Don't waste your time or money. Â this place was recommended to me by friends that live here. Â the bartender managed to serve me a beverage, take my food order, and throw my food at me without actually speaking to me. Â fish and chips with no silverware or option to attain any. Â Food was digestible and basic average bar food. Â Service (I have low expectations) was terrible. Â I travel for a living and am always looking for something local and real. Â this place is a unfriendly dump. Â bartender should get a job as a lighthouse keeper.
Review Source:My husband and I like to find good breakfast joints and this was recommended to us. Â I don't know what Andrew (see review below) was smoking but there isn't any breakfast for $5. Â The coffee is $2, and omelets are a bit spendy I think, at $9 - $11. Â The hashbrowns are usually really really good though and the omelets are big enough to take home for another meal. Â My biggest complaint is that they are usually understaffed and so service is pretty slow. Â We went on father's day - they had two servers and one cook for the whole place - took at least 45 min for our food. Â I have to say to the mgmt - schedule enough staff to serve your customers in a timely fashion - even though the food is good, I won't likely be back for a while after I had to waste over 1 1/2 hours for a quick breakfast.
Review Source:It's a pretty nice bar. Â I mean, they have a BUNCH of TV's EVERYWHERE so it's great for watching the game. Â The food is pretty good for bar food. Â Sam's Saloon has a popcorn machine that is constantly popping fresh popcorn and you can have as much as you like. Â All in all, it's a good place to go if other bars are filled that night.
Review Source:i thought I'd give this place another try, since last time they were out half the beers on their tap and I was really hungry. Â I just ate the WORST practically-inedible hockey puck burger EVER. Â The black ipa was good- thanks Widmer. Â The waitress,Danielle, was really great--5 stars for her, negative stars on the food and price. My chewy lunch was definitely not an $8 burger. A beer and unfrozen beef patty with fries should not cost nearly $13 on a Wednesday afternoon--and, in Kennewick, a 200-mile half-day's drive from Portland. Â If you're a fly that really likes to watch 12 tv's at once, you'll love it here--I wasnt sure which one to look at, so I watched the four in front of me. Â Paper towel stations at every table--"are people really that messy here?" I'm thinking. Â I'll most likely never be back to this joint. Â Part of me wondered if I should have gotten the $5 mini tacos I spotted on the distant digital menu in the corner, though the other part thought they might be comparable to the hockey puck I was already choking down, or worse. Â If I'm going to spend enough to buy 8 Wendy's burgers (which taste better) and a six-pack of Widmer (the least expensive micro brew you'll find in a store in the nw), I'll either do exactly that, or go some place that at uses fresh meat and knows how to cook it.
Review Source:I've noticed that some nights it's really crowded and other nights you will only see 3 other people in the bar. And I'm not talking the difference between a weekday and a weekend, both times I've been here were on the weekend.
The first time was awesome. Lots of people, karaoke in the back, awkward sightings of former middle school teachers flirting with students they taught years ago. And excellent trash cans (the drink) to get you through said awkwardness.
The second time we ventured in there since it was walking distance from our friend's apartment. Completely deserted.
Maybe the karaoke nights are just more popular and you should stick to those nights. Unless you like an empty bar.
There were about 12 brews on tap (with about 3-4 of Ellensburg's own Iron Horse Brewery--woo woo!). Â We hung out here on a Saturday night after a movie. Â There was a decent and varied crowd here. Â We all shared a dish of nachos--it was pretty huge.
If you want popcorn, you can scoop up your own for free from the popcorn machine in the corner. Â And if you want to dance in a stripper pole, there's one in the back corner as well.
The one thing I love about Washington is that all places that serve hard alcohol have to serve food; cuz you know you gotta have fries when your drunk. Â So kudos to Uncle Sam's for taking up a notch and serving yummy food! Â But the most important words you should read in this review are
$2.50 RUM AND COKES AND GIN AND TONICS!
So stop whatever you are doing now and run down and order one!! Â This place is alcohol heaven! Â Inexpensive drinks, a large variety of drinks and beers, excellent food and lots to do (TV, pool tables, electronic games, pull tabs). Â A friend of mine raves about their pork chop dinner, which I think could rival that at a fancy restaurant.
A group of my friends has been trying to get together weekly or so for dinner, drinks, etc. Â I was a bit hesitant this week when I was told it would be at Sam's (why the hell are we going to a bar for dinner?). Â Once again, it was a lesson that I should just shut up and do what I'm told.
First, I was surprised that the place wasn't obnoxiously loud, blaring crappy music. Â Second, there was an actual menu...with three folds...and it had cuts of meat, not just burgers. Â Their special was a 12-oz ribeye dinner, for the low, low price of $15. Â I went with that. Â
My biggest surprise was when it arrived. Â Perfectly cooked (why is it so tough to get medium rare?), nicely seasoned, and not riddled with fat and gristle. Â I'd be willing to say it's the best steak I've had in town. Â Also came with a baked potato, some tasty corn, and a house salad, all pretty good. Â The potato was smaller than average and just slightly dry, but not bad and forgiveable based on everything else.
Service was good for a bar, our server came around several times, provided timely refills, and was generally attentive without being irritating. Â It wasn't busy, so this probably wasn't too tough on her, but she made the effort.
I didn't look closely at the drinks, since I wasn't indulging tonight, but did hear her report they've got 32 beers on tap, and it's not all the watered-down swill typical to a dive bar  (I noticed Rolling Rock on tap, so it's a good thing I didn't go to college here....).  Presumably they've also got a selection of bottled beers & wines, and I recall getting mixed drinks here years ago, so the liquor flows as well.
Bottom line, the food is worthy of a stop, and there's no reason to leave thirsty. Â I'll be back. Â And hopefully someone else can drive next time.
