So far everything we ordered was great! Â I loved the chips and guacamole it was fresh and perfect. Â I will also recommend you stop by on the bingo night, it was a great way to unwind after a long day. Â We also ordered the BLT, it was so large we ate it the next day as well. Â A fun bar and to our surprise great food!
Review Source:Uncle Mike's looks like another seedy bar off the highway. Â But don't let appearances fool you. Â It is actually a very "marketed" establishment. Â What I mean by this is that it has a chain / corporate feel to it. Â The selection of beers is impressive. Â Flat screen tvs can be found all over, for your viewing enjoyment.
As far as food goes, the wings are probably their strongest suit. Â With 11 different sauces and 59 cent wing specials on Sun and Mon, it makes for the quintessential beer drinking experience. Â They come in a myriad of spiciness, and the top two hottest are made with Trinidad Butch Scorpion pepper (world's hottest) and Jolokia - you have to sign a waiver to eat these as well as pay per wing. Â I opted for the mango habanero version which is #3. Â My mouth felt like I kissed a volcano where the lava spews out. Â It was that damn hot. Â For 15 min, I felt a throbbing, pulsating sensation in my lips like I just had 5 cc of silicone injected into them. Â Something is very wrong when I use adjectives like throbbing and pulsating to describe my dining experience. Â The up side is that beer never tasted so good.
They also have a gimmicky menu that is titled "Say Uncle" where you get gigantic portions. Â I had the BLT version which comes with a half pound of bacon. Â Unfortunately, this was pre-cooked weight and I still felt hungry afterwards...I think that I was more disappointed in the fact that a half pound of bacon couldn't satisfy me...don't wanna know what my cholesterol levels are.
Other menu items show a more "progressive" cuisine level that you would not expect from a dive bar. Â I definitely did not expect to see an organic black bean veggie burger. This goes to show that they have put a lot of thought into composing a menu that caters to a wide audience. Â But that may also be part of their undoing, in that most of the food is just decent. Â I think the food was meant more to complement the beer than anything else, but also be a fresher take on your traditional bar menu.
I come to Wisconsin to go to Woodman's for New Glarus and others and often stop for a cold one when I am nearby, and they have a nice New Glarus selection. The other tap offerings are impressive and nice printed menu with the ABVs and serving size and prices. As a beer bar it is pretty good.
For the food, I was not too impressed. My barbecue bacon cheddar burger was OK, but not too flavorful and the bacon was not fully cooked, while my wife's Kobe burger was also nothing to write home about (and should have been for 14.95).
And I would also not recommend sitting at a table-the waitress came by as we were taking off our coats and did not return for 15 minutes to take our drink orders-we switched to the bar when seats opened up where we had improved service (which is usually the opposite of what you normally do!).
I give it this rating as a beer bar with the selections and quantity of taps and prices. I would say skip it as a restaurant.
Okay, so we went here as a back up because BW3's had a long line. Â So, the thing that really killed the experience was the waitress.... and I don't normally yelp about service, but this chick was pretty bad. Luckily we were there in no hurry at all with limited expectations. Â So, some of the highlights, in a bad way I suppose:
*Waitress approaches table, we ask if wings are breaded (gluten allergy) and order a few drinks. Â She comes back about 10 minutes later, no drinks, asks if we are ready to order? Â I ask about the wings, she says, "Oh, I didn't ask but I think they are fine" Â HUH? Â I tell her to go ask...and bring my wine!
*Waitress brings wrong beer
*Waitress forgets blue cheese
*When asked if I could have my 10 wings (10.95) with 2 sauces she says no...proceeds to tell me I should order 2 sets of the 6 wings (6.95) each if I want different sauces...I say, duh, no.....me thinks not, thats and extra 3 bucks...sheesh...principal at this point....
*waitress goes on a rant about "how dare some white guy call her whoopie goldb." Â Okay, not appropriate.
Food, meh. Â Def wouldn't go back....
I will never give this place another dollar. Our party waited over a half an hour for their first drink so some of us went to the bar to get drinks. The bartender ended up losing our tab and our credit card. We waited over an hour and a half for our food and most of it was cold when it came out and they completely forgot one entree. Â The service was horrible, the food was mediocre and the tables were dirty. Â The waitress sure couldn't remember the napkins, plates, Â your order or to bring the bill, but it took her less than a minute to take the credit card that they didn't lose and get her money since they added over $30 for tip. This place is an over priced joke. I think they are hoping you will be so drunk from their enormous beer selection that you won't notice how horrible everything else is. I would've gave them 0 stars but Yelp wouldn't let me.
Review Source:Took OVER an hour to finally get our food (12 people) and server forgot to put husbands food in. Â Luckily he got wings too, she remembered those but they were cold. Â Newserver was slow and clueless. Â Â Then they lose the credit card that was used to pay bill with. Â Will never set foot into this place again!!!
Review Source:I was excited to see a packers bar so close to our hotel. When me and my guy went there we were disappointed. Â The bar is shaped weird. Boat load of tvs. Offer 50 kinds of whiskey but miraculously didn't have the one whiskey I was looking for. Getting a bartender to serve you can be more of a chore then trying to get a taxi in a suburb. It was noisy to no end and gave me a headache we ended up leaving and opting for the bar in the hotel
Review Source:Service is total crap! O excuse me what service?? Everytime we go to the soft Dallas meant we stand there with their hands in their pockets for 15 minutes for people to even acknowledge that we are even there. This time we did not wait and walked out never again will we frequent this establishment!!! If you're not regular I would suggest you here go unless you don't mind waiting for someone to acknowledge that you even exist! Sad thing is, there food if you ever get waited on, is actually pretty good. But the service totally sucks!!!!!!!!!!
Review Source:I don't drink much, so it's strange for me to be sitting at a pub in the first place.
But to then rave about the food? Yep. Absolutely.
Uncle Mike knows his stuff. I want to hug and kiss all over this man. The food was right on point. Wings were great. Chopped salad was huge, gorgeous, and of the caliber you'd find at much fussier places. Hennessy burger (mushroom, swiss, and onions) was one of the best that I've had in ages.
Server was awesome, very friendly and helpful.
My belly was full, and Beth was very happy.
Not my 1st ttime here but it was my 1st time trying the wings. I am a very picky when it comes to wings. They need to be cooked well done with no globs of fat remaining....and the sauce needs to be up to par. They offer a very nice selection of different sauces and I chose the classic bbq as well as the secret uncle mikes sauce. These wings were simply put some of the very best wings I''ve ever had. I was quite surprised to be honest. I typically come here for the variety of beer and sausage pizza, but I''ve just discovered my favorite place for wings! Yum!
Review Source:For a Friday night dinner on your way from Chicago to the great northwoods this place fits the bill. Â
Now the bar itself was full so our family of four needed to sit outside which was nice enough under the pear tree. Â Beer to menu is impressive and at only $4.50, pretty reasonable. Â I especially liked the Rhinelander Chocolate Bunny stout which wad basically a smoother Guiness. Â
The reuben, chicken wings, thin crust pizza and south of border burger were all very good. Â That and four specialty beers and a soda came to about $70. Â I may be skipping my regular Brat Stop visit for awhile. Â Food and service has been slacking there on recent visits but was excellent here. Â
Same Kenosha exit or if you miss it, go to the next north of 50 and circle back. Â East side of 94.
Been here several times. Great beer selection, great atmosphere. Excellent food.
Bathrooms are a joke for a place that size and amount of people. Â Guys are urinating in the sink due to only one toilet. Â
Table service is SLLLOWW. Â
The reason I came back is for the food. Â I am hoping the owners will improve on the EASY stuff and make it 5 stars across.
I reserve a 5-Star rating for places that I would go out of my way for. Well, I regularly drive 20 minutes, past a lot of northern Lake County bars, to have their burgers (which are the best!) and endulge in a different beer(s). It can definately get busy and loud on weekends and during football season which causes parking issues, but I still go. The beer selection is simply incredible; 250+ beers they told me which includes every Bell's on tap plus another 50+ on tap. If your going for the first time, try to go a little off-peak so you can sit down and enjoy awesome food and beer without the craziness. Keep up the good work!!!
Review Source:Really upset by the service and food today.. first off no side salad? Seems odd even though you are able to do one as a side dish??? Secondly 6.95 for a kids.meal?? And then an additional $2.50 for a drink? A little upset considering you only had 3 options.....
Service was ok.... Could have been better..... Only saw her once when food came out and then the bartender gave us our check.....
Usually everything is great....
Let me toot my horn for a minute. I know beer. My love of beer has led me to moonlight at a beer bar that has the largest beer list I've ever seen, and with that said I'm very impressed with Uncle Mike's offerings. They have one of the most well rounded beer lists I've ever seen, tapping some nicely selected beers from all over the world. I had tried their sister pub this past summer and liked what they were doing near the lake in Kenosha, but the list is a notch above Capt. Mikes. I had a Reuben, and to be honest it was just ok but I wasn't really there to eat so I ain't mad. My friend had the South of the Border Burger and he loved it. Â The service was friendly and the bar maiden was quick to offer samples of the beers I had questions about. All in all it's a pretty cool place right off of I-94 and it looked like the had a nice patio for summertime imbiberation.
Review Source:Lots of beer selections. Â The wait staff was okay. Â Very loud inside.
Wings were watery and the cook must have accidently dropped the hottest sauce or peppers they have on my medium wings. Â I ate the tainted wing and my mouth was seriously on fire for 15 minutes. Â I told the wait staff and they offered me some tortilla chips. Â Ugh that didnt' help at all.
I wasn't impressed at all and I'd only consider going back because my friends would want to go there.
Although they have a fantastic beer selection the service is something that needs a serious improvement. I have been there five times now and everytime the "talent" has little to no personality and sees their guests as an annoying interuption to thier day. If I ever decide to go back here it will be for a hard to find beer and not because the "people standing behind the counter" who call themselves bartenders made me feel welcome.
Review Source:OMG, I was referred to this place by someone at the Harley dealership close by......this place claims to have a breakfast skillet worth waiting an hour for. Â I've been to Frank's a few times and loved it, so I thought I'd compare. Â What a waste of time and calories....it was a disgusting, greasy mess that I do believe was "microwaved"! Â To top it off, the sausage they used was "pizza" sausage and not even breakfast sausage! Â It was so bad that I had to send it back! Â Very disappointing also was how many beers they had to chose from, but ever one that we had was WARM! Â YUK! Â Don't waste your time....I'd have rather have eaten a happy meal at McDonald's!
Review Source:Went last Sunday at 3:30 for lunch and a beer with my wife. We sat down and waited to be served. After 2 servers walked by and not acknowledging us, we went and sat at  the bar. no worries, we like to belly up. We wanted menus to order food, but getting a bartenders attention was difficult. It wasn't like they were busy, there were three servers standing and talking at the end of the bar with a friend. After asking for a menu from the gentleman bartender we had good service and the food was actually good.
Review Source:Yes, do this place if you LOVE beer like me. Your taste bud's salivate when you see the WALL of beer from all over the country AND world. It's not all just bottled. They have a million varieties (ok, not a million, but a lot) on tap. Yum. Food's not bad if you ARE in need of grub. Fight night's popular here. But, if you do decide to go then, get their EARLY. It's a bar... so don't expect loungy atmosphere. If you're a beer lover like me, who cares. Just pull up to the bar and drink the night away.
Review Source:Uncle Mike's has a huge selection of bottled beer from all over the country and the world. There is also a very respectable selection of beers on tap. Yes, they do have Miller Lite, but I think that is the law in Wisconsin.
This is a welcome oasis that sits right next to 94, so it is convenient to stop when I am traveling through the area.
The atmosphere is not so good. It is setup like a sports bar with a million TVs. The good thing is that as long as the Packers are not playing they actually have a wide selection of shows playing on the different screens. It is not all sports.
This place is really loud, even when it isn't packed. The acoustics make it impossible for someone like my wife to talk to the bartender. Her voice just cannot overpower the noise.
They serve food too. The sandwiches that we tried were good, but the beer is the real reason to come to Uncle Mikes.
So I have some gripes with the atmosphere, but the beer selection and the location ensures that I will be back.
First and foremost... Â The beer selection is great fantastic plain and simple. Â They have Dog Fish Head 120 Minute IPA which says alot. Â However... I am 42 and at this age the food becomes very important. Â So.. 5 stars on the beer selection (and price) and the food is 1 star. Â That makes 2.5 but I will round down because the the "Homemade Guacamole" was as as brown as my hair used to be. Â We tried... Chicken Chili, yuck. Â Chips and Guac, yuck and the pizza, fairly yuck.
Note: Â We went to Uncle Mikes for lunch on a Saturday. Â They were short staffed but still good. Â I am just wondering if it were night and we were drinking a lot more... Â Would the food become magically better?? Â Not going to go back to figure that one out. Â Dos Stars!
Uncle Mike's is a great find along the highway when I want to stop at Woodman's or head  up to Milwaukee.  Don't be thrown off by the large goofy sign out front, this is a quality establishment with good food and a huge beer list.
Their craft and import beer selection is impressive and very reasonably priced. Â They always have some newly released local-to-Wisconsin seasonal brew I cannot get in Chicago, so I usually go for that. Â
The few times I have been there I have just wanted a drink or gotten their wings, which are pretty darn good. Â I look forward to going back next time I am in the area for a brew and maybe I will try their pizza next time.
Beer selection is amazing, as is the number of beers available on tap. Food was very good. I had the turkey sandwich (better warmed up than cold) and my husband had the Reuben which he said was one of the best he's ever had.
We sat at the bar so the service was tag-team, but our only complaint is with the prices not being listed for all their beers. The tap beers had their price posted, but the bottle beers did not. We were quite shocked to get the bill and see a $9.50 bottle of beer. The beers are listed on the wall, but it would be nice to see prices, or a star system with price ranges.
We will definitely be back, but we will be sure to ask about beer prices BEFORE we order.
Uncle Mike's has a great selection of beer, at a decent price. We didn't try the food, so I can't give a complete review, but for now, it's A-OK with this guy. I don't want to recommend drinking and driving, but if you happen to be on the highway and in need of something to quench your thirst, make a detour...
Review Source:The beer list is awesome, food is above average, and the prices are good, but on this occasion our service was a bit lacking. Maybe she had a few too many tables going at once.
She wasn't the most knowledgeable about the beers, but I guess with that many on tap and in bottles, who could be. She did however charge us for wings we never ordered, and a beer that was brought out wrong and sent back. She took those off the bill and corrected the problem so it wasn't that big of a deal.
The food at our table all looked good. I had Uncle Mikes Major BLT and I have to say it was awesome. Waffle fries are a great vehicle for ketchup and I always enjoy them, and these were cooked perfectly.
Seems to be a good place to ride to because there were a bunch of bikes parked outside. Made me jealous I didn't have mine.
There were also some people playing volleyball outside when we left. Not sure if that's connected to the bar, but I would have to assume it is.
I'll be making another trip here to eat and have a few cold ones again that's for sure.
Uncle Mike's has a great beer selection, which is what drew us there in the first place. Â However, they do not tap a new cask conditioned beer Friday as advertised, which was a bit disappointing. Â The food is decent, but it often takes a while to arrive. Â As for the service, it can be hit or miss. Â We've had some great bartenders and waitresses, but also a couple very bad ones. Â Overall, a good place to have a few beers and relax.
Review Source:another location added to our lunch adventures. Â we started with the deep fried green beans. Â were really fresh and lightly breaded. Â were served with marinara (would do it again with the ranch instead.)
my friend and i both did the dairyland cheeseburger with cheddar and the waffle fries. Â we'll be back. Â there were so many menu options, it was difficult to make a decision. Â nice staff. the higher ceilings make the smoking a little more tolerable. Â would be even better smoke-free.
It has an awesome beer selection, but I was more impressed by their prices. Even the better beers were really fair priced (La Fin Du Monde was like $4.00 I think) and they have regular, major label beers that are $3 or less if you aren't a beer snob. On the weekends it seemed to get a fair collection of bros, and the normally beer-savvy staff gets replaced with a less knowledgeable breed. Basically a really fun place to go for lunch after shopping at the local mall, or a fun place to go out to on a Friday night.
Review Source:Husband and I wandered in here after hitting up Woodman's and doing chores at his folks all afternoon. Â Place has a great beer selection - over 250 I believe. Â An impressive amount of smaller Midwest brews were featured, several of them on tap. Â There's also a list of 22 beers that are only $2.50 a bottle and includes Lagunita's Censored and Bell's Amber.
Our server was great, knowledgeable about the beers, (a home brewer, to boot!) and quite determined to help me find something vegetarian on the menu, which wasn't really happening. Â Standard bar fare, and apparently offered in behemoth portions. We ended up happily enjoying the pizza pretzel with marinara though. Â I hasn't expecting much, but have to say the marina was fresh with real herbs and the pretzel was perfectly cooked and had the added surprise of being stuffed with garlic and parmesan. Â yummy...
Decor was lacking, place was half full of gambling games, and maybe this is just my being a city person, but I can't help but feel a bit uncomfortable about a 'highway' pub (as in off 94) pushing cheap drinks with no public trans or taxis anywhere in sight. Â But all in all, its a great stop if you're in the Kenosha area. Â I'm sure I'll be back.
Well first of all it has about 50 beers on tap, nice. Â Inside full of TV's and video games. Â Bar is located in center of room with tables scattered throughout. Â They do have outside seating also for the summer months. Â This is a very good place to hang out with some friends and try a few different beers.
