Vino Bello, which apparently is Italian for beautiful wine and that is what this little wine bar offers. Â A place where believe it or not "everybody knows your name". Â This charming location is fun to stop by just after work or to meet a friend for a tasting. Â
They have a wide variety of wines to choose from and if you are looking for a little education, they sponsor tastings and events too! Â They also have a wide selection of beers from around the world.
I went to a private function there and felt like I was at a neighbor's house, a warm inviting atmosphere & friendly service.
This is great stop to go if you are in the mood to socialize and offer live music too! Â A definite favorite among the locals.
As you might be able to tell by my reviews, I only review places I like, and I like Vino Bello. On my very first visit, I met many people who frequent the bar and all seem to be very nice. The owner was probably the nicest of all of the people I met. They seen to taste a variety of wines from week to week, and I can usually find at least one I really enjoy. They do a lot of special stuff from music to holiday stuff, so go to the site to see what's happening.
Review Source:Another stop on the Ladies Night Out bar crawl. Â Never disappointed by Vino Bello, wonderful servers and a fun food menu to compliment the ever lasting wine selections they have. Â YOu can never go wrong with their live music by the Po'Boys. Â Great band and they cover some fantastic songs that get you happy. Â 5 stars from me on this fab location with knowledgeable employees that are happy to help answer any questions you may have!
Review Source:Great place to grab a glass of wine with friends. The space is warm, friendly and casual with pub-height two- and four-top tables, bar seating, and soft couch and chair seating. In the summertime, there's also sidewalk cafe seating out front, which gets good sunlight until early evening.
Overall Michele, the owner, specializes in wines that will pair well with foods. She offers a full menu of wines by the glass, so it's a great place to try something you've never had before and then pick up a bottle when you leave.
On Saturday nights, there is always a wine tasting with live music, and it's nice that the music is early (usuallly around 5 to 8 p.m.). It's a great capper to a relaxing Saturday to stop by for a tasting and some music before going out to dinner in the neighborhood.
Other events to watch out for are the special wine tastings and classes, often with local Italian wine expert Vito Reverdito. And for beer lovers, there are always two local craft beers on tap with many more available by the bottle.
*** UPDATE***
Because the owner contacted me, only to basically disagree politely, and considering it really isn't the worst place I added a star. However my account of the the experiences is 100% accurate and did happen regardless of what I was told is the norm. We have receipts to prove it, but not interested in taking that sort of issue up on a website where I am free to express my honest view point and experience of local businesses.
I did call around after being surprised by they reply. It IS apparently an option and normal to charge a corking fee for bottles purchased at a similar establishments. My question is why? I am not interested in what the norm is, and challenge any establishment to stand out and be different and welcoming by doing away with fee's that only nickel and dime the consumer. I want a great product at a fair price without fees. Â
Vino Bello is a place I suggest you try if your in the neighborhood and come up with your own opinion.
......
Ok I want to like this place for what it is... a trendy wine and small plate bar but they couldn't make you feel less welcome.
They have a really large selection of wines for sale from just about everywhere and the food options are good enough but nothing to write home about.
Recently, wanting to go somewhere different, after giving them a couple of shots in the past that were also lack luster, we went here with a group of four. Normally thats a pretty small request but plan on feeling packed in like a sardine. If they have entertainment you might have to pay a cover which I considered sorta rude after the $100 + we spent on bottles of wine. But those are the biggest kicker... they have a corking fee. Yep, I'm not talking we brought our own bottle and paid a fee like every normal place but if you purchase a bottle to share with the table it's and additional $10 on top of their already listed prices.
* Simply Horrible! Â Last night my mom and I went and used our Groupon. Â First off, the ambiance leaves something to be desired. Â I thought I was walking into a store rather than a wine bar. Â The lighting was way too bright.
At first glance the menu looked very inviting...a good wine selection and some tasty nibbles. Â I guess I should have paid more attention to the nibbles description. Â We ordered the cheese flight and the artichoke/spinach dip. Â The cheese "flight" came out first. Â After seeing the "flight" we assumed that the next flight would be coming out soon. Â The cheese tray consisted of four miniature slices of cheese. Â One slice would not cover half of the 5 crackers that were provided. Â
Before the artichoke dip came out we joked that it would be miniature as well...boy were we right on...think of a soy sauce dish at a sushi restaurant. Â
The wine pours were half of what you typically get when dining out...it was more of a tasting at $8 per glass. Â
This is Burien people (a blue collar neighborhood)
Good luck staying in business.
Michele has created a warm, inviting, entertaining atmosphere to enjoy a wonderful variety of wine tastings, a nice selection of wines and a great way of providing information about wines. Â Every bottle I have purchased in the past 4 years has been a bottle I have enjoyed, she really knows how to recommend just the right taste of wine!
Michele is very community oriented and uses a variety of methods to communicate events to her customers and potential customers.
I like wine bars with Happy Hours.
I like owners that are cool and very approachable.
I like it they employ the latest online social networking.
I like it that they play live music on Saturdays.
I like it when I get emails, tweets, or facebook updates telling me about some good wine up for grabs at bargain prices.
A great establishment!
I'm more impressed by Vino Bello each time I go. I always visit on Saturdays for the tasting, which changes every week. You usually get to try 5 or 6 different wines for about $10 or so. The owner has always served me and she is super nice and knows her stuff. She tell something about each wine she brings out for you to taste and makes pleasant conversation (I had no idea South Africa had been making wine as long as France).
Besides the tastings, my favorite thing about Vino Bello is the price and selection of the bottled wines. I always find something good in their clearance box that's under $10, and something in the racks for $15 or under. I end up buying 3 or 4 bottles every time.
They don't have a huge food selection yet (antipasti and a cheese tray) so I'd recommend walking down to Elliott Bay Brewery to grab a meal before you throw down a few glasses here.
I'm not from Burien, Washington but was recently in the Seattle area. Â Burien reminds me alot of many cities in the East Bay that are striving to clean up their downtown and put some classier storefronts and fill the vacancies. Â
Unfortunately, this place is in an area of town where they really need to channel their efforts. Both storefronts next to this place are vacant. Being from the Bay Area where there alot of nice wine stores, Honestly I wasn't expecting much. When I stepped inside it was a plesant surprise. My goal was to get some great Columbia Valley area wine.
The store employee was very knowledgeable and ulimately led me to a red entitled Lady in Red. It was a blend of four different grapes and was incredible. Â This store also boasted a sit bar with stools for tastings and just relaxing and having an indvidual glass of wine. If I lived in the area it would probably be a weekly destination for me. Since this isn't the case it will have to wait until next time I'm in the area.
I've been here once for a tasting that was advertised on one of the local wine web sites. This wasn't the first tasting I'd seen advertised for Vino Bello, but this one definitely caught my attention because it was all about pairing Washington wines with meat from B&E meats, a local butcher just up the street from here.
They had a person from B&E manning the grill, while we tasted the great wine picks by Vino Bello to go with the B&E tri tip and chicken.
This is exactly why I like local businesses, because they utilize the other businesses that are in the surrounding area, which is exactly what Burien needs more of. Vino Bello is off to a great start and I can't wait to see what other tasting/pairings that VB has in store for us.
Great wine bar and wine shop. Nothing else like it in the Burien area. Killer selection of wine by the glass or by the bottle. Comfortable, kick back attitude yet classy and even a bit sophisticated in a hip sort of way. Saturday tasting events are great and usually feature live music. Nice selection of bottled beer too.
