I've eaten in other German restaurants in what was supposed to be "German" towns. Villa Europa beats them all. I was surprised not to be greeted immediately at the front counter (Robert Irvine would freak!), but we were directed to a neat booth in a cozy dining area and immediately met our waiter who promised to take "excellent care" of us. He did! He coached us through our selections, suggesting more than I knew I could eat, and delivered our drinks and our appetizer pronto. He gave excellent, spot-on descriptions of everything, promising satisfaction of our palates, and he was so right. Then we topped it off with the most incredible Black Forest Cake. Then we met one of the owners and enjoyed an excellent visit--who suggested two other family-owned restaurants nearby. We'll be back!

Sustain: Cozy interior, jaegerschnitzel on deck, revolving soup menu (including my favorite, split pea soup!), draft warsteiner served in das boot, prompt and efficient service
Improve: Sketchy exterior, revolving soup menu (I want my split pea soup, dammit!), can a brother get some rumsteak/schweinhaxe?
It's located right off the exit and it's not hard to find. I'm going to give this place 5 stars. It was my first time eating at a German restaurant but the food impressed me. Â I ordered the Schnitzel with side potatoes. Once you squeeze that slice of lemon on to the Schnitzel, it brings out that terrific flavor. Btw, our waitress was hilarious and left me with great memories.
Review Source:In an area that in my opinion is questionable I found this diamond. Â A German restaurant with a sold menu. Â I Â order Jager Schnitzel w/ Spatzel it also came with a very generous portion of homemade bread. I was very happy with my whole meal. Â They had outdoor seating which I liked and I normally could care less about such a things and wouldn't even mention it but dining al fresco took me back to my time in Europe and the food didn't disappoint either. Â Now I am not saying the food can stand on the same platform as the foods prepared in Germany but for Georgia I was really impressed. Â Staff was friendly and prices were more than reasonable especially when you factor in the portion size.
Review Source:We were passing through Augusta on our way from Atlanta to Charleston, SC, and were happy to discover that we could have German food in the South! Coming from New York and Indiana years ago, I guess we just took it for granted that German restaurants were all over the country. Not so in the rural area where we live.
Hubby and I both had the specials that day. I had a delicious pork  Goulash with Spaetzle, my husband had a curried pork Shashlik that was wonderful, and he loved their potato salad. My son had a pork schnitzel sandwich on rye. He said the taste was great, but the rye was a little on the dry side.
We will definitely go back for more. The menu has a pageful of dishes we would like to try.
Our waitress was friendly, and nice enough to repeat the specials for us again, as there were several that sounded good and we didn't want to miss any.
Took the wife here to enjoy a good meal. Overall, we were satisfied.
The only beer I really like to drink is a Hefe Weisse - and I like Franziskaner. Â They had the dark Franziskaner on draft - I would have liked the light one, so I was relegated to get Pauliner (which was OK).
My wife ordered Rahmschnitzel, spaetzle and red cabbage, with the mixed German salad. Â The salad was good and she raved about the Rahmschnitzel. Â The Spaetzle was pretty ordinary and the red cabbage just wasn't to her liking.
I asked if they could make me a Schnitzel Hawaii - which is a Schnitzel with cheese, pineapple slices and usually some cranberry sauce in the pineapple holes. Â They were able to come through with it (minus the cranberry). Â It was real good and I recommended that they add it to their menu.
All in all, we were pleased. Â I liked that they made something off the menu for me. Â There is a German restaurant closer to our house which we will probably frequent more than Villa Europa, but I will definitely return.
The best German food you will ever have, the bavarian fritters are out of this world as an appetizer, the Saurbraten, Cordon Bleu, or the Rahmschnitzel for dinner are my favorites, plus the dumpings, german potato salad, and the German salad are great too. For dessert the Prince Regent Torte is to die for!! I would recommend this to anyone looking for Authentic German Food! Plus the atmosphere is great, especially for big groups or partie's! :)
Review Source:Great food
Good beer choices. Why has it been 10 years since I was last here. I cant believe I am the first to check in here or for that matter the first to review this perenial Augusta favorite. Â I have been coming her since I was a child. Â I moved away and was glad to see it was still here. Â Yes you have to slum it to the southside of town, in a less than perfect neighborhood, but let me assure you that it is worth it. Â
This is probably the closest thing Augusta has to a great family run five star restuarant. the schnietzels are outstanding and the beer selection very good. Â
I would hightly recommend this place to any of you folks who rarely travel south of the Gordon Hwy.
Delicious food; huge portions! They also serve Italian for those jacktard types who go to a German restaurant expectting not to eat German food. That must happen pretty frequently because their Italian is surprisingly good. Worth the trip, but split your entree unless you have a huge appetite.
