pretty good lil dog/gyro joint. Â I came on Tues when they had free drink w/ the burger purchase. Â I got the bacon burger w/ everything...the burger itself was VERY tasty off the grill, tasted fresh and was a good thickness. Â Bacon was so-so. Â The fries are pretty good, if not slightly greasy for being fresh. Â Their menu is huge for being a small place. Â Of course a lot of it revolves around the fryer. Â I had a dog previously and it was good (though as others mentioned, not a poppy seed bun). Â Fairly cramped place...but there's about 8 or 9 booths/tables and some seating outside. Â Got a tv playing sports and music playing. Â People running the joint are pretty great. Â Coke products. Â they have breakfast items too, though I haven't tried that yet. Â Prices are pretty competitive w/ similar joints. Â The daily deals are a good price if you are there those days. Â
nice local place...I'll be coming back again!
Wee-Dee's is located off of Randall Road in North Aurora. Sporting Red Hot Chicago umbrellas on the outside I thought I would stop in and give it a try. I decided to try their hot dog and fries.
Within a few minutes my food was brought out to me. The first thing I noticed about the hot dog itself was that it did not include a poppy seed bun. The bun itself felt like it came right out of a package, it wasn't exactly soft and also felt cold, it didn't appear there was any attempt to steam the bun made. The hot dog itself felt a bit over-steamed with some of the flavor missing from it. There was far too much neon green relish on it, the pickle was cut too thick and was too sour, I even got a jelly bean shaped sport pepper on it. The mustard and onions were at least properly applied, and there did not appear to be a trace of celery salt.
The fries were bland thick fries, the outside was crispy but the inside didn't have a nice soft potato paste like most good fries do. These weren't so great either.
Overall Wee-Dee's is a poor representation of a Chicago Style Hot dog. The dog I received had way too much relish which overpowered the rest of the flavor of the dog, the bun wasn't steamed, the pickle was too large. I can't recommend this place.
After a bad gyro experience at BC's sandwiches in Aurora, I was on a search for good gyros. Â My search ended at Wee-Dee's. Â Yelpers did not steer me wrong. :) I've been there three times, and the gyro meat is always warm and has those crispy edges that I like. Â They aren't stingy with the tatsiki (sp) sauce either. Â I haven't tried anything else there (I'm just so happy to have found good gyros) so they get 4/5 stars for now.
