us had read reviews about supposed-to-be-warm foods coming out cold, but none o'that happened).

However, this did happen: After trying the mmm-mmm-good garlic edamame, I asked who had ordered it, to again, praise the choice.  Turns out nobody had, but it was so crazy amazing, we decided to keep it & split the cost.  Also, they were out of Shock Top beer, so Stella it was.

It's a small spot so I suggest making a reservation.  I'm so glad I did.

We had a really great time here. Dressed like bums in flip flops and sweatshirts, nobody batted an eye at us - even though the restaurant was very well dressed in general.

We sat at the bar, and enjoyed conversation with the bartender and shared critiques with the owner.

I had a Moscato from Australia, cheese plate, and fries... and topped my final meal off with a Moscato Sorbet (nice touch).

It's worth trip - and I plan to return for a wine-night with my girlfriends because the wine list and cheese plate were excellent.

Overall, nice location, lots of parking, nice atmosphere, nice staff, changing menu (the chef makes creations in the back on the fly!) and good wine.

Loved the ambiance, service excellent, very tasty food, priced reasonably!  I want to go again to eat.  Wish it was a full bar, tho....
I was with 5 other friends, and because there was a birthday party there, the place was full.  While we waited, the waitress kept coming over to reassure us that one party had already paid their bill, so it shouldn't be too long!  well, it was, but we stayed anyway, and they brought us drinks while we waited, and free home made potato chips, with something really yummy on them.
None of us was disappointed, we all loved the food when we finally sat down, and all 6 of us wanted to return.
We wanted their menu as a Clutch purse....

Went here for a friend's birthday dinner. I was apprehensive after reading other reviews, and sadly, they were right on target. The service was great - couldn't have asked for more. But the food was mediocre at best. I had the sweet potato gnocchi and was very disappointed...the dish looked nice, but it had absolutely no taste. Major bummer.

I walked by Twenty 88 on my ways to get my nails done at POSH just a few doors down (Brandon rocks for nails) and picked up the stylish, yet minimalistic, menu on the table outside this new restaurant.  I was promptly greeted by one of the owners, Vince.  "Come on in, I'll buy you a glass of chardonnay," he said.  I was already eyeing the Riesling on the menu, "How about a Riesling...after I get my nails done?" I asked somewhat jokingly, he agreed!

I returned and was thrilled to see such a modern, sleek, yet welcoming, minimalistic, design and atmosphere.   Happy hour included $4.00 wines and appetizers.  The menu was very Soho NYC without any attitude.

I had the truffles warm, hand cut potato chips for an appetizer.  I decided to share dinner with hubby and ordered to go the sweet potato gnocchi ($14) over a small bed of sauteed  spinach with pine nuts.  Yummy...  we also had the freshly made daily red beet salad ... very good.. but a bit small...

A big table that seats about 15 hugged the corner near the front of the restaurant and had me thinking about a Christmas party or chef tasting party for a group.

If you live in Camarillo or if you are going to the Camarillo outlet mall, stop by and tell them Amanda sent you, won't you?

Great as a dinner place, a wine bar, great happy hour deals and cool in Camarillo. Go!
