I've sort of made Wahoo's my traditional dinner when I come to Treasure Island for the kite festival. This is probably my fourth time in, and boy did they change things up.

The entire place seems to have been re-done. Now there is a band area with individual tables spread out throughout the dining area. The bar is in the same location.

The food seems to have changed up as well (actually, I don't remember the menu from a year ago) I ordered the Bourbon Crusted Salmon with rice.

This was REALLY good. I've been on a salmon kick lately, and the Bourbon sweetness really made this salmon stand out.

Although there were changes to the layout, the food and atmosphere is still the same, and will continue to be my traditional dinner stop when I'm in Treasure Island.

Wahoo's has been through several "identity crisis" situations over the last few years, but they're really trying hard to work the kinks out.

I decided to pop in last evening and check out Happy Hour.  It was not busy, there were a few people at the bar, but it did pick up around 6.  It's not the typical beach bar atmosphere, which I really dig.  The crowd is usually fun and lively and the bartenders, Chris and Misty, are lots of fun.  Chris was on duty last night. He's a super bartender with tons of experience.  I never had to ask for a new drink, he just seems to know when you're ready!  He really does pay close attention to everyone.

They have $1.50 domestic beer and 50cent wings on Mondays, so that was cool!  These wings were enormous and really good.  They're dredged and fried, but not too greasy.  I saw lots of them being ordered, so I got a few, too, and will def get them again.  Waaay better than Hooters.

There is a special happy hour 1/2 off appetizer menu daily til 6pm. Mozzarella sticks are light and yummy, enough to easily share. The Fried Mushrooms, Buffalo Chicken strips, Loaded Nachos and Fried Jalepenos are just as large a portion.  I've tried them all and they are all delicious!  Linda, my fav server, has been here for a couple years now and she is just a doll!  The service is ALWAYS friendly, fast and they will bend over backwards to do whatever they can to make your meal perfect.  The menu is extensive and everything is really delicious and portions are substantial.

Monday nights are reserved for football right now, so there is no live music or karoke.  They also have a Dueling Piano show that I've never seen, but have been told its entertaining.

I really like Wahoo's on the Island and I'm really happy to see the new owners putting so much effort into making this place fun and the food yummy.  It's got a great crowd, excellent location, and lots of free parking, so if you're on TI, stop in and see what you think!

My wife and I stopped in here for dinner while on vacation. First off, they weren't open for lunch on the day(s) we tried to go there, so we decided to try again for dinner.

The first impression when walking in was, "Wow, cool." The place just has a really cool atmosphere to it--a large bar in the middle of the room with seating on either side. It had a nice, classy feel to it. A woman told us to have a seat wherever we'd like so we took a table and our sever came over almost immediately. He was incredibly friendly and helpful, explaining their food and drink specials for the evening. I noticed they had their own Wahoo Red Ale, which I ordered. It was decent--nothing really unique but it was good. For dinner, I ordered the Surf N' Turf which was a special that night (an 8 ounce ribeye and grilled shrimp skewer), and my wife ordered the chicken primavera. Our food came out very quickly (although they weren't very busy that night), and everything looked good except that my Surf N' Turf came without the Surf (they forgot the shrimp). I flagged down our server and he was incredibly apologetic and went right into the kitchen. About 10 minutes later he brought my shrimp out. Not a big deal to me, but I'm sure something like that would bother a lot of people. My food was excellent and my wife really liked hers.

My only "complaint" about the place, and it's somewhat through a fault of our own, is that it was karaoke night. There was probably a sign on the door that we missed when going in that would have warned us. After 5 minutes into our meal they began karaoke and it was so loud that we could barely have a conversation. It took place at the end of the dining room on a small stage...coincidentally, right next to where we decided to sit. Thankfully, all of the people we heard sing were actually quite good, so it wasn't necessarily a bad experience, just one we weren't expecting.

Overall we both really liked this place and would definitely check it out again if we are in the area!
