I really enjoyed my experience here. Â The wine selection was quite varied and the food menu had many excellent choices. Â I had the quattro formagio pizza and cheese plate. Â I would recommend this place. Â The only downside was the seating arrangements. Â You sat on comfy chairs in a small room with other people and it could get quite loud. Â My fiance has hearing issues and this would be quite difficult for him.
Review Source:Wanted to update my original review after a recent visit. Vino Villa now has an amazing patio that is great for summer nights. They have ample seating and the ambiance is great - with the lights and decor. We opted to swing by after dinner to grab dessert and a glass of wine and were absolutely thrilled with the cheesecake options (I enjoyed the carmel chocolate) and the servers recommended a great wine to go with our dessert.
Review Source:I wanted to surprise my wife with something new, so after reading the reviews on Yelp, Vino Villa sounded like an interesting place to start our Saturday evening. I should have known, with her being the professional shopper that she is, she had already stopped by here several weeks ago to look at the wine selection on the first floor.
What she didn't realize about the place on her visit, was the second floor rooms for kicking back with a glass of wine (or beer) and things to munch on. We were greeted by our very courtious and friendly server who escorted us upstairs. After showing us the several rooms for relaxing in, we decided upon the Red Room. Sofa's and comfy chairs are in all the rooms, with a good selection a music playing on the two corner speakers. The setting is very pleasant and relaxing. This is a great idea and couldn't be happier that it's down on the Southside in Greenwood.
She ordered the Decoy sauvignon blanc and I had the Tangley Oaks chardonnay. Here are my only two complaints. When we asked our server if the chardonnay was oak or stainless steel fermented, he had no idea. WIth just 24 or so wines available by the glass, I would expect the staff to be more knowledgable about the varietals they are serving. My second complaint...standard size wine glasses are brought to you empty and the bottle it is to be poured from is brought by the server (this part I liked very much as it was nice to be able to read the label). Here's the part I didn't like...after pouring the wine, my glass was at most, half full. At $7.00 a pop, I'm thinking they should be a little more generous with the libation. We complemented our wine with a brie cheese and maple walnut bread appetizer. It was delicious!
I very much recommend checking this place out for a relaxing atmosphere with good wine, munchies and music. The retail area on the first floor has some interesting wines and cheeses that's sure to please many a palate!
I love this place.
We went here to buy a bottle of wine and returned a few hours later with company to eat some cheese and hummus and drink more wine.
The house is awesome. Â It is a gorgeous old building and there is no better setting on the south side to enjoy a bottle of wine and some tapas.
The retail store on the ground floor features some pretty decent bottles of wine. You can also buy any of the bottles and enjoy them upstairs in the lounge or bar for an extra $7.50. Even Rickey Henderson couldn't pull off that steal. You can actually buy a good bottle of wine for $15, pay the extra $7.50, and enjoy it in the house. The same bottle of wine most restaurants would sell for $60.
The third floor bar seems to be the perfect setting for a private event and you can reserve the entire space for free. Say what?
As a lover of Indy, I am actually jealous that this place is in Greenwood. It puts many Indianapolis wine bars to shame!
A fine wine & gourmet cheese retail store AND bistro AND wine bar all cozied-up inside a beautiful old historic home in downtown Greenwood.
The husband and I paid a visit here one afternoon and were completely blown away. To begin with, the house is really lovely. The first floor is their retail area where you can purchase from a wide variety of wines, cheeses, smoke meats and many other items.
The second floor is their bistro area with several rooms that have been divided-up into separate areas where you can relax on sofas and soft chairs or at quaint tables with chairs and order wine by the glass and small plates of food. Or you can pick-out a bottle from the 1st floor then pay a corking fee to drink it there. They also have a few local beers, Upland and Oaken Barrel, available in bottles.
We chose to order wine by the glass so we could sample different ones. And we ordered 2 small plates of food to share. The food was excellent, we had smoked duck breast (from Smoking Goose meatery) and some really delicious cheeses. The wines that we had were not only great but the pours themselves were prettly hefty.
The third floor is a large room, very tastefully decorated, with a really cool wine bar and lots of tables scattered throughout. This room didn't open until 5pm the day we went so we just peeked-in before leaving.
One other thing I must mention is the prices. We were really pleased with the fair & reasonable pricing for all of the wine & food items. And, the "small" plate was anything but small - the portions were more than enough for two people.
This place really excites me and I hope it does well. There were a lot of customers there the day we went so it's looking good. Which makes me very happy.
This place is great! My husband and I bought their discount coupon on SweetJack and decided to grab a bottle and some grub from there. We first went downstairs and looked at all of their yummy cheese and wine, then we headed upstairs and got some small plates. We had their three meat plate, cheese plate and a couple glasses of wine. The food was so good and the plates were big enough to feed at least four people. Their cheese plate comes with grapes with cilantro on them, who would have thought it would be so good. We end up buying a bottle of wine, olives and a gift card for my parents for Christmas. I was in hog heaven!!
I am so happy this place opened on the Southside. I plan on telling everyone to come here and give them some business.
This is the best addition to the area in a long time- A great wine selection of non- grocery store wines is located downstairs. Â The upstairs has rooms with small plates of food and wines by the glass. Â You can also buy any bottle from downstairs and enjoy it upstairs- Â great, amazing, and the owners and extremely helpful! Check it out
