Just visited this restaurant on Sunday and we were not impressed. The outdoors and indoors are very shabby and I don't even know how they pass an inspection. We stopped there to eat because we were desperate and all the other places we passed were closed (it was Sunday evening). I can look past the crappiness of the outdoors and interior so we sat at a table and were looking through the menu and were astounded at the very high prices. We honestly wanted to get up and walk out because it was astronomically high, especially in a run down restaurant like that!
My husband took our son to the bathroom and he came out saying it was atrocious and so dirty he didn't even let our son flush the toilet. (It takes a lot for my husband to complain about the dirtiness of a place so I knew it must have been horrible) He said it was so dirty and disgusting he couldn't believe they'd keep their bathrooms like that.
Needless to say, we ordered our food - I had the shrimp kebobs (2 skewers, some fries & a tiny salad on the side of my plate) for over $16, I ordered my son the fish sandwich (he's 3..they had no kid's menu but that didn't bother me since it wasn't exactly a kid's restaurant, but I just wanted to note for others that there is no kid's menu) which was the cheapest sandwich on the menu for $12+, and my husband ordered the spicy shrimp something for over $16. A cup of juice was over $3 and sodas were $2.
Needless to say our bill was just about $70 for two adults and one toddler and we didn't even order any alcohol.
The food was good, especially my son's fish sandwich, BUT, I would not go back. The place was dirty, rundown and very overpriced.
Khara and I took a trip from Honolulu to the North Shore to watch a surfing competition. Â We decided to take the long way home and drive down the windward side. Â
We passed about ten places that were selling shrimp and corn on the cob. Â Many of them were just a van or trailer with a tent next to them. Â Both Khara and I though we should stop at one of them. Â After a while we could not find any more of those shrimp places but we found a cute place with open seating that had a lot of neon signs saying "fresh shrimp" and "oysters."
A nice lady showed us to our seats and gave us our menus. Â They had a limited selection. Â Both Khara and I thought that meant they must make everything on the menu really well. Â We were wrong.
I ordered a spicy shrimp plate with an iced tea and Khara ordered fish and chips and a water. Â Our drinks came right out and it a nice man delivered our food in a reasonable time. Â Everything went down hill after that.
The man who delivered our food said he would go get us ketchup and tartar sauce. Â He came right back with a plate of oysters and asked us if they were ours. Â We said, "No" and then waited for our condiments. Â He never came by our table again so I took some condiments off another table.
My $12 shrimp plate had only 8 shrimp on it and they were not fresh. Â Also on my plate was about six green beans and a handful of "Freedom Fries." Â Is it safe for me to call them "French Fries?" Â Anyhow the shrimp was spicy but not that good.
Khara's fish was pretty good but she was also only given a handful of fries and just a smidgen of green beans. Â We were both willing to let the crappy food slide, ate our food, and waited for a refill on our drinks.
One woman came by and asked the table next to us if they needed anything else and ignored us. Â Another woman came with a pitcher of water and filled the glasses of a table near by, Khara even turned all the way around, made eye contact, and the woman walked away without stopping at our table.
We waited about 10 minutes and no one came to our table to refill our drinks or give us our tab. Â We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but they were not that busy. Â We had to ask for our check and then we left a crappy tip. Â
Long story short, the food sucked and the service was even worse. Â The food was overpriced as well.
