a rip off palace. Â I asked the bartender if there were any beer specials. Â
She said no and then recommended an Allagash White. Â I had two beers and when the bill came it was $16. Â Eight bucks a beer...after I asked if there were any specials!!!! Â
This is like some Saigon dive bar where the bar girls order champagne and you end up getting rolled. Â
Avoid at all costs.
I won't be able to review the food here, because...well...I've never actually had the food here.
The only thing I ever get here are drinks!
For your Friday night outing, this place is a fantastic hang-out, neighborhood bar, "where everybody knows your name" type of place.
The set up is very simple: bar to your left, booths to your right. Â I've only ever sat in one of the booths, when I wasn't able to stand up straight anymore :)
The bartenders here are great! Brad always manages to keep a great atmosphere in the bar!
Overall, I think this is more of a bar that happens to serve food. Â You have to be 21 to get in, so yes you can smoke indoors.
I guess I can see the appeal of this place if you live nearby. Â It seems as if it would be a decent enough neighborhood bar given the lack of better options in the area. Â But as someone just stopping by to grab some lunch because I was in the area, I can't say that I am a fan.
I walked in and seated myself at the bar. Â The first thing I noticed was the overpowering smell of cigarette smoke. Â Why does any restaurant still allow indoor smoking? Â Ridiculous. Â The place is small and pretty dark, but not overly so. Â
The waitress came over and took my drink order relatively quickly. Â She wasn't overly friendly (actually she barely said anything at all), but provided sufficient service. Â It seemed as if she was really the only one working on this particular day, so kudos to her for providing prompt service.
I ordered the cajun burger, but could barely detect any of the cajun seasoning. Â The reason that I ordered this was because the menu advertised that it came with "fried onions". Â When I hear "fried onions", my brain immediately thinks of those French's crispy things that everyone's grandmother puts on top of green bean casserole. Â What came on my burger was not "fried onions". Â I'd more accurately classify them as "barely sauteed onions". Â Disappointing. Â I ordered the sweet potato fries as my side and they were probably the best part of the meal. Â They had the perfect amount of sweetness and were finished with course salt - just the way I like them.
If I were in the area again, this definitely wouldn't be my first choice.
