Love this place! Volleyball courts, beer, great food! Great selection of beer on tap and they even serve my favorite vodka! I can't say enough good about this bar. Definitely worth checking out!

Wear some clothes to get dirty in the sand!!

My partner and I eat there frequently.  We especially enjoy breakfasts on weekends.  We enjoy the food.    Conversation with staff just as enjoyable.  Try Hummus starter, Reuben, Stanky burger and a good Bloody Mary.    In addition I like the Friday tacos.  Try their huevos  rancheros!   Owners are very friendly.  Bar staff super. Over the last mo nth or so floor service has improved.  Try Tuesday steak nights!  We went last Tuesday.  I work and travel all over world.  Experience food in many lands.  For a fun evening with good food and service and wanting to support local biz then try Crowbar.  We heartily recommend it.  By the way a very eclectic crowd...old, young, professionals, bikers, gay or straight.  Highly recommend.

The wife and I decided to try the open faced turkey sandwich based upon the waitresses suggestion. We split it and it was HUGE. It was also very good. The turkey was slow cooked all day with juices and carrots then put on top of bread. The bread soaks up the  wonderful juices. It you like turkey, given it a try.

This place is so close to home and the volleybally courts are fantastic and well lit!  There are hoses to rinse the sand off your body post-play and the servers are patient and attentive.  This is our go-to neighborhood bar on most Friday nights.  The only thing is they do not serve glass bottles, but that is only to discourage people from bringing their glass bottle out on the courts.   I come here for the courts and the staff.

This bar have 2 sand volleyball courts! Yup... you've got my attention now and I just need to find enough interested folks to come out here with me and play.

Overall, plenty of beers on tap.  Their food menu looks good too - although the foot long hot dog is NOT a foot long (about 8 inches so that was pretty deceiving).  I tried one of their burgers and it was decent.

To me, the winning point here is their volleyball courts and at night time, it's well-lit too.

Let me preface this review by saying that I am a "motorcycle enthusiast" and "dive bar/Ice house ethnusiast." Neither of these monikers put me in great stead here.  I am giving it 4 stars because it caters well to the market they are looking for, but it is an 3 star joint for me personally.  I enjoyed my two trips to the Crow Bar well enough, I really did, but it just wasn't really my scene.  If you are looking for a faux dive bar experience then this place is definitely a place you want to check out.  Gives you that gritty "Hey, I'm a working class kind of place tucked away in this working class neighborhood" kind of look when you drive up while catering to the people who live in the new very expensive houses in the neighborhood.  The wood on the walls, the naked ceiling (no tiles), dimly lit, and the works.  However, it is another new Oak Forest joint a la Cottonwood (albeit better in my opinion).   The food is great, the drinks are good, the service is mediocre (probably still have some kinks to work out),  and the volleyball court is a neat addition.

Unfortunately, the crowd just wasn't my scene.  I see it rapidly becoming a mecca for the young, hip, and the cool.  Young single men and women out there enjoying their youths in the way you would expect them to on Washington street with a little less traffic.  I have no problem with that, but it's just not for me.  I will be back because it was a cool little joint and my much more refined wife absolutely loved the place.  However  I will make sure to either wear athletic gear or a button up which are the two standards.  In the meantime, you will find me in the "scary" bars.

This place is going to be the new hot spot for hipsters, beer lovers, and Vball players. There are two professional sand volleyball courts outside, from what I hear, there's 3 feet of sand underneath your toes while you are enjoying a competitive game. After sweating a gallon of water in Houston summer, you can replenish with a myriad of beers. The inside is dark and cool, perfect for recovering after playing Vball (or a hangover), the enormous burgers are legit as long as you're not watching your figure! This is a great place to hang out with a group of friends for an afternoon or all night. They serve drinks and VBall til 2am (yes please!).

ATTN LADIES: another reviewer mentioned hot guys bearing six packs... Well she's right. So if you don't play Vball and just want a chill place to hang out and watch something nice, this is your place ;)

Volleyball and drinking, perfect match.  One of the few bars that has a volleyball court attached to it.  They have two courts, both in great condition although the sand is bit deeper than I prefer.  Water in a cooler near by and a hose to rinse off gives you all you need for some good vball.  Throw in some alcoholic beverages and you got yourself a hoot of a good time.  There is also cornhole and darts for those who enjoy some more typical bar games.

The place has an inside area as well.  Nice and cold to cool off from the hot heat playing vball.  Decent selection of beers, a couple of more specialty type drinks, and a menu of bar foods to give you nutrients.  Overall a solid place to hang out, even if you're not there to play vball too.

I suppose this place is a decent enough bar. The drink selection is good, the prices aren't inflated too much, and there's enough televisions and games (including 2 beach volleyball courts) to keep people entertained and occupied.

This place, like a lot of the other newish Garden Oak/Oak Forest bars, suffers from awful service. Our table of 12 or so people, without warning, was just asked to close all of our tabs from our overwhelmed blonde waitress around 9pm, even though no one had given an indication that we were about to leave. So little attention was paid to our large group that we just went up to the bar by ourselves. I don't think anyone minded that, but we'd rather not have a waitress if they're going to be neglectful and lazy.

After everyone closed out their tabs, the waitress continued serving (using the term loosely, as other tables were equally unhappy) the surrounding tables, without so much as giving an explanation as to why she ceased paying attention to us. When I went up to the bar when she refused to take my order the last time, I caught at least 3 waitresses either sitting on the counter snacking on bar food or texting on their phones.

I didn't hate this place, and could probably enjoy it and make a habit of coming, but I'll definitely have second thoughts about returning after the substandard service. Give it a shot, but if you like crap service and long waits, stick with Cottonwood.

I got a few beers, the Wakefield burger with a side salad. Ended up also giving a try to the fried mozzarella.
The burger was great, the side Caesar  salad was huge. The mozzarella was outstanding.
That was a perfect lunch treat after playing on the bar beach volley courts.
This is a unique place. Definitely worth checking out!

This place was just what we were looking for-a neighborhood hangout with great food and a chill atmosphere. My husband and I stopped by to check out this newly opened bar on a weekend afternoon.  It was about 90 outside, but the volleyball matches were going strong and the place was jumping.  My husband ordered a beer and we shared jalapeño poppers and hummus. Poppers were amazing-there is a large shrimp inside each one....a crazy idea, but tastes so good! They had some great heat-we actually argued about who would get the last one! The hummus was homemade and we enjoyed it as well.  Hubs ordered a turkey club with fries and I got the chicken tenders. The chicken tenders were amazing! Hands down the best tenders I've ever had.  I ate so much I felt sick which is crazy since we are talking bar food. It was a delicious lunch and the atmosphere was really fun. Great music, friendly staff, a huge draft beer selection and great grub=a great addition to the area.

I have been here several times now and I do like the food and the beer selections.  Lunch has a small but nice crowd with quick food turn around for the people in a hurry to get back to work.  Dinner time is a touch slower but the crowd is also greatly multiplied.  I had some pretty slow service to no service from more than one last night which made me decide to leave and find a better beverage else where.  The table service was 15-20 mins with and empty glass on in front of me.  Thought it might have been the server, went to the bar after closeing with her and much worse.  The GF sat at the bar with a glass upside down and empty waiting for someone to ask her anything, notta.  Disappointed in the service big time.  I know it's a new place but need better staff if this is going to work.  I'll stick with it for lunch but as far as a drink after work, I am not there anymore.

Our group was headed to another local spot for lunch today (Thursday) and were surprised it was closed. So we noticed a new place across and down the street and decided to give it a try.  Boy were we lucky~!  Wakefield CrowBar has outstanding hamburgers on fresh home-style buns, half pounders with a very wide variety of toppings and trimmings.  Our group considers the burgers to be among the best in town for the "large format" style burger (half pounders).

Although we don't drink at lunch, they appear to have a very wide selection of craft beers on tap, bottles and cans, along with all the standard domestic and popular imports.

They have plenty of TVs all over the place in a very roomy dining room, tables spread out so it's not too crowded, along with plenty of bar space and tall boy tables.  There are two professional looking volleyball courts, beach style, outdoors with deck space for viewing.  There are signs noting no food or drink outside, which might be a bummer in cooler months.

In case you are wondering, they are very welcoming to non-vballers, so stop in and give it a try.

Did you ever have an urge to play Volleyball at midnight...? This place has it! And cute guys to boot. Might I add, in this summer heat the guys seemed to prefer taking their shirt off to show off those abs.

Plus this place is a cool bar with a very chill vibe. me like.
It's just the next block over from Petrol Station and very similar in vibe, though P.S. closes as midnight and Crow Bar closes at 2am.

Great beer selection.  35 or so Taps.  No BS, the best chicken tenders I have EVER had.  Pesto chicken sandwich was pretty darn good too.  Great atmosphere, great place to hang out.  Plenty of tables inside, and a dozen + picnic tables outside on the patio that surrounds the sand volleyball courts.  I really can't complain about one thing.  Can't wait to try the rest of the menu.   Oh yeah, and it was super cheap, especially for the area.  5 stars all day.

A new beer bar that has opened up on nearly the same block as Petrol Station. It seems they are trying to copy Petrol and Cottonwood here. The L shaped bar is along the right wall, with an open dinning area. The vibe is kind of divey and dirty. Plenty of TV's scattered about. There are volleyball courts outside. Which is unique.

Service is quick enough, though not particularly knowledgeable on the menu, beer or food wise. They did not seem to know what kegs were available or what was empty. There was also some confusion on which food menu they were serving.  There is a breakfast menu and lunch/dinner.

Food is pub grub, and pretty generic at that. A large menu of apps, salads, sandwiches, and burgers. I went with the buffalo burger, which was the only thing even remotely different than the number of places in the area already mentioned. About a 6oz patty that was over cooked, and a little flavorless. Fries seemed frozen, and over seasoned with generic garlic powder. Not really bad...just nothing particularly good.

They try hard to have a good beer selection. I counted 35 taps.  A mix of Houston, other Texas breweries, national micros, and macros.  Though about 6 taps were empty.  Also a Cottonwood like cocktail list.

Overall, a chill dive bar with a decent selection of beers. I was not very impressed with the food unfortunately. Petrol has their ups and downs on food quality, but it is always interesting, Cottonwood is excellent, and Shepherd Park does excellent pub grub as well. I wanted to give this spot a try, and it is not bad.  Though it seems well behind the curve in this fun neighborhood.

My husband and I went on opening night and I was surprised at how well they had it together for their first night open! Our food came out quickly and the waitstaff was attentive. We ordered stew and a burger with onion rings-I'd recommend either. So very pleased to have a new dining option in the neighborhood.

CrowBar is the latest edition to the booming bar scene on Wakefield Drive. Haven't heard of Wakefield? That's cool with me, I'm more than happy to keep it all for myself. If you ever come to this street, you will noticed how absolutely unique it is. You'll find a church, school, trailer park, houses, apartments, warehouses... and bars. All on the same block in this residential area. Some of the top rated pubs in town are now here but it's totally away from the hustle and bustle of most other areas of night life.

I read on Facebook that CrowBar was having it's soft opening yesterday. I wasn't really in the mood for beer or anything, but I decided to stop inside for an inspection. And yes, I totally approve. I showed up a little before closing time. The bar staff was very friendly and gave me all the information I needed about their new place.

They also serve food here, I haven't tried it yet but I will update whenever I do. It's mostly pub food. Burgers, sandwiches, chicken tenders, sandwiches. They even named a burger after the infamous Wakefield drive (AWESOME!)

You won't find anyone playing pool or other typical bar games in here. INSTEAD, they have a full sized volleyball court. I look forward to getting buzzed and playing in the sand some time...

Check out their HUGE selection of craft beers!
