Used to be Frankie's...and now Upper Deck.
I'm personally not a fan of this bar. Â I've been a few times and it takes forever to get served a drink, and there always seems to be people there that want to start fights with each other.
We've only gone to meet up with friends there a few times, and it's never a positive experience. Â My husband doesn't even want to go meet friends there anymore when we are visiting on the shoreline and would rather go to Rabbit Hole, Bill's, or The Back Porch (BP only open in summer but awesome spot with live bands and nice water view).
There are so many other bars in the area to choose from with less chaos and better service.
my husband and I enjoy going to the upper deck. I'm glad to see this building finally occupied. Plenty of TVs at the bar throughout the room to watch sports. I love the chicken wings you get at least 15 different flavors to choose from. Also had steamers, prime rib special, clam chowder, and other things on the menu. All were done right. We really enjoyed them and our drinks were also good. The wait staff is always there to greet you at the door and are very friendly. We had no problems getting served.
Review Source:Aesthetically they did wonders to the interior... Staff is pleasant. Â Beer selection and food, very average. Â Good place to catch a game and a beer, nothing special or interesting on the menu that would make you want to travel any distance. Â Wings are ok, Nachos terrible, Burger plain, although chowder is pretty decent. Â This place is convenient, as there is little in the area to compete with a sports bar like this. Â This is too bad; a little Gastro-flair to the menu, a few signature dishes, a little creativity in the kitchen and some pride in the menu would go a long away in the shoreline area. Â Success in this area is determined by the ability to stand out, not by a dependence on seasonal convenience.
Review Source:Good: The food and the energy. For a sports bar, the food is above average especially the wings. If you are looking for a place to watch the game, this place has enough TVs to suit your needs.
Bad: Service is dodgy both at the bar and at the tables. Sometimes it will be perfect and other times it will be horrible.
This place is brand new and pretty awesome. The bar has everything you could possibly need - tons of TVs and lots of tables, servers, pool tables, and dart boards. I got the clam chowder bowl and it was - I have to say - one of the best bowls of NE clam chowder I've ever had. I also got the Mexican burger which was amazing also. The atmosphere of this place is just great. We were there for an early dinner so I didn't get to experience the place at night or the roof top, but I'll definitely be back.
Review Source:First off I'm not totally defending this place but ease up on slamming the staff, it's been open a month. Takes time to work out the kinks.
Anyways a group of us stopped in last night to check out the new "frankies" and were happily shocked to see the change, even though I'm sad to see the nautical dungeon go. Â It's wide open and bright with a dance floor, pool table and skee ball to boot. Big deck with a view upstairs and patio downstairs.
Sitting at the bar I had the Boston burger which has melted cheddar, grilled onions and baked beans. It was cooked perfectly and I should mention they're made "in house". A friend had the turkey sandwich and was happy with it.
All in all it was a good night with friends and a pleasant bartender.
**3.5 stars**
So nice to see this place re-inhabited! Upper Deck is great. I disagree with the previous reviewers... I had a completely different experience. Extremely pleasant, cheerful staff who were very eager to help us, constant refills, and timely service. The portions are ginormous and the food is delicious. Just a different day, different shift of people, I guess.
The parking lot was packed, so clearly they're doing something right. It's a great location, nice live music too, and I think turning it into a sports bar theme will suit it well! Check it out and make your own decision!
We were driving through and stopped here for lunch. The food was wonderful and the portions were large. Our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. She brought me a soda refill before my first one was even finished. Will definitely stop by of ever in that neck of the woods again.
Review Source:We gave this place 4 chances and received terrible service 3 of them. Two times we asked for the manager to resolve the problem because the very young staff just hangs out with each other while you can literally sit an hour before your order comes. When it does, it is likely to be wrong, or overcooked or have just been sitting around under the hot light for an hour. Meals don't come out anywhere near the same time so you will probably not be eating at the same time as your date/friends. Yesterday we were there for my birthday and the bill came up much higher than expected so again, we spoke with a manager about the overpriced incorrect food and drinks and the unsatisfactory service. The waitress who couldn't be found the rest of the meal, suddenly needed to be at our table jumping in with obnoxious comments at my boyfriend to the point where I had to get up and walk out.
I will say if you have a lot of patience and like a little giggle go there because in your hour or so waiting for your order you will see various staff coming out of kitchen with orders and going to each table saying "did you have the so and so?" No organization, bad service, sneakily high priced drinks, and hit or miss food.
