Vertex

We had the pleasure of spending 3 nights drinking at the Vertex Bar while staying at the Alex Johnson Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it.

My drink of choice was the Whiskey Smash, M enjoyed having his Mai Tai whilst in South Dakota, my mom liked her Pomegranate Mojitos and my sister liked the Whiskey Smash and Irish Coffees.

The art deco interior is gorgeous and the rooftop view with a firepit will keep you warm in the chilly weather. I couldn't get other how much I enjoyed coming here - felt like a mini version of the Soho House being that you either have to either be a member or a guest to have access.

Staff was great, drinks were strong, appetizers were yummy. A+ in my book !!!!

let the sweeping vista of the least interesting part of rapid city downtown area take your breath away! marvel at the austere simplicity of the hardee's parking lot....thrill to the neon magnificence of the cattlemen's association neon sign...gaze in wonder at ugly rooftops of businesses closed since 5pm...experience the excitement of watching traffic on st. joe moving eastward from the gap!

but wait, it gets better!  the beautiful fiery vortices and glass bead firepits on the outdoor patio ensure you get only the finest natural gas and traffic exhaust smells. combine that with moderately overpriced drinks (which are served nicely, tip of the hat to the bar staff) and a "members only" access that somehow can be thwarted by simply asking for a temporary card, and you got yourself something.

i really do like the art-deco design of the place. no, really. it's got a retro elegance.

I had the veal shank and tiger prawn, which were both phenomenal. I dont remember the last time i ate so much! Service and view were fantastic as well. This was a great choice for dinner.
