Decent service.  Decent prices.  Above average caesar salad.  Tasty margs.  My friend said chips, salsa, and guacamole were okay.  Tons of people smoke right outside the door (instead of the required distance from it), so you walk through a cloud of smoke to get into the restaurant and to leave.  I doubt we'll ever return.

I've been in a few times because it's close to our office.  past experiences were that food was "ok" and service was friendly.  went yesterday and had the best burger I've ever eaten.  Great taste and cooked properly.  Much better than past burgers I've had there.

I just suggested to co-workers that we go there again today for lunch!

I don't know if you changed chefs, or burgers...whatever you did, GREAT JOB!

(Note...this review is only from the point of view of a sports bar, not a restaurant.)  I was a bit doubtful of finding somewhere good to watch the game when I got to my hotel, as I was not exactly in downtown Denver, but I happened to stumble upon this place and absolutely loved it! Most important, they had quite a few TVs in the bar area...all were tuned to sports...and the sound was on for the most popular game.  They had a nice selection of craft beers, and the bartender was awesome...thanks Dustin!!  In addition, the bar was filled with locals (always a good sign) and they were all friendly and made me feel welcome. Finally, the gold star touch was when they turned on the Chicago Bulls game for me on one of the TVs, even though we are in the midst of college football season...way to make the out-of-towner feel at home!! Thanks for a fabulous time, Urban Sombrero!!!

Great food. Good service.  The Carne Asada is "fan freakin tastic"!   :-)  Only one complaint, the menus were dirty.

In this tilt up fauxberhood designed for the airport commuters and travelers ensconced in charmless cookie cutter mid-rise chain hotels, resides the barely tolerable Urban Sombrero.

Viciously mundane bar food jousts with pitchers of not-so-cheap beer. In the evenings, the waitresses ho-up a touch in sexier attire, trading a ta-ta peek for bigger tip-tips.

The decor is Chili's meets National Restaurant Supply and Best Buy. Its just all so benign.

Let's get one thing strait, its getting 2 stars only because its really the "best" bar in the area, which is like being the best at being a shitty speller.

Now rather than making a list of things the bartender can't make, I will just say, if its not a jack and coke they will have a hard time figuring out how to make it.  I've waited as long as 20 minutes for them to come back and tell me that nobody knows what a tom Collins is. Wow. So keep it simple, they don't know what they are doing.

Beer: its a Mexican joint, but no Bohemia, no carte blanca, no modelo.  Have dos xx on tap, and corona in bottles. Yay....

    Food is ok

    Service can be VERY bad.

My last visit I ordered a burger and a pitcher of beer, finished the pitched, was brought my check but no food.  Yup, they couldn't realize that they need to bring the food if its gonna be on the check.

Urban Sombrero is awesome!  Re: the other reviewers, the waitstaff ARE hott, the margaritas DO have good tequila in them, they have an AWESOME beer selection, the guac IS good, the chips are NOT like cardboard, and the chili relleno I had was great, (but it did have a lot of cheese in it, probably more than necessary).  I went with a big group and had a lot of fun.  Plus, you can't beat the name.  *Note that 5 stars = Wohoo! as good as it gets!  keeping in mind that you are in a hotel district pretty close to the airport :)

Okay okay okay... First off let's get one thing straight, this is Denver COLORADO, not CA, AZ, TX or anywhere else that serves "authentic" Mexican food. Hence the word, urban in the namesake, but if your looking for just flat out good food at good prices with good drinks then this is your spot. I would say this is more mile-high mex food then actual Mexican food but it is still delish! I am working my way through the menu and must say it is the toughest part of my day having to come in here and order something other than the Carne Asada. It is incredible! The burgers I would put against some of the best, (sans cherry cricket and city grill) packed with guac and bacon and anything else your cardiologist wouldn't recommend. The appetizers are legit and cheep and the happy hour margaritas (although I don't drink tequila, take a wild guess as to why) are gigantic and plentiful coming from behind the bar. They have a small draft beer selection but enough bottles to please even the most snobby beer palates like myself. Friendly and attentive waitstaff like Erin and Jordyn along with the fact that the owners are almost always sitting in the corner make sure your taken care of. It's a big space with a distinctively separate bar and dining area but if you get here after 7pm on any night of the week, good luck finding a spot at the bar. Urban is packed 7 days a week and for good reason. If you want "real" mexican food head 2 miles down the road to Real De Minas (see what I did there!) but if your looking for a great meal, in a great environment then this is your spot! It's hard to be disappointed here!

This place is walking distance to my new apt. First thing i thought when i walked was cheesy...next the annoying bartender, then the bad service bartender, then I order the guac and bacon burger which was fine the first two bites. Then came the third when teeth tapped something hard and said wtf? It was a fricken avocado seed. Are you kidding me? The manager made it right by buyng me my next 3 dollar beer. Thanks but no thanks

Stopped here on my trip back to Buffalo from Vegas. Was staying around the corner and it was one of the only places open late with beer and food.

I just sat at the bar. They had a small draft selection but some good microbrew choices. I went with a Milk Stout. The menu here looked good. Lots of choices for Mexican and Burgers too.

I ended up going with the appetizer platter since I couldn't decide. It was actually pretty good though. The wings could have passed for good wings even in Buffalo. (unlike most west coast places) Then it had some good chicken fingers, seasoned fries, huge onion rings, and mini chili relanos. It was a ton of food for just over $10. Greasy pub food, but that's what i wanted.

Holy flies! Flies EVERYWHERE! I get it its summer but I have never seen flies like this in a restaurant. Our waitress was great until she left with our order then was non-existant. They forgot the food for one of the people at our table, and it took forever to get the check. The food was alright, nothing to write home about. I had a taco salad and I felt the ground beef was subpar. The chips and salsa was also some of the worst I have ever had. Uber thin chips barley salted and the salsa was basically liquid.

I dont come here for the food so I cannot comment on it. I come here for the beer and this place is close to my second home. The first time I walked in we were treated so well by the staff...that is why I return. They are excellent and the owner is really nice.

Stopped in for dinner as it is a short walk from my hotel. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed.

The food was not good. Chips and salsa were mediocre, but not horrible. I ordered a combo with a chicken enchilada, a stuffed relleno, and a steak taco. These are pretty standard items that any place should be able to nail with ease. The chicken in the enchilada was bland and didn't really taste like chicken (amazing, I know). The relleno was stuffed with a blob of cheese and all I could taste was the cheese and the fried batter. Again, rather bland and the taste of the pepper was completely absent. The steak taco was dry, chewy (both the steak and the tortilla) and generally short on flavor. Rice was not bad, although a little bland, while the black beans were overall good but a little too salty. Ultimately, I didn't finish a single thing on the plate.

Perhaps some of the stuff here is decent, but I don't plan to give it another chance.

Carnitas was so dry that I could barely swallow it even with a bunch of beer. And it had a funny taste, too.

Went here with the understanding that I wouldn't be eating authentic Mexican cuisine...  With that in mind, the tacos were stuffed full of meat and lots of flavor.  We went during happy hour and there was a nice atmosphere and friendly service.  I would probably go back.

This place isn't as bad as some of the reviews make it seem.

I had one night at a nearby airport hotel so I swung by for a Mexican snack and a drink.

Atmosphere: It's basically like El Torito crossed w/ an American bar. There are big TVs there so you can watch whatever game is on. Can be noisy, but I think it's a good spot if you have a night to kill near the airport.

Chips and salsa: The chips were more like unflavored doritos and less like real tortilla chips. They sucked. The salsa was mediocre too. However, the guac was GREAT! Real, big chunks of avocado and pico de gallo in there.

Enchiladas: covered in mole sauce, which was pretty good. They were average.

So it's a 3-star place for sure. If you need a quick bite to eat, a beer, and want to watch some sports, this is a good spot. If you're looking for something better, well, then i suggest you change neighborhoods - cuz there isn't much better nearby.

As someone who just moved to Denver from San Diego, I have been desperately trying to find a good Mexican food restaurant, this is just another place that shows how bad Denver Mexican food is compared to Southern California. The Salsa came out of a jar, the Enchilada sauce was far from good, and the rice and Beans tasted like they were canned.

By the way, how does anyone like that nasty Green Chili Sauce? Can we get some Carne Asada?

I have to give this place a little better review than the rest of these here.  I was coming home from a flight and need to grab something.  Since it was late, I went to an area near the airport.  The other choices were ...  Pizzeria Uno, Panda Express, Applebees, etc.  You get the drift - a bunch of chain restaurants.  If it wasn't the only decent choice and was located somewhere else, I would go with a 3.

This was at least a local establishment.  I had the tacos and they were good.  But people, what do you expect around an airport.  The reason why I yelp is so that I don't have to go to Olive Garden in every hick city when people say it is the best Italian around.

Geez, next time go to Applebees and check out the antique American decor made in China.

After a later arriving flight, my two choices for dinner in this area after 10pm -- Urban Sombrero or Applebee's.

I believe Urban's kitchen is actually open until 1am. I was glad that someone was still serving food.

Server was friendly. Bar area looked pretty busy with locals. Foodwise -- not the best Mexican food I've had, but it was edible.

I had a small queso dip which seemed like cheese wiz with a spoon of ground beef, and the Chicken Adovada entree. Nothing too crazy there -- I think I liked the refried beans the best on that plate. Didn't really care for the chicken too much -the spice was kinda weird.

Complimentary basket of chips and salsa -- salsa I thought was too watered down.

The prices I thought were very fair. Just water for me, but I did see draft beer on the menu for $2 -- which is pretty good.

Even though the food was okay, I'd still rather eat here than Applebee's.

This place was talked up more than I experienced, but it could be better.

I stopped by here for work to grab a bite to eat with the boss. We both ordered similar burritos, but with different meats. My friends chicken sandwich looked great, but my ground beef burrito (which was supposed to be shredded chicken) had a lot to be desired from it.

I'll give it another try, but was not very impressed.

Never actually tried the food. Was in a nearby hotel for work and had the guac and some beer. For the airport area location, seemed to have a decent bar.  The salsa was ok and the guacamole was average.  The atmosphere in the bar was pretty good and the service and drinks were pretty good too.

The chips and salsa are really good here.  The waiter was cute... and the taco salad was delish! The location is really convenient - within walking distance of the hotel I stay in when I'm in town...
I can't speak to the quality of the margaritas.,...I'm not a margarita fan, but they do make a good Manhattan there. I'll go back for sure.

Great chips and salsa. But, man cannot live on C&S alone. He must have margaritas as well. Too bad the house margarita is so awful that it is undrinkable. It tasted like equal parts corn syrup, frozen Countrytime lemonaid, and some unidentifiable liquor that might have been a distant cousin to tequila. The chili rellenos were hard to find under the mass of shredded, melted cheese. It's always worrisome when a Mexican restaurant opts for lots of cheese rather than decent food. Won't be going back.

Great tortilla chips, hot chicks, cheap beer. What's not to love? I had a burger and it was great. The side of guac was large, fresh and cheap. I'll be back. Oh, also, free Wifi even though they didn't think it was theirs. I tracked it down to their back office. None of the wait staff knew it existed.

The food is hardly mediocre, but the prices were decent! I stopped in here with some girls from work for lunch the other day to try it out.  Apparently it isn't that old of a place so it's not quite well known yet.. or so I've been told.
The food was OK. I wouldn't say it was good, or great, but it was edible.  We all ordered off of the lunch menu, which had enchiladas, taco salads, tacos, etc.  I paid no more than $8 for my enchiladas and iced tea.  I thought that was nice. I don't really go out to lunch that often and when I do, I don't like paying a lot for it.
The atmosphere was nothing to get excited over.. it was nice, nothing over the top. The prices were decent, but man... the enchiladas were.. bland, and really not that great.  I probably will come back, I feel like they do deserve another chance to change my mind.
I think if you are in the area and looking for a cheap lunch, this place will work out for ya, but I don't think it's worth traveling for it.
