I ordered the whole southern pulled pork sandwich. I could only eat half. The portions were very generous. I was expecint the sandwitch smothered in BBQ sause. The sandwitch over all was ok. I thought it was a little blan. I would come back here again. The service was great and i would just try stomthing diffrent.

I work close to West Coast. The smell of smoking the meat drives me crazy with hunger during the week. I order food to go at least once a month. I have learned to just order the BBQ Beef or Pork by the pound. The chicken is very dried out to me. Ribs are ok...nothing like Phils, but will satisfy your hunger for the taste. I have never had a meal inside...only take out.

Mostly disappointed. The French dip pretty much sucked. The bread tasted like old grease. Not sure if they used it to clean the grill but that's sort of howit tasted. The meat was plentiful but lacked any flavor. The au jus also lacked flavor so basically the old oil flavored bread was the predominant taste. The beer was outstanding though so it was not a complete loss. Maybe they should ditch the kitchen and stick to the brews. Or even bring in a food truck, I've had far superior food from food trucks.

West coast is great.  For an english-man living in San Diego, this is the closest I get to an English pub feel.  They have great beer on tap and they keep it well so ita great every time.  I've had food here a couple of times which has been great, but I come here for the bar and beers.

We ate the pulled pork sandwich, beef sandwich, chili, and beer batters garlic fries. Delicious! They offer many BBQ sauces that are like the icing on the cake.Everything on the menu sounded so good. I don't think you can go wrong with the food here - or the beer. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a few craft brews. The girl that was working behind the bar was friendly and quick to provide great service.

    I'm a fan.

My wife and I were out for a ride yesterday and were actually heading to a franchise restaurant down the street. While waiting at the light the smell of barbeque came drifting by and I commented on how F'n good that smelled. She pointed out the restaurant, so, on a whim we decided to check it out.

Now, she has Celiac disease and cannot eat gluten. This unfortunately tends to rule out many, many, food options.

When I entered, the greater was kind, friendly, and quickly offered to seat us. Before accepting, I inquired about any of their items being gluten free since this was of primary concern. She thought for a moment and ran back to ask the chef. We were presently surprised to find out that the pulled pork, BBQ beef, and chicken are gluten free.

They have cider on tap, which is good since that's gluten free too. To get a feel for the food we ordered two pints and their pulled pork potato skins.  It was very good, lovely tender pork, topped with bacon and cheese. You can't go wrong with that! The waitress also pointed out that the BBQ sauce on the table in the yellow bottle was gluten free. Thanks!!

Having been sold on the excellent and attentive service we decided to stay for dinner. I ordered ribs, spare I think, I don't remember exactly. They were good and that's all that matters to me. My wife ordered the BBQ beef.  It usually comes with BBQ sauce on top and it came out the window that way. The waitress caught it and had the chef fix it without bringing it to the table. Very attentive, I got the impression she actually understood how important it was to not poison my wife!

On a side note, at the table across from us there was some jackass trying to get his meal for free (after eating 90% of it) because he found a bone or piece of tendon in it? OK buddy, if you want BBQ with no bones then go order a McRib! The owner or manager handled it well. The customer, ha, I think my opinion of that freeloading dirtball is obvious.

So, over all, I would give the food 4 stars. It was good BBQ! The service 5 stars!!

The barbeque was fine.  The sides were a little lackluster.  What disturbs me is that before Tom Nickel took this place over, the sides were even worse.

The one thing that Tom Nickel did do however is, is introduce a great beer joint in this part of town.  This would have honestly been a 3 star review for me, but their beer selection is top notch, bumping it to 4.0.

On tap was tons of Societe and Alpine.  Really, for a bbq joint, that's just gross.

Yes, I am an O'briens patron which is why I stopped by here.  Come here for the beer.  Stay for some bbq (which isn't too shabby either... got some beef ribs.. yum....)

p.s. Sorry, Tom Nickel is the new owner.  He's also the owner of O'briens Pub on Convoy, one of the best beer bars in the country (yes, country).

I have been here over a dozen times, and have been reluctant on my reviews becuase typically I just go for a couple local, craft beers.  Recently I've had a few meals here, and have grown quite fond of West Coast BBQ.  This last Saturday I had a "special" sandwich (BLTP), bacon, lettuce, tomato, and pulled pork.  It was phenomenal!

The other day, I got to sit next to one of the lead brewers of Alesmith, and sample the IPA they had on cask that he himself brewed...what an opportunity...I learned more about beer in 15 minutes while chatting with him than I have my whole life.

Another perk, while sitting outside on the patio, it is rather entertaining watching the people come in and out of the baby consignment store next door.  One gentleman, was with his "hommie", and as they were walking up, his hommie asked him..man what you gettin Jaelyn this weekend?  He answered, "man she was last weekend, different baby's momma, I gotta get Shane covered now."  Oh the little things that just make your day.

Keep up the hard work West Coast!  Thanks for the great service, good eats, and a chill place to hang out.

West Coast is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood.  We have been short on decent resturants in the area, so thanks for staying open. The food was amazing, one of the better BBQ places around, but recently it has dropped off a bit.  I understand a new chef and updating the menu at a place, sometimes falls short, but I appreciate that they want to hear what you think.  Michelle and the Stephanie's are very attentive and efficient, thanks ladies. Great line up of Beers and constantly changing and that is awesome.

I'm just going to get to the point with this review and say it was just not very good, I had the half slab of baby back ribs with potato salad and baked beans and nothing was good. The beans were soup like, the potato salad tasted like the stuff you buy from the store and like they microwaved it and sat it on the table for an hour to dry out. Not very good. The ribs were completely dry, a tad burnt and fatty. I barely got a nibble from them. I most likely will never want to eat anything from here again. Very unimpressed.

Craft beers and delicious BBQ. Giving it 4 stars because we came on a quiet night. Will give it 5 if we get the same service and food next time. What a gem!

Have been eating at this establishment for several years now.  The food was always passable -- I'm not connosieur of BBQ, but I know what tastes good and what doesn't.  We always like that this place offered outdoor seating.

I typically get the carnitas (pork) plate -- and all-you-can-eat thing that comes with tortillas, beans and some garnish for the carnitas.  This time, the waitress cautioned us and reminded us that thre reciped had changed since the new owners had taken over a year ago.. I'd eaten there many times since the ownership change.  She indicatated rather sheepishly the new recipe called for the carnitas to be "crispier."  I got the feeling that she was telling me this because they had had many complaints from customers that did not like the new recipe.  I stuck with the order, though thought it was odd -- it was clear that many patrons did not like the new recipe, yet they were still serving it that way.

Boy was she right!  The carnitas arrived, dry, cripsy, and much of it was overcooked to the point that it was just hard, dry, pulp:  Inedible!  Since this was an all you can eat dish, I could have ordered more, but what was the point?  They would all come out the same.  I suppose there are those who like meat prepared this way, but hard for me to comprehend:  who wouldn't want carnitas to come out, hot, moist, and juicy?
And as I said, apprarently there have been many complaints.  Go figure.  And if that wasn't enought the tortillas crumbled in my hand.  Not sure what caused that problem;  too thin?  Overcooked?  Stale? It's all bad.

And as has been said here previously, we waited 45 minutes for food to arrive.

I've given up.  Won't be back.

Went to West Coast Barbecue & Brew last night and cannot believe how awful the food was. The beef itself was just OK, certainly nothing special, but the coleslaw was so bad we sent it back, only to get baked beans that were even worse!  Possibly one of the worst restaurant meals I have ever had....

"Next time, you need to wait to be seated". That was how we were greeted by our young waitress when we sat down. This was after we had just given up our seats at the bar so a couple could sit next to their friends. Needless to say, that did not set the mood for a very relaxing dinner. While it wasn't her responsibility, the bartender ended up waiting on us and she was an absolute sweetheart probably due to the fact that she felt bad about how we were treated. She gave us nice service, apologized, and even took a beer off our tab. Sad to say she was not the one who needed to apologize.  The food here is good and that is what kept us from walking out. I recommend this place as long as you don't get the young snapper as your waitperson.

This place is blooming! I would have to argue with HEATHER C. The last owners were not a 5 star restaurant. The new owners are incredibly nice and know their beer. Compared to its last owners, where it was only open a couple times a week, the new owners have extended it 7 days a week!! Also, $10 pitcher sunday and monday on their craft side. Awesome deal considering craft side consists of Racer 5 and sometimes coronado, hangar 24, sierra nevada and few others. $16 pitchers on the strong side on mondays and they offer Societe, Coronado, Stone, Bear Republic, Green Flash, Alpine, Avery and more.

Food rocks!! gotta love that 50 cent monday wings, Or the BBQ feast for 2 is a ton of food! If you love beer and BBQ, forget about Phil's and their line, cuz West Coast is where it is at!!!

Food was really tasty and portions were good sized. There were plenty of beers to choose from on tap and enjoyed a pint or three while waiting for my order (to go). Staff friendly, even when I alluded to the whole east coast-west coast fued. Atmosphere definitely not a chain restaurant and worth the visit.

We've been going here since before the management change and have always loved the food.  People can be particular about their BBQ, but not me.  I like all styles of well made BBQ because it's delicious smoked meat.  Who needs to argue about what kind is best?
    Eat.
Now they are under new owners and have an outstanding tap list.  Makes it even better.
It was a tad uneven at first after the change, but they have all the same folks working for the most part and they know good service.  One our regular rotation for sure.

First time back since ownership change. There is almost nothing worse than walking out of a restaurant after eating and wishing you had just stayed home and made a sandwich. That's how my wife and I felt tonight when we left west coast barbecue. My wife had the baby back ribs and chicken, I had the sliced beef. I won't call it smoked or barbecued beef because all it tasted like was over cooked roast beef with some mediocre sauce poured over it. Bland, dry and lacking any smoke flavors. The ribs and chicken while not dry, lacked any kind of flavors that you would expect from a good smokehouse. The server also told me that it was a new recipe for the beans. These also lacked any outstanding flavors. And to top it off, whoever prepared them did not soak them long enough before cooking. There is nothing like chewy beans. Those five star reviews are obviously from employees, friends of employees or possibly the owners themselves. I know the previous owners used to specialize in catering but this food looks and tastes like bad wedding catering. I'm sure some of you have had the unfortunate experience of eating food from Ranch Catering. This is the same food. Too many good BBQ places out there to come back here.
    Sad!

This place used to be 5 star. Here are the changes that have resulted in the lower rating:

1- the baked beans. They used to be AMAZING. Even after the change in ownership, they were delish. Today they were soupy and bland. Nit nearly enough beans in my beans. They were okay, but nothing particularly special.

2- the pulled pork. It's always been smoky and sauce-free, you apply it to taste, or there was a ladleful on top. Now? It's all mixed in. It tasted like the Costco prepackaged variety. Okay, but not great.

3- the beef. It used to be smoky and tender, now its chewy and bland. I know they have a pit smoker, but I couldn't detect any smokiness.

All-in-all, its ok. Not like it used to be. My ribs were burnt, but I prefer them that way. My roommate wasn't happy about it. Chicken was fine. I'll still go here over BBQ pit or Phil's, but I miss the old food.

Please pay attention to negative reviews for close by will always be a couple high reviews. You can sure tell when friends give a high review to a struggling eatery. I give it ONE star for I had the cheese burger which is no way any higher than a one star for trying. It's true..."You don't get a second chance to make a first impression". This isn't intended to hurt or mislead people it's called GIVE A REVIEW so lets be fair and honest otherwise Yelp is a joke too!

I'm 60 and have been a barbecueologist since 1973. Ate there last night for the second time in two years and wont again. The worst burger I've ever eaten (FROZEN). Zero flavor. My guess cooked on a flat grill served on a chewy bun...didn't finish it. Come on west coast...we know what a burger should taste like and this isn't it. The owners should try a burger from Rocky's in PB or Barefoot Burger I think in PB or The High Dive on Morena Blvd. Too bad Geno's Westcoast BBQ isn't around anymore to try theirs or that east county place on Maine in Lakeside. I didn't have a beer so pay attention to the other reviews. The place is most drab and simple with a flat screen on each wall. The sweet potato fries were as good as store bought. Not complaining for they were good. The sauces are very sweet, overpowering like eating liquid candy. In closing, I went there for a burger and would go back if it was worth going back for.

I had high hopes for this place, but ended up very disappointed. Went to this place on a Friday night around 6:30.  First of all the hostess was horrific, completely didn't even bother to make eye contact with me. The place is small so the inside was packed. I asked how long the wait would be, her response.... After a minute of hems & huhs she said 10-30 mins? Didn't even suggest outside seating.  After seating ourselves outside a friendly waitress took our drink order. We ordered the 2 for $20 deal they had. The food was just ok.  Not good enough to come back. we have friends that have made better in their home smokers.  Great beers on tap! And their sauce on the table where pretty good!

I love the beer selection, I love the waitresses, I love the happy hour and the flat screen televisions... and wait, I am forgetting something... oh yes. I love the BBQ Pulled pork sandwich more than life itself!!!  Soo buttery and delicious!!!

Disappointed yet again. When will I learn?

I keep hoping that we'll find a hidden gem in our neighborhood of San Carlos but mediocrity rules. And West Coast fits right in with the rest.

If you're not a foodie like me you'll probably think this place is just dandy, but if you have any sense of what good BBQ can be, don't waste the gas.

We ordered the $22 Feast for Two. No complaints with the price or the portion size but that's where the praise ends. Good BBQ results from quality ingredients, careful seasoning and lots of smokey time. There's nothing about the food on my plate that suggests any of these are in play. Ribs were OK, meaty enough and tender but pulled pork was nothing more than baked pork butt with no hint of smoke or seasoning. Most of the meat was dark meat....ewwww. Chicken was completely uninspired.

Everything was drowned in a sweet, sticky sauce that tasted like it came out of a gallon jar. Sauces on the table were also terrible. Come on guys, how hard is it to make a nice tangy vinegar based sauce?

Sides were mixed. Coleslaw was fresh and homemade but very bland. Baked beans were passable. Greasy, bread-y onion rings were awful.

I am not a craft beer enthusiast so I can't speak about the selection but it looked impressive.

Service was pretty bad. There was one underage girl (she said she wasn't allowed to pour my beer but she could serve it?) covering 5-6 tables and the cash register at lunch on the weekend. She seemed sweet enough, but clearly had no serving experience. The owner (I assume) sat at the bar counting cash (really?) while this poor girl ran around.

Overall impression: this is a poor imitation of BBQ and not a very good hospitality experience. Pass it by.

Hidden Gem in La Mesa.  I'm always on the hunt for locally owned restaurants and I'm happy to have found this one.  We had the sampler bbq plate for two and everything was delicious.  The pulled pork was my favorite.  The servers were very friendly and the beer was cold!

So we went (3 in our group) for my bday last night.  Had a coupon - 2 meals for $22 for the sampler.  This place is seriously AMAZING!!!  ALL meats were incredible - from the BBQ sauce to the tender, fall off the bones ribs.  Onion rings to die for.  Caesar salad fresh and yummy!  Service was FABULOUS! We will most definitely be making this one of our favorite let's-go-out-to-eat place!!

I really disagree with the negative reviews of this restaurant. I had a wonderful dinner here last night with my fiance and his parents. We sat at the bar and had the most friendly and attentive service from Michelle even on a busy Saturday night.

We did take part in their $22 feast for two special and I was super happy with our meal. Everything was tender and flavorful and the spare ribs were my absolute favorite. Their craft beer selection was great as well...love that they had  firestone walker, green flash and sierra nevada beers on draft. Drinks were very reasonably priced.

It really was such a generous offer and I'm glad we came out to try it. We live 40 min. away and it was definitely worth the drive. I would love to come back again for their bbq ribs!

We are big beer geeks, so we gave WCBBQ a try.  The beer selection looked good, until we discovered that about a third of the taps were dry.  But we were able to find something suitable to drink.

Problem #1.  We seemed to be a big imposition for our waitress.  I guess she was busy ignoring her other customers so providing us any kind of service was an imposition.  C'mon for the love of God, smile for a customer, make them feel welcome.  You might get a better tip or at least come off not looking like a sour crab. (0 stars for you missy!)

Problem #2.  We ordered a plate of potato skins.  It was one small potato quartered.   I wish I had taken a picture - it was ridiculous - I wish I had sent it back -  but I guess we were laughing so hard and looking for the hidden camera.  But the joke was on us. (1 little star for 1 little potato)

We will try WC BBQ again - hopefully after they get their act together.

One star is all this place deserves.  If it wasn't for the tenderness of the beef, it would get a big fat ZERO.

Waited 10 minutes for our drinks and whopping 45 minutes for the food.  Unfortunately the fries had to be sent back because they sat at the 'pass' for 20 minutes before the rest of the order caught up.

The service was poor.....only one server on the floor, and the owner wasn't lending her a hand which she most desperately needed.  When the owner stopped by our table to see how we were doing and he didn't recieve a rave review, he went into shutdown mode and seemed to really care less.  His bar patrons were definitely getting the best of what service there was as they were the only ones having a good time in the whole place.

Used to be a nice family establishment with great service and fantastic food.  Sorry to see it go by the way of a future sports bar.

We won't be back.....nor we will recommend WCBBQ to anyone.

    What a colossal disappointment!

The food is MEDIOCRE at best, the service is HORRIBLE and the owner is indifferent to the problems plaguing this establishment. On the other hand . . . the beer is cold! But then I can drink craft beers at home or other bars at better prices with better ambiance than W.C. BBQ.

I waited almost an hour for a pulled pork sandwich. I should have followed others who tired of the long waits (and, no, it was not busy) and walked out!

Save money and your valuable time and look elsewhere for your BBQ.  I would suggest Phil's . . . the food is good and the service is great.

If you're a glutton for punishment give this place a shot . . . but make it quick . . . my guess is they won't be around for long!

Well they say 3rd times a charm, not with this place! Well not since they changed owners! tonight my family and I attempted to have dinner at West Coast Barbecue & Brew again without success. The last two times were ether to busy with those remembering the old owners and high hopes the new owners were going to maintain the quality and service or newbies trying a new place and when they closed on a Sunday afternoon at 7 PM. Tonight we waited 40 mins for a table, once inside we waited and waited for just a glass of water and with high hopes of a beer. Remember its my Birthday.. The manager clean the table next to us without even asking if we'd like water or something else.. I guess cleaning a table is more important than customers.. While waiting I noticed people around us watching the kitchen like vultures as if a carcass was about to drop from the sky. I asked a man who'd just been served how long it took for his food to arrive, 40 Minutes he said! I may have some weight to loose but not that long. So we left..

Folks, from the Management to the Greeter they don't get it, they have no idea how to serve customers, how to run a restaurant, and frankly they've turned this place into a bar with low lighting and bar service, lots of flat screens but only two servers if that for both the outside and inside seating. The manager could have at least offered us a glass of water but he was too busy cleaning a table and talking to the already drunks at the bar.

We went to Boilweevel in Lakeside and were seated right away, given water and a beer within just a few minutes, our food was fast and tastey. I will NEVER go back to this place and I do not recommend it to anyone else.

I've never done this, but I felt obligated. Most of my reviews are a day or two after I go some place, but since I'm sitting here waiting for my food with new waitress to bring me a beer (they are busy with the regulars at the bar) I had time to kill.

Can't evaluate the food. Still waiting. Beer is cold and decent. In San Diego it's next to impossible to screw up beer. It's all made here.
    The rest.......
Wait service is slow and indifferent at best.
Don't see a BBQ so I'm probably getting oven roasted.
Room is small and no character.
    Result?
    I won't be back for a meal.
A beer and the pulled pork nachos advertised on the special board? Maybe if I am in the area.

    Update......
    Ate the food. Not thrilled.
    Chicken was good.
Beef was bland and a bit on the chewy side.
My wife's pulled pork was good. My pulled pork had a lot of slimy fat chunks. Usually an indicator of pork not cooked long enough or hot enough. Troubling we ordered the same dish with such different results.

I retract my earlier statement. I wont be going back considering the number of BBQ places in San Diego.

The long and the short on this place....

The beer selection and pricing are great....the food sucks.  I honestly have had better bbq frozen from a box and heated in a microwave. Either way it is worth a visit if not just for the beer.

Had I been at a cafeteria, or a buffet place like HomeTown, then I'd say the food was pretty good. But this place touts itself as a barbecue joint, and the only barbecue I saw was in the bottles on my table.

The food tasted like it was fresh out of the can. Although the meat was tender in my French Dip, it had no real taste and the meat was not cut French Dip style. My boyfriend's sandwich, the Barbecue Beef, looked just like mine, but with a different cheese and no dipping sauce. There was no Barbecue flair to anything we ordered. Even the corn on the cob lacked any signs of being barbecued - I think it was boiled.

The beer selection looked plentiful, but that's no reason to visit this joint again. With Phil's BBQ coming to Santee, I think I'll just hold off on my BBQ cravings until then because this place did not measure up!

This was one of my favorite spots.  Seems like the new owners didnt keep it the same.

I am writing this review on the location I went for dinner located on 6126 Lake Murray Blvd., in La Mesa, CA. 91942. Yelp has another location listed on 7455 Mission George Rd,  "La Mesa" which is incorrect. I tried to edit the business location but the parameters are locked for some reason. I do not want to mislead anyone, so I am adding this as a new location in La Mesa were I ate. Check out their website and my pictures for confirmation.

When I arrived, I was in luck because I arrived before the dinner rush. I ordered their wings for $6.99. It sounds a little pricey but they at least gave me 10 of them. The wings were lightly breaded and had a very nice crunch. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/HOoUea5JKOCsmNmowz8sxQ?select=AjdPjRppG_7G8qwbAhfV1w#u1RQ2AiehrLUH-AqX1Xocw">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) They also had a light spice in the breading which was nice. For a dollar more, they asked if I wanted their hotter sauce on them, but I turned that down. I was not happy that they wanted to charge me more for something that should already come on the wings or at least on the side. However, the wings were good on their own. I added some table side BBQ sauce or had some with their thick blue cheese, and I was a happy camper.

I also ordered their French Dip with mixed results. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/HOoUea5JKOCsmNmowz8sxQ?select=AjdPjRppG_7G8qwbAhfV1w#xa66jVNgxOsadX5EWKSiEA">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) Although the meat tasted good, the meat on the dip was to thick for this particular type of sandwich. Hence,  the meat tended to be a little dry. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/HOoUea5JKOCsmNmowz8sxQ?select=AjdPjRppG_7G8qwbAhfV1w#RjOmRf2o38W8vpdGH8rk4g">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) I thought dunking the dip in the au jus would moisten it up, but I was put out with the flavor of the au jus. It did not taste natural or if it was made out of the natural dripping of the meats. It tasted pre-made from a package. I am not certain and I should of asked, but it sure did not taste homemade. I had my meal with a side of russet potatoe salad. The salad was nice and tangy with a hint of dill. The French dip was $8.99

The good thing was that the sandwich was not a total lost because I decided to turn my second half of my sandwich into a BBQ sandwich. I poured some of their table side BBQ sauce all over the sandwich and that sure pepped it up. (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/HOoUea5JKOCsmNmowz8sxQ?select=AjdPjRppG_7G8qwbAhfV1w#AjdPjRppG_7G8qwbAhfV1w">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) It improved the texture and it tasted much better than being a French Dip sandwich.

The service was very good, and if they would only thinly slice their beef and let it sit in a flavorful broth to keep it moist and tender, the French Dip would be what it should be.

New ownership bartender said it's owned by the same guy  that runs  O'Brien's Pub  in Kearny Mesa . Intimate  place 10 or so tables and a good sized bar with 12 seats or so.Also have outdoor patio seating . Inside of this place is really basic . Great line up of beers many locals  beers and bartender had a great knowledge of the beers !

No happy hour at this time. Started with some  wings which are breaded and I added bite you back sauce for 1.00 to the wings$6.99. Sauce is a BBQ sauce with a slow back ground heat, which comes from habaneros. Wings were tasty.

Next I got pulled sandwich w/ beans.(   <a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/VdIdFTMTSi4-Nz8d4avNiw?select=ng0geEzEUETEJkQR7GNZrQ#L46-5gv9_cbDIR1MXHFStA">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a> ) The sandwich came  out on a hoagie  roll with just pork no sauce, for$8.99  . Meat is not  pulled but chopped. The meat is not smoked, no pink smoke ring , bark or smoke  taste. The pork was seemed to  be oven cooked or crock potted? Meat was dry and either not seasoned of poorly seasoned.

Had 3 types of sauces a Texas sauce , raspberry chipotle sauce and a mustard sauce. Texas  was sweet normal sauce, raspberry chipotle sauce sweet with a little kick ,and  mustard  sauce , seemed to be a Dijon sauce , and not the typical mustard vinegar sauce . The BBQ beans contained  pinto, kidney beans  and some pork I think , in a sweet sauce ,not bad.

One TV at the bar, 28 taps wide variety of local and popular beers. Ballast point, Alpine , Mission, Racer 5, Coronado,Green Flash ,Hangar 24,Karl Strauss,Societe Brewing Co( really new SD brewery)and more!

Interesting little place in and older strip mall in La mesa . The name in my opinion is deceiving . When I see a place called West Coast BBQ I expect  real BBQ. Another disappointing BBQ place.Good place to come if you  live in the area and grab a beer from their  good selection .

Here's the deal:  West Coast BBQ and Brew replaces West Coast BBQ which was owned by the family that ran and still runs Bekkers Catering.

West Coast BBQ was very nice family restaurant.  Families at the  tables, and family in the kitchen.  The food was superb as was the service.  THEY ARE MISSED.

The new place?   Tried it twice.  Done.
