This was actually our second stop of the day. Westwood has emloyed some savvy website builders in that whatever you Google, anything from brewpubs to yak rides in Tibet, Westwood pops up somewhere on the main pge. It was inevitable that we'd come here. As an intersting aside they share common restrooms with Wildberry Pancakes & Cafe which could result in some interesting cultural collisions on college game days and NFL Sundays.
We loved the room. The front room consisted of a u-shaped stone topped bar, see-through metal mesh behind it housed the liquor shelves which were flanked by flagstone,  high cielings, wide staggered wood floorboards, dark wood walls with big windows, and to the right of the hostess stand a very slightly curving stair, flanked by flagstone on one side, to the second floor loft. Lots of TVs on both floors.
Sheila was our bartender, a pretty lady with long wavy red hair* who was as much fun as any other bartender I've encountered. She knew her barstock and was on top of things with a great sense of humor as well.
My girl had a fruit infused liquor from a large glass vessel at the end of the bar and I had the Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA. If you don't like a lot of hops you'll want to skip this one. We both also had a couple of "martini" concoctions of Rum Chata, Jim Beam (?) maple bourbon, and a third liquor, with caramel drizzled on the inside of the glass. My form of dessert.
We'd already eaten but the menu looked interesting. Sheila described a number of the dishes emphasizing the fact that they were all dishes that weren't consisting of items repeated throughout the menu to lower food cost. She also was quick to say that they were all worth ordering. We need to get back here for lunch.
Had fun talking with a regular named Steve. He was absorbed with a lap-top when we came in but unlike some who feel that conversation is an intrusion when they're "working" (in bar for Chrissakes) he was more than game.
*I don't want to get into too much hot water here with the physical description but if the place was a dive Shiela would be worth coming back to see.
Overall review: 3.5...
I came here with a friend on a weekday evening...the place was packed, but thankfully we didn't have to wait to get seated...
Food:
Smoked garlic herb half chicken served with mashed potatoes ($14.50): Â it wasn't the best chicken i've tasted...a little bland.. a little dry.. probably wouldn't get this next time..
Bacon wrapped Angus meatloaf bed of redskin mashed potatoes topped with onion rings ($13.00): delicious and juicy/moist...loved the bacon + meatloaf combo...definitely would try it...:)
Sweet potato fries: we got it as one of our sides...
Chicken wings 8 wings for ($7.00): good, but would rather get BWW..we tried the Garlic parmesan & Friggin hot...the Friggin hot was spicy..so if you can't handle spicy.. don't get it...
Portions: are pretty big... you can get two different dishes and share among 3 people or maybe just order 2 dishes and have leftovers..but then again.. you're hearing this from a girl that doesn't eat a lot a lot...
Atmosphere: to go place for young adults/professionals, love how they have couches in the middle where you can eat and watch a game by yourself...check it out! :) Great place to just chat with friends and/or go alone to watch a game..
Customer Service: the service took awhile at times and wasn't the greatest, but the waitress was nice....
Costs: expect to spend around ~$15+ for a meal...
Parking: they do have a parking lot, but it gets packed so unless you get lucky with parking... you'll have to walk a little
I would come here again just to enjoy the atmosphere and sit in one of those couches while i watch a game.. :0
Went here with family that was staying at the Renaissance hotel up the street. The place is very nice. The booths have taps in the tables which is pretty cool. Our waitress was great, but the hostess was rude. We wanted to watch a baseball game, and we said can you put us at a table where we can watch the game. She then proceeded to put us in what I believe to be the only table without a good view of a TV. When we asked for a different table, she rolled her eyes at us and stormed off. When we finally sat down, we ordered some chips and guac and chicken nachos and a round of drinks. The chips were made in house, but they were very oily. Guac was good and it was a bit spicy. Nachos were ok. After a few drinks, we ordered some wings, a couple burgers, a salad, and a cup of minestrone. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. I liked the wings, but the blue cheese dressing wasn't very good. Overall, this place is a good place to have a drink and an appetizer, but I wouldn't put it at the top of my list.
