We had heard some good things about the new management and decided to try this out. Â The food was decidedly greasier than we would have liked to have had. Â Although the service was very good. Â The pit meat sounded good, but I think it would have been better to get it earlier in the evening.
Review Source:The A-ville Inn has always been a local legend. Â The food has always been good but the knock against the place was the clientele and the bar could sometimes be a little rough. Â It has quickly lost this reputation with the new ownership. Â
The bar/restaurant changed hands and re-opened as the New A-Ville Inn on August 28, 2006. Â I went for the first time today and I was impressed. Â The decor has been updated and painted. Â The wall is adorned with photographs from a local artist. Â There is a group of locals that still hangs out at the bar but that adds to the charm. Â The menu consists mostly of sandwiches but there are dinner entrees as well. Â The special today was an 8 oz New York Strip w/sides for $8.25! Â That's pretty cheap.
I had heard good things about the Pit Beef and Pit Ham so I decided to try a Pit Beef platter.  I saw them carrying the brisket from the back into the kitchen and it was HUGE!  The platter consisted of a generous portion of pit beef on a sesame seeded bun, a side of cole slaw, and a nice portion of battered fries.  All of this for $7.25.  The Pit Beef was  absolutely O-U-T-S-T-A-N-D-I-N-G!!  It was a nice medium rare temperature, thinly sliced, piled high, and accented with just a small splash of BBQ sauce.  It had a great smoky flavor and was as tender as velvet.  I loved it.
I brought my parents with me just because, well, they're my parents. Â My dad had the soup/cheeseburger special and he said it was great. Â My mom had a cup of cream of crab soup and a chicken quesadilla. Â Judging by the mess on her arms and around her plate, she loved it. Â When I asked her if it was good, she answered me with her mouth stuffed so I'm not sure if she liked it. Â I believe she loved it since that's all she talked about on the way home.
Here's the kicker! Â Please read this slowly! Â THEY HAD CHIMAY TRIPLE ON TAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Â CHIMAY TRIPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Â ON TAP!!!!!!!!!!! Â You never expect that to happen in the boonies.
I asked the waitress to put one of the local's beers on our tab since I knew him. Â She obliged.
So the tab consisted of a Pit Beef sandwich, cole slaw, 2 orders fries, 1 pint of Yingling Lager, 1 8oz glass of Chimay Triple, 1 cheeseburger, 1 bowl of cream of crab, 1 cup of cream of crab, a bottle of Miller Lite, and a chicken quesadilla. Â The total w/o tip was $30.25!!! Â You have got to be kidding me. Â I will definitely be going back and this time I might have the Pit Ham. Â They say it is braised in their own fruit sauce. Â Wow.
On another note, I've had offerings from here at events (they offer catering services too). Â Everything I've had thus far has been great.
One negative, they do not accept plastic but have an ATM on premise if you are short on cash.
