Great place in my book. Patrick is very knowledgeable and will educate you on his great selection of wines to the extent that you wish. He refused to let me pay for my incredible tasting consisting of some great wine and generously poured. Really a stand up guy and place. I will be back for more great wine and camaraderie. Thanks again!
Review Source:We came in to try some wines and were disappointed with the lack of information the owner gave us about each wine. Â He also took off to answer a phone call (and chat with the friend who called for five minutes) having served everyone else but me. Â
Points awarded for tact when recommending expensive wines that might have been out of our price point. Â Selection is decent.
If you are looking for a down-to-earth wine store & tasting bar try Uncorked! The owner, Patrick, specalizes in excellent "price performer" wines. Mostly smaller boutique wineries that are often associated with leading wine makers there is always an interesting array of wines both in the shop and the wine bar ( which now also includes some interesting beers!).
I've been coming here for several years and always enjoy the wines offered at the tasting bar as well as those in the store. And if you are ever not tha sure of which to  try Patrick is a wealth of knowledge!
Highly recommend Uncorked!
Nice little shop that has good flights for winetasting. The owner was very sweet, he spent a lot of time chatting with us about the wines. We also ordered a cheese plate, which was really quite good. We ended up leaving with a couple of bottles and a newfound love for Toscano cheese dipped in Syrah - fabulous!
Review Source:Uncorked as a varied selection of wines. Â I prefer the Napa region, but you can buy French and Italian wines also. Â Uncorked carries champagne and beer as well. Â The people are friendly and the place has a comfortable ambiance.
My wife and I like to go there for a bottle and a flight, and then take the bottle across the street to Da Mario across the street for dinner. If you buy a bottle of wine at Uncorked, they waive the corkage fee at many local retaurants.
Now this is a wine tasting room that I can get down with.
Seeing as how I'm a far cry from your average wine guy (you know, the sweater vest type), the typical wine room doesn't really fit my style. A bit too buttoned up for my taste, really.
But Uncorked! has some funk to it. From the wall mural to the fact that they also carry amazing microbrews (uh, Old Rasputin, anybody?), I could tell that this was my kind of spot. I came in here with a group of four and had a pleasurable tasting courtesy of the owner (I forget his name at this point....which I feel bad for because he was amazingly laid back and NOT a wine snob).
Will be coming back here.
Just came back from visitng this local wine shop. Â There seems to be a primary focus on localish wines, which is welcome, however I was a bit disappointed to see that there were no offerings from the 2 wineries with tasting rooms on Big Basin Way. Â
All in all it's a fun little shop if I want to look for a smaller or localish winery selection
Good place, never bought a bad wine there. I like to go on Friday afternoons when I can, pay $10 for a flight of 3 x 2oz pours (there's also a higher priced flight) and then buy the wines that I liked. Friendly owner, not wine-snobby, great prices at both $20 range and $50 range if you want.
10% discount on purchase of 12 bottles and tasting flight comp'd if you do.
Stopped by this charming little wine shop and wine bar as part of a Dishcrawl event with about eighty other folks, so please adjust your expectations accordingly. Â Eighty people was a few too many for this small, wine-filled space, and things got a little stuffy.
One side of the room is taken up by a tasting bar, reasonably large for a wine shop this size. Â The rest of the room contains wooden racks displaying a fairly good selection of wines. Â There are a lot of wines available at the $16 price point, with both somewhat less expensive and considerably more expensive bottles scattered around as well.
Some number of the bottles have little notes about them, but the majority are not described by more than the information on their labels ... I saw some familiar names, but would assume one could rely on some guidance when not visiting the store with eighty of one's closest new friends.
They advertise a happy hour ( $7 glasses of wine rather than $10 ), and were relatively friendly when cornered, though not everyone pouring had details of this aspect of their operation. Â Eighty folks is admittedly a lot of folks for a small place like this, but they did seem more interested in spending quality time with some people than with others.
The wines they chose to pour - a Domaine Sonoma Chardonnay, Shooting Star Pinot Noir and a 2006 Thomas Fogarty red called Skyline - were all decent, but nothing particularly special - at least the two we tried, the Chardonnay and Skyline, were perhaps the least interesting wines we had that night.
I like wine shops and wine bars. Â This one seems decent, but not particularly special. Â Definitely worth a stop at a quieter time.
Uncorked has a deal with La Fondue and Sent Sovi. If you purchase a wine there, corkage is free for the first bottle at the other establishments. After looking at Sent Sovi's wine list of $100 wines, we decided to stop by Uncorked before going to dinner.
The tasting area is tiny, with about 4-6 seats at the bar. The owner was nice and unpretentious. We asked if he could recommend a chilled white wine. He asked us our budget and we said $20. He quickly recommended a $15 wine that was delicious and went perfect with our dinner.
I don't think this is a place I would personally go to hang out and do wine tastings. However, I do recommend coming here to grab a bottle before dining at the above mentioned restaurants.
You can always rely on the staff at Uncorked to recommend the perfect pairings of wine for a meal. They are very knowledgeable and friendly. It's also a great place to taste wines as they have different pairings (red or white) to try daily at a resonable price and generous portions. The wine club has wines that are not easy to find and interesting with tasting notes that are helpful. There is also a discount on their wines if you join the wine club. It's a local hangout so sometimes it can get crowded and the service may not be what some expect but if you wait patiently you won't be disappointed.
Review Source:Every time my husband and I go to La Fondue, we say we're going to check this place out. Well, finally on Saturday I did. I was hanging out with my girlfriend in Saratoga after getting pedicures and we decided to come check it out.
When we arrived, we were the only people there. We were offered two different flights. One was the basic wines for $16 for 5 tastes or $10 for 3. And the other with the Premium for $20 for 3 tastes. Both my friend and I decided on the $10 for 3. I enjoyed all the wines I tasted, however, she had one that was nearly undrinkable.
I liked the guy who was serving wine. He was super friendly and did know quite a bit about wine.
Would I come back? Probably not, but that's because it's a little more expensive than I would like. I can go to my favorite winery and get 7 tastings for free. :)
I like the concept of wine bars, but I don't think anyone has figured out a good price point yet.
This was a nice little respite in the middle of a Saturday afternoon. We did the lower end of the 2 tastings for $16.00. Started with Sauvignon Blanc, Firestone Chardonnay [which is probably the best 'cheap' chard I've ever had. Easy to drink and retailing at under $17, out of Santa Barbara], a local Pinot Noir, the Tom Fogarty Skyline, and Kilnker Brick Old Vine Zin from Lodi. We had crackers and chocolate and a leisurely tasting. The lady pouring was really friendly and delightful. Prices were reasonable all-round. Didn't like anything enough to buy - though the Firestone is one I'll look out for to bring to a friend's, and the Fogarty is a faithful winery.
Review Source:It's funny how diverse the reviews are for this place. Â I've liked almost all of the tastings...even the reds, and I'm not much of a red wine drinker.
I like the guy working behind the counter because he's laid back and quiet. Â He doesn't try to hard sell us any wines like some of the folks in Napa. Â My fiance and I like to go in, taste, and enjoy the company of whoever happens to be there. Â
I also just found out that they sell Cava Rosada. Â Oh, happy day!
Did some wine tasting here a week ago. We tried the 5 wines tasting package. We only like 1 wine, but not enough to buy.
The guy working behind the counter was nice, but he was too laid back and didn't offer us any information about the wine. We sat at a table, and he seemed much more comfortable to be behind the counter. It took forever to get his attention to pour the next round of wine.
Our friends tried the 3 wines tasting package. They also did not like any of the wines. One of my friends was disappointed enough that she suggested we try another wine bar to at least undo the crappiness of this wine bar. Smart girl.
Ok, one extra star for serving Goldfish crackers with the wine.
I had a very positive POV about Uncorked up until last month. Â I have been part of a wine club at Uncorked for over a year. I really enjoyed the wine club that exposed me to many reds I would not have ordinarily tried. Â In March, I realized that I had not been called for my wine shipment pick up in a few months. Â My AMEX had expired and assumed that was it. Â I called AMEX and I had been charged for 3 months of wine without any phone call about it being ready to be picked up. Â When I called Uncorked to inquire, they said "oh you have 6 bottles to pick up. Â We dropped the ball, sorry". Â I guess I have a different perspective on how customers should be treated, but I was really disappointed in the service. Â I dropped out of the wine club and they probably lost a good and loyal customer.
Review Source:My beau and I found this place by chance. Â We had reservations for La Fondue and were about 45 minutes ahead of schedule, so we decided to walk around downtown Saratoga and found this spot. Â Being the wino that I am, we just had to check out the selection.
Right off the bat, good vibes. Â You see, I find that because I am young, people often assume that I am ignorant about wine, when in all honesty I know more than majority of people twice my age. Â The fact that people often assume such is rather annoying and I find them to in fact be the ignorant ones... Â (ok, done with that vent).
Anyways, the gentleman who greeted us was very nice and even offered to do a tasting with us while we had time to spare. Â The wines weren't all that superb, but the variety they had in the shop was quite nice and rather eclectic. Â
A nice place to stop in while perusing the area.
I have lived in Saratoga 7 years and one of the best places to open while I have lived here is Uncorked. They have great themed tasting nights, a great variety of wines each night to taste, and the store has great prices on some of the best wines and products available. You feel welcomed by the staff and their wine knowledge is stellar. And it doesn't matter when you drop in, you can be sure and enjoy good wine and most likely--run into some folks you know. I've been to many area wine stores and this one beats them all. Cool music in the background too. Makes a nice night out prior to having a great Saratogan dinner somewhere nearby.
Review Source:Sort of boring. . . . . I might stop in to buy some wine in a bottle since they do have a big ol' rack but the tasting was totally boring.
$12 for three reds and pretty big pours. The wine guy working was totally boring but very kind. He did give me an extra pour of the Zin and let us eat our cheese that we brought but he talked like the guy in the red eye commercials.
The name has more personality in it with that punctuation then the atmosphere when you get there. I was sort of bummed.
I came to Uncorked because the previous owners were nice, hospitable and lived up to the tag-line "Uncorked - fine wines without attitude".
Yesterday, I experienced nothing but attitude. Â The new partner- we'll call him "Craig" was rude, arrogant and didn't talk to us at all. Â He poured our wine and went to talk to his obnoxious friends - who were loud, boring snobs as well. Â
When he did talk about the wines, he was condescending and did not represent the wineries very well. Â He poured us a CLIF wine and said - "I don't know how someone can make a candy bar and a wine". Â FYI, Craig, CLIF makes energy bars not candy bars. Â We liked the CLIF wine but will definitely buy it somewhere else. Â The CLIF people should pull their wines from UNCORKED. And Patrick should get rid of Greg - oh, I mean, Craig.
I came across uncorked when I was looking for a venue for my engagement party. Â I looked at several wine bars in the area including Joseph George, Unwined, and Vintage. I chose Uncorked for several reasons, and was not disappointed.
On my first trip, I went into Uncorked on a Saturday evening around 6 pm and there were a few people there trying different flights of wine. Â It seemed like a lot of people knew each other, and from watching the crowd and meeting a few people over the hour I was there..there are quite a few regulars that come in. Â This may be intimidating at 1st, but I had the best time! Â I met quite a few people, and I loved the vibe. Â If you are going expecting to have a "Napa" experience I'm not sure that is what you will come away with. Â If you are looking to try some new wines, not be pressured into buying something outrageously expensive, and have a nice time...I highly recommend Uncorked. Â
Patrick is very knowledgeable and will give you wine suggestions at any price point. Â He helped me choose wines for my party and he was an exceptional host, going out of his way to help make my party a complete success! Â
He does get allocations of some hard to find wines, and will place orders for you if they do not carry the wine in the store.
Uncorked is my new favorite spot in the area!
This two starred review was based on my experience tonight. Â There was supposed to be a Wine 101 course being held there for $20 per person. Â I arrive there, the class was cancelled! Â No warnings or early notification to those who had signed up...the person behind the counter said there weren't "enough" people?!?!
This may be a great place to taste and buy your wine but buyer beware if you set aside time to take a class there. Â Definitely call them because they certainly will not try to contact you if the class is cancelled.
I've been here about four times. Â The first time I went, the people working were snooty and rude. Â I vowed never to go back, but I did because a friend of mine liked the place, and we would stop off after or before a little bit of wine tasting in the area. Â I do the tastings, but I never really liked the wine they were having that day. Â I like how they give chocolates and goldfish crackers to have with your wine though.
Review Source:So I decided a trip was in order to check out Saratoga, with only about two hours before an event we decided at the last minute to check out this cute town. Â Where did we end up? Â Or might I say, where did we only go? Â - Uncorked
Walking in the place is clean, charming, vibrant and welcoming as you approach the wine bar for tastings.
We were one of two couples there and apparently it had just opened as the owner seemed a bit out of it and said he was 'still waking up'. Â So my fiance and I browse the lists of flights, labels on the bottles and I end up letting out that I am not a fan of Chardonnays. Â Sweetly the owner says he had meant to open another type of wine and selects something for me to go on the line up.
My fiance and I decide on sharing a flight of five wines, red and whites mixed together. Â The pours were more than reasonable for the15 dollars (I believe), by the time we were done and had even gotten a bonus of a fantastic cab from france, we felt completely that we got what we paid for.
While sitting at the bar, we discussed wines, he told us of the area and was really quite friendly without pushing his way into the conversation. Â Later we met what seemed to be a local to the wine bar and he gave us some great restaurant tips around the area. Â As the bar filled the place only seemed to be more friendly, charming and worth returning, which we will.
What a wonderful find and I whole heartedly recommend.
Oh and the prices of the bottles seemed rather reasonable and the selection quite interesting and well chosen.
I've been here twice. Â The first time was with some friends prior to chocolate doom at La Fondue; the second time was with Joy Monkey Adobo DYK Nymph Troll A. Â We were looking for reasonably priced eats in downtown Saratoga and stopped in at this place just to take a peek.
The guy there (a part owner) invited us to join three other guys already doing a tasting. Â It's $10 for three reasonably sized pours. Â They were nice enough to provide a fourth tasting as a bonus. Â The fourth, a table wine, gave us a nice buzz to help us stumble around Big Basin Way and eventually into Los Gatos. Â All in all, a pretty cool stopping point in downtown Saratoga. Â *hic*
I'd passed by uncorked a few times on trips through downtown saratoga it looked really cute and un-intimidating inside. I finally stopped by to buy some champagne for my upcoming birthday party. I haven't a clue about buying wines or champagne so the woman who was working there (an owner I'm assuming) was so helpful she directed me towards an amazing brut rose she told me she always keeps some on hand at her house for parties. The rose was delicious and surprisingly affordable at $15.
Review Source:I will never wine taste at this venue. Â I agree with the below posts in that it is convenient to stop by while waiting for your table at La Fondue and looks like they had a great wine selection. Â However I disagree with the friendly staff. Â
My SO and I noticed it on the way to check in for our table at La Fondue. Â I always get excited about finding a new spot for wines and tasting local stuff. Â We belong to a wine club in Napa and enjoy formal wine tasting experiences quite often. Â So when the host let us know it would be a few minutes I asked if we had time to check out Uncorked. Â
We walk in and the man behind the tasting counter stops laughing and chatting with the current tasters and turns the sign with information about tasting around. Â I look at him and he says we aren't tasting anymore. Â So I'm a bit put off but I decide to look around anyway. Â I look at a few wines that they are showcasing in a crate and another man says, "oh, that's the look but don't touch stuff." Â ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Â There is absolutely nothing about us that should set off such a reaction. Â I was offended, unwelcome and upset. Â We went back to La Fondue and told them of our experience in hopes that they do not recommend this place for waiting again.
We haven't been able to visit since Mike and Sherri left the place in the capable hands of their partner but I'm sure it's still fabulous. Â Â
Small shop with a great selection of both the familiar/reliable and the unique. Â Something for everyone.
The small wine bar area always had great tastings on Friday nights with one bubble and a flight choice of three or five tastings. Â Haven't had a chance to attend any of their classes but I have heard they are very good.
Great stuff here and they were/are very knowledgeable and helpful. Â Â Not at all snobby. Â I wish them all the best for continued success.
Wow, talk about the anti-Vintage! This place reminds me more of what Vintage was first like before it was assimiliated into haute Santana Row culture. The people at Uncorked are friendly and tasting prices seemed fair (a little high if anything). However very generous pours during tastings more than made up the for the pricing. Somewhat small and esoteric collection of wines for sale, but some real diamonds in the rough hidden in the corners. The owners were very friendly and went out of their way to be social even when they were busy.
Review Source:I really enjoy going to Uncorked for tasting. Â (It's a great way to wait for your table at La Fondue or The Basin, both of which are just a short walk down the street.) Â The staff is exceptionally knowledgable, funny and friendly. Â
They're usually pouring some interesting varietals ranging from local to international labels. Â Often, they have tastings of limited releases and may even have the winemaker behind the counter if it's a local wine.
There aren't many seats at the bar, so if you happen to arrive when there's a group visiting the shop then you might have to squeeze your way in, or wait a few minutes. Â Never fear though, once you make it to the counter, they will take care of you with fast and friendly service.
