One of the few bars that is actually open past midnight. They occasionally have some awesome seasonal beers. I remember the Enjoy By IPA was THE best IPA I've ever had! I was sad that it wasn't there anymore when I went back.

Overall, good beer selection, friendly bartenders, pool tables upstairs. However, I'm not a big fan of the Victoria Pub. The carpet is kinda dark and dirty and it gives it an old, musty feel. If you're looking for a chill, low-key night, Victoria Pub is a good spot.

Great place to go and unwind...good selection of beer, not to mention its ice cold; the food is great, try their Pub Burger or their Cajun Chiken Burger...the only thing i dont like is that i have to leave.

Ordered the veggie burger yesterday around 2 pm and have been sick to my stomach since.  Never going back.

On a brighter note, the waitress was super nice and fast.

I love the food and drinks. I recommend fish and chips. They keep it pretty simple as far as menu items. They do have a couple secret items not on the menu. They have darts for free and pool tables at 75 cents a game.
Sometimes the service is a little inconsistent. I guess it just depends on who you get or what mood they are in. I recommend this Pub as a great place to meet for drinks and socialize with friends. If you get hungry and order food you will not be disappointed. As other reviewers have mentioned, if you sit upstairs you will often be forgotten and service will be a bit sub par.

This place has really gone downhill in the last year or so. The food is still the same, fantastic, but the atmosphere, clientele, service, etc. has taken a turn for the worst.

The dry wings at Victoria Pub are by far the best wings I have ever had in my entire life. I wouldn't just say that either...wings are not all created equal. Leave the sauce out of the equation here and order them DRY with a side of ranch and you'll be happier than you'd ever imagine regarding your wing experience.  I've lived in 5 states and these wings win VS anywhere else EASILY.  Go there & eat them and try and tell me otherwise.  You're welcome.

Alas, day #3 of jury duty finds me in this fairly dark pub, which is to say that it is lit as it should be.

A few nice flat screens are showing some sporting events I have little to no interest in, but that wasn't the case for the other patrons there.

I was afraid of going completely comatose in the court room if I had a heavy lunch or a thoroughly rational libation, so I had neither one.

I opted for the side salad with a balsamic and hazelnut dressing and a bowl of the Green Curry Chicken Soup. The salad was what one might expect from a house salad, not bad and it certainly satisfied my "by golly I'm gonna refuse the temptation of fried delectables at a place that probably does them well" sort of mood.

The soup was good, in fact, it was very good. It wasn't as hot as I would have liked.  It was made in house as the rough chopped carrots and celery would attest and that is a welcome change from the fare available at most spots these days..

The place provided me a nice meal at a reasonable price where I could write a letter to my son who is in boot camp in Georgia at the moment.

I recommend the place. Especially if you can partake in something from the rather well appointed full bar.

When we first moved to Ventura we loved this place! Easy locations, although parking can be an issue, and the hot wings here are the best in town. However, over the years the service has gone downhill. The last few times we have been in it has been painful to sit and wait for refills, and orders. I will say that the prices are decent, and hubs enjoys the Guinness. I for one think their mixed drinks are awful....and you're better off mixing your own at home.

Now if we want to enjoy the food we get it to go. We hardly ever hit up this place on a major drinking holiday, like St. Patty's. Tried that one year, and it was INSANE. Never again.

There's only one reason I decided to put a review on Yelp and give them two stars.  It's because they're using frozen meat for their burgers.  Yes, they dress 'em up nicely, but they just can't cover up the bad taste. And yes, I noticed the extra pepper in the meat to attempt to cover up the frozen taste.  Somebody made a comparison to McDonald's burgers, but honestly, McDonald's burgers are better, because while they're not great, they don't have that signature frozen taste. Everyone at our table hated the burgers.  C'mon guys, you have a the potential to be a great pub. Why not just do it right?  I won't be back for food, that's for sure.

This is a review for my experience with a group of 6 friends on a Sunday at 1PM.

    VICTORIA PUB & GRILL BREAKDOWN:

    THE FOOD:
The food was absolutely terrible.  By terrible, I mean - not only were the orders incorrect (brought us the wrong food, we decided to eat it anyway because we had just finished a huge work out and didn't have breakfast yet), but the potatoes in the country potatoes were partially raw (STILL crunchy) and the steamed zucchini and sauteed onions were RAW too.  The zucchini was not even warmed through and the onions were solid colored (not translucent...so not cooked at all).

Also, my tri tip was rubbery.  It was tough and overcooked.  I ordered it medium rare and it came super well done.  I've had well done tri tip work before from other places that tasted great, but here it was obviously NOT slow cooked.  It was the OPPOSITE of tender.

    THE SERVICE:
It should not take more than 20 minutes to bring us menus and another 20 minutes to take orders.  I'd like to mention that we had to send a person downstairs (we were seated upstairs) to come down and let the waitress know we've been waiting for a long time and were ready to order.  None of us got our waters refilled when they were completely empty AND as I mentioned earlier our orders were made incorrectly.  We also waited for about 30 minutes for our TERRIBLE food.  I've never had to wait so long for awful food!  Lastly, after we handed our waitress our cards, she took an additional 15 minutes to bring back our receipts to sign.  absolutely terrible.

    THE VALUE:
Each entree was between $8-15.  Average.

    WOULD I RETURN?
HECK NO!!! not sober at least.  and definitely NOT FOR THE FOOD.

Great place to visit. Good food. Good service. Billboards, darts, and plenty of tv's to watch all your sports games. If you're a big soccer fan, like myself, you will enjoy the fact that they are basically THEE only bar in Ventura that shows live European soccer games when they are on. If you want a tasty pint and some social fun, the Pub is where it's at!

When I was thinking of a bar to visit on my birthday I didn't really think of Victoria Pub & Grill. It was after seeing it next to Starbucks that I decided that I'd give it a go. I must say that I was glad I did. The decor is a mixture of an Irish pub and a sports bar, which is typical of many pubs in California; however, this place caught my fancy after we were helped by a friendly waitress/bartender. She was personable; she talked with my girlfriend and I as though we were friends for a long time; and she checked on us frequently.

We tried their buffalo wings, which were spicy, and they were actually pretty good. Normally, wings at a pub are subpar, but these were actually worth every penny. After some of our friends came by we ordered one of their pizzas, which was actually pretty disappointing. We ordered a sausage and pepperoni pizza that looked like a bootleg Digiorno Pizza and tasted like it was taken out of the microwave a bit too early. When we got our tab we were surprised to see that it was pretty inexpensive. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here but wished I ordered something other than their pizza.

The u ion jack burger patty was just a regular frozen mcdonalds patty. Not worth 8 bucks. Wont be ordering that again.
With the exception of the waitstaff, it's usually a bunch skanks. Meh.

The Victoria Pub is a pretty good spot to have a beer and watch some football.  They have TV's all over the place so finding your game won't be a problem.  There's a nice darts setup, and a couple pool tables too.  The food's not all that great, but pretty much what I expect from a bar.

We love it here.  We go regularly because we live close by.  As some people have mentioned, you can definitely share the entrees, as there is a LOT of food.  We've never left hungry.  That could also be because we insist on ordering the wings (get them dry... unbelievably amazing).  I usually get the fish and chips, the cottage pie, or the cajun chicken salad.  Also, their potato and cheese soup is unreal.

The servers seem to rock a bit of the 'tude, but it's cool because, every time you look down, your glass seems to have magically been refilled.  They are ON TOP OF IT.

I've been a routine patron of this establishment for a number of years and remain a little surprised by the number of mixed reviews. Yes, service can be a little spotty when busy but it doesn't seriously detract from the overall venue experience. While the decor is a little over the top and contrived, it's a great place to knock back a few drinks, enjoy a decent meal and catch a televised sports event. For a large group, darts and pool tables add diversion. Best bet, give it a try when then offer their appetizer specials during a major sporting event. Failing this opportunity, order the Victoria sandwich which is my personal favorite.

Jury duty was made all better by a beer and fish and chips.

The staff were friendly. The atmosphere was dark except for the huge TVs on the walls. The fish and chips were great. They gave me so much I had to ask for more tartar sauce. I couldn't finish the fries. They were thick cut and very filling. You could easily share the fish and chips.

I'd come back if I have to do jury duty again but I wouldn't go out of my way to find this place.

Victoria Pub and Grill, or "The Pub" as it's commonly known, is my go-to dive bar in Ventura. I first visited it shortly after my 21st birthday, and a scandalous love affair quickly ensued. The source of my addiction: it was walking distance to/from my house. Can anyone say soused?

I literally spent an entire drunken summer at The Pub guzzling glasses of Pyramid, playing copious rounds of darts and pool with friends, flirting with the really hot door guy (Greg), and getting hit on by sailors/Navy contractors that frequent this bar. It was great. And even now, a few years older and wiser, I still love coming back.

What can I say, I'm a huge fan. The Pub is an awesome place to grab a drink and have a good time. The vibe is chill, the crowd is varied, and the drinks are relatively cheap. Plus they let you bring in pizza from Rusty's next door after the kitchen closes. I could spend hours here and never get bored.

I went to Victoria's pub a few weeks ago and was not a fan. The ambiance and spacious two floor layout was a plus. The two pool tables upstairs are also great. However, there were some things that turned me off of Victoria's Pub to the point where I  probably will not return for a second visit.

Service was not great, it was hard to track down the server when we needed something, seemed like priority may have been given to "regulars". But my main complaint came when it was time to pay the bill. We gave a good sum of cash and asked for the rest to be evenly divided onto three credit cards. We explained this several times and our server repeated it to us. When she returned, the entire bill was split between the three cards. I have served for many, many years and understand that this is a common mistake and people make mistakes. Unfortunately, the server came back to the table and argued with us about not giving cash as well. Then worse, she suggested we the CUSTOMERS, were wrong. Even if we WERE wrong, why not say you were going to look for it and talk to your boss about the issue? or do SOMETHING, ANYTHING else. How utterly unprofessional.

Wait - there is more. It took an ENTIRE week to be refunded for the previous faulty charge. Although three days later the actual amount was settled and tip was added. This would not be a problem, and I probably would not have noticed it, if I did not give up a year for community service. Not only was the original amount withheld from me for an entire week, but a $10 fee was charged to my account for the overdraft!

What an embarrassment for Victoria's Pub. If I was management in this situation, I would have been excessively apologizing and offer a gift certificate, free meal, ANYTHING to get the customer (especially a person brand new to California) back into my restaurant. Oh well.

I loved this place even before I ordered my drinks and food.  The place is awesome inside and really gives the feel of an English pub with the dark wood interior and bar set up.

They had some really good deals on beer ($2.50 for an IPA) and the rest of the selection was good too (stouts, dark ales, browns, etc.).  I have had pub food before and it's usually just okay.  The English aren't known for having the best cuisine.  But since the weather was starting to get a little colder I decided to order some comfort food.  I got the cottage pie and despite the fact that it's a really basic dish and pretty easy to prepare, I was pleasantly surprised with how good it was.  My friends also killed their dishes within minutes.

I love the vibe it gives off.  Really homey and comfortable.  Great place to hang out for a bit.

    SHUT UP!

They have trivia...Buzztime Bar Trivia! I am a buzztime trivia addict!
This Pub & Grill will be my new home away from home.

No more driving over to Buffalo Wild Wings in Oxnard ...I have trivia in MY town. No more sobering up by pounding iced teas then feeling wide awake at 2AM. Oh nay nay (wags finger back and forth).

    ________________________________________________________
Happy Hour 4-7 --- $1.00 off draft beer, wine, and cocktails
Drinks Only. Happy Hour Food Specials are when a NFL or Laker game is on.
    ________________________________________________________

    Our Tab (during Happy Hour):

    Coors Light, $2.50 whose counting?
    Guinness, $4.50 x 2
    Bloody Mary, $6.50 x 1 (ouch)
Cheesy Garlic Bread, $3.50ish (we shared)
Victoria's Caesar Salad, $6.95 (we shared)

We will come back as we love trivia.

    I gave it 3 stars. Here's Why:

    Service: Great
Prices: Not so good. Come on... $6.95 for a well Bloody Mary. I used to tend bar. This is just too much. The Bloody Mary had too much Worchestshire. Kudos for our serving asking me if I liked spicy or not.

    Guinness Beer HH: Too much

Victoria's Pub needs a Happy Hour Food menu and better prices on HH drinks.

My husband says this restaurant is worth the drive in spite of this first impression.

The drink and food specials are WAY better at Buffalo Wild Wings in Oxnard. I may not make this place my "home" location.

I will give it a few more chances. Right now, 3 Stars. * * *

I came here this weekend for my Cousin's birthday after stopping at a Japanese restaurant.

They had a pretty good selection of beers, but most of the really good ones were in bottles only. I really wanted a Blacksmith but they didn't have Smithwick's on tap. Damn! So close!

Oh, we almost stole the Jenga from here. We brought it back like good little drunks.

I have been coming here for almost as many years as I've been able to purchase alcohol for myself. The location is great, in that it is not in a heavily trafficked area and thus avoids getting overrun on a daily basis. Parking is a bit tough sometimes, but not bad. The owner, Mike, is/was in a yacht club, so as part of the decor, you will see trophies and flags on the walls that do little to give the impression you are in an actual pub. Everything else- from the woodwork, to the little alcoves downstairs in which you can sit down to eat- takes care of that.

They have a great beer selection and almost any type of liquor you could want. Prices, while they have increased a bit over the years, are quite reasonable. Both the Union Jack and Pub Burgers are fantastic. The Fish 'n' Chips can get a little soggy, but are still an absolute must. The Cottage Pie and Chicken Wellington are also must-tries. The staff is also pretty knowledgeable about the menu and super helpful, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Victoria is a great place just to relax on a Monday evening with a great meal and a cold beer. Everyone there is only too happy to greet you (many times by name) and make you feel right at home. It's just great to have a place, to borrow a phrase, "where everybody knows your name."

The Killer Part of Victoria Pub is the location. It took me about 20 minutes traveling up and down Victoria Avenue (where there's a lot of traffic, and cameras) to find it! That was so annoying. If this pub was downtown or in more pedestrian friendly place around this area, the experience would have been way different (even closer to Ventura College)!

The good thing about this place is that their wings are good, they have a selection of beer. Also the when you include darts and pool tables, it really adds to the feel that it's a local bar.

Do I see myself coming here, well if people are hanging out there and they call me to join them, with pleasure, but I don't see myself going there on my own, way too out of the way, and too many cameras on Victoria, adds to the paranoia that I am going to get a $600 ticket.

However if you live in the area, not a bad spot to hang out in!

I've spent many an inebriated night at the Victoria Pub; in fact, it was the first bar I went to when I turned 21. The bar is spacious enough...a large first floor, a second floor with large tables, booths, and pool, and a bar that runs the entire length of place. They've got quite a few beers on tap (including Guinness!) and an admirable selection of liquors, ranging from gas-station Tequila to top shelf stuff that'll drain your bank account fast. The crowd here is pretty casual and laid back...you'll find just as many people in their 20s as their 40s.

The bar area is almost always packed full, and because of this it can be a bit of a challenge to get the attention of the bartenders. In my many trips to the Pub, I don't think I've ever seen more than two bartenders (and a sprinkling of bar-backs) at any given time. You will most definitely have to elbow your way in for a drink; my advice would be to get a table and order from your waitress, or to order drinks for your whole group at once at the bar. When you finally do receive your drink, you won't be disappointed...they pour heavy and the prices are reasonable.

The food is pretty mediocre, but that's more of a reflection of British cuisine than of the kitchen staff. The pub pizza, fries, and fish and chips are all perfectly acceptable options, but an even better one is to walk next door to Rusty's Pizza (which I believe is open until midnight) and get some decent grub.

Lastly, make sure you have a designated driver, walk, or take a cab when you close down the place for the night...Ventura PD loves hanging around the area, and I know quite a few people who received a free weekend stay in county because they were good to drive. You've been warned!

Victoria Pub is one of my favorite places to have lunch during the work week. The food is tasty, plentiful & the service is great.
I must say that it is tough having to go back to work after being in there though. It has a certain coziness to it.

This place feels like a fight between English soccer hooligans could break out at any moment.

This is a good place to meet up with friends and get rowdy.  There are pool tables and darts galore plus at any given time sports from all over the world are playing on their many TV's.  The atmosphere is loud, loud, loud, the energy high.

While you can go for the standard pub stuff--darts, pool, beer swilling, etc,--the food is very good.  Fish and Chips are highly recommended as is the Beef Wellington (my particular favorite).  Top it off with a Guinness or a Black and Tan and you won't care which team wins or who gets thrown over a table.

I love this place! The food is not gourmet, but way better than your regular pub food. The drinks are strong and they have a decent selection of beers on tap! These things, however, are not why I love the pub. I love the pub, because the atmosphere is fun and happy, the staff is the BEST, and they have real dart boards!

This is a good place to go with kids for weekend lunch, because there's plenty of space for the kids to make noise.

The only things that I don't like about the pub are that there is only one stall for the girls bathroom, and the menu is not super vegetarian friendly, but there are a few options available, and this these things are not bad enough for me not to go. I could never not go to the pub, because the pub is like Cheers for me and I love it!

Really cool place. Went there to watch the San Diego playoff game and the fans were out. Busy but not so where you couldn't get a table.

Half price apps which were already kinda cheap!

The small Pub Pizza has a beer based crust which is sooo pub--love it

Fries were dope--although they brought my blue cheese instead of ranch--the bleu cheese was surprisingly good--but the ranch was better

Cajun Caesar salad was good but drenched in dressing and slightly soggy. The chicken was spicy and bomb--true Cajun style

nice place to watch a game--English theme--they have fish n chips and some other traditional stuff as well. But also American with pizza and Mozzy stix--would go back next time I'm in Ventura!

I did not arrive here early enough to eat, but I did arrive early enough for two black and tan beers, two Scrabble games, a game of pool (I won, of course!) and ordered a pitcher of Blue Moon for the guys.

Two 75cent pool tables, booths, tables, and darts upstairs. Downstairs, the bar, tables, and television.

Diverse bar crowd. But I can definitely see how this place can be anyone's "Cheers."

Eh, typical pub fare.  We came here for dinner and sat upstairs.  TVs everywhere and what seemed like surround sound so perfect for the sports fanatic.  It was a little too loud for my taste - we had hoped that upstairs would be quieter, but it really wasn't.  Our food was alright - fish and chips, pizza, meat pies... but nothing to write home about.  And the service was lacking.  Slow and would disappear for a while (of course whenever we were patiently waiting for sides, etc).  I'm sure it'd be fun for a big sports event or just for some drinks, but not worth it for the food.

Great pub tucked between a Starbucks and a pizza place (I think?). The fish and chips here are awesome. Each cooked to crispy perfection and ready for a slathering of vinegar (or whatever you're into). You have a choice of cod or halibut which is cool. I've had both and been happy. The batter is just right. The portions are large and the prices are low.
Service is friendly, albeit slow. A nice selection of brews will keep you happy while you wait. Stella on tap!
    dark+booze+darts
The dart board and the stack of board games to the left of the fireplace are a nice touch. Nice size pub with seating upstairs too. Overall, a good place to kick back.

We have been fans of the Pub for over 6 years - before AND after the renovations.  While I REALLY enjoy a fine dining experience or a really nice bottle of wine, the Victoria Pub is as good as it will ever get for a local bar.

The food is really good.  No, it's not gourmet - but it's not supposed to be!!  It's a neighborhood pub in Ventura for god's sake!  If you want a pizza, go next door to Rusty's.  If you want sushi, go to Ozeki.  If you want a good fresh reasonably priced sandwich or a really good big salad (house made hazelnut vinaigrette is SO GOOD) then you have found your place.  I am the queen of making my food order a special order with all kinds of little extra requests (more this, take away that, can you change the bun??)  but the staff at the pub never seems to mind and always produces.  [If I'm paying, I want what I want, right?]

Once you go a few times, everyone knows your face - and soon your name too.  The staff tries its hardest to make an environment where everyone can relax and burn off some steam while still being clean and safe.  If you ever need something or have a concern they jump on it to make it right!!

The only negative thing about the Pub I can say is that sometimes I can't get a seat at the bar because so many people love going there!  But I can always get a good stiff drink, a yummy sandwich, and a reasonable tab at the Pub.

Very cool Pub.  It was on a Wednesday night and it was hardly crowded.  I saw a guy perched on a stool outside of the pub and assumed he was just sitting there.  He was big, burly guy and when I stepped up to the entrance, he made a half  "square" sign with thumb and forefinger (more like the letter C in my opinion), signifying the need to see ID.

While my friend was lagging, I walked in and checked out the bottom floor (wood, wood, and more wood - walls, stairs, chairs, booths...etc) - there was a corner off to the side with the usual dart board.  Some of the walls had shelves of fake books.

The second floor had the usual pool tables.  It costs .75 cents to use either pool tables.

While waiting for my continuously lagging friend, I ordered a Vodka, Cran - very strong.  Nice!  And for only $4.50  Cool!  There were about 3 or 4 TV's just above the Bar alone.  The largest was a flat screen showing Lakers losing to Spurs by 1 point.  Boohoo!!

Man, my friend was supremely late and I must have looked like I needed to get picked up because men were just giving me looks as they kept passing my table.  I kept my head lowered, pretending to be busy checking out my CrackBerry.  I figured that works for the vagrants while I'm stopped at a red light.

Big Door Man comes up to me and says, "Good news and bad news...want the bad news first?"

Me: "Do I have a choice?  Sure.  Bad news first."

BDM: "There are two guys sitting over there that want you to sit with them and the good news is that they want to buy you a drink while you're sitting with them."

I glance back - sure enough they beckon to me from their table.

Me: *sigh* "Well, I'm waiting for a friend but if she doesn't come within the next 15 mins, I'll toddle over there."

After 2 minutes of finger drumming on the table, I went to their table.  They were very nice guys - Tim and Tom.  We all talked about restaurants in the Oxnard area.  I had a great time talking to them.  They weren't creepy or pushy.  They simply said they saw me sitting by myself and wondered if I wanted to just chat for a bit until my friend showed up.  Nice peeps!

So winding down, great place! Strong drinks, friendly peeps, awesome pub feel, and yes...my friend FINALLY got there an hour and 20 mins later.  All was well in Karen's drinking world!

It's no fun going to a pub when you're pregnant.

But the first time I went here with my buddy T. and my hubby, I was NOT yet pregnant, so I got to enjoy this place proper.

I've been to Ireland and London 3 times each, so I knows me some authentic pub.  Excellent Guinness pour.  My husband had four.  T. loves the black and tan.  As for food, it's pub grub with a surprising (and delightful) number of vegetarian options.  My husband likes the curry pasta (no chicken) and I dig the veggie burger (nothing special, just one of those Gardenburgers from the freezer).  I'm easy to please in the veggie burger department, as long as it comes with a side of fries.

My only complaint is I asked for avocado with my burger and didn't get it.  32 weeks from now: Baby's first Guinness via my breastmilk.  It's a date.

This is my favorite bar in ventura. Maybe because it's near my home so I don't have to worry about going downtown and avoid a lot of newly 21 year olds. The food is really good! I am partial to the Victorian Sandwich, the Union jack burger[ a lot of meat!] and the half sandwich and soup combo.
The drinks are reasonably priced and they have comfy booths in corners so you can avoid the crowds and enjoy the company you came with!

Deb & I had had lunch today at this pub. The food was really a disappointment, but the Guinness was of the highest caliber. I had the bangers & mash while Deb had the tri-tip beef wellington. We felt that both were terribly overcooked. Fortunately, Ozeki Sushi is like 50 yards away, so we headed over there to have our second lunch of the day on sushi, beers, & sake. =]

Before setting foot in this place, I was thinking I'd be going to some dive-y number where the bar and tables have that all too familiar sticky feeling, but you go because one can sit and watch the game on the telly with a few other regulars.

The place is not dive-y at all, and the tables aren't sticky; in fact, the large, well decorated place is a pretty cool spot to hang out and watch the game on one of several flat screen tellies about the two story pub. The bar's downstairs, two pool tables and booths upstairs.

People are friendly and I for one would consider being labeled a townie if I grew up here if being a townie meant I'd be a regular at this place. After all, how can one hate on a place you can refer to as "The Pub" and be accurate in its name? There's no hating here.

    **UPDATE**

I've finally eaten a meal or two at this place, and I have to say: The food is good. As was recommended to me, try the Victoria sandwich on sourdough, and after much hype, I also had to try their hot wings...without the hot sauce. I love me my hot wings, and yes, I do love the ones they serve here.
