This was actually our second stop of the day. Westwood has emloyed some savvy website builders in that whatever you Google, anything from brewpubs to yak rides in Tibet, Westwood pops up somewhere on the main pge. It was inevitable that we'd come here. As an intersting aside they share common restrooms with Wildberry Pancakes & Cafe which could result in some interesting cultural collisions on college game days and NFL Sundays.
We loved the room. The front room consisted of a u-shaped stone topped bar, see-through metal mesh behind it housed the liquor shelves which were flanked by flagstone,  high cielings, wide staggered wood floorboards, dark wood walls with big windows, and to the right of the hostess stand a very slightly curving stair, flanked by flagstone on one side, to the second floor loft. Lots of TVs on both floors.
Sheila was our bartender, a pretty lady with long wavy red hair* who was as much fun as any other bartender I've encountered. She knew her barstock and was on top of things with a great sense of humor as well.
My girl had a fruit infused liquor from a large glass vessel at the end of the bar and I had the Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA. If you don't like a lot of hops you'll want to skip this one. We both also had a couple of "martini" concoctions of Rum Chata, Jim Beam (?) maple bourbon, and a third liquor, with caramel drizzled on the inside of the glass. My form of dessert.
We'd already eaten but the menu looked interesting. Sheila described a number of the dishes emphasizing the fact that they were all dishes that weren't consisting of items repeated throughout the menu to lower food cost. She also was quick to say that they were all worth ordering. We need to get back here for lunch.
Had fun talking with a regular named Steve. He was absorbed with a lap-top when we came in but unlike some who feel that conversation is an intrusion when they're "working" (in bar for Chrissakes) he was more than game.
*I don't want to get into too much hot water here with the physical description but if the place was a dive Shiela would be worth coming back to see.
Overall review: 3.5...
I came here with a friend on a weekday evening...the place was packed, but thankfully we didn't have to wait to get seated...
Food:
Smoked garlic herb half chicken served with mashed potatoes ($14.50): Â it wasn't the best chicken i've tasted...a little bland.. a little dry.. probably wouldn't get this next time..
Bacon wrapped Angus meatloaf bed of redskin mashed potatoes topped with onion rings ($13.00): delicious and juicy/moist...loved the bacon + meatloaf combo...definitely would try it...:)
Sweet potato fries: we got it as one of our sides...
Chicken wings 8 wings for ($7.00): good, but would rather get BWW..we tried the Garlic parmesan & Friggin hot...the Friggin hot was spicy..so if you can't handle spicy.. don't get it...
Portions: are pretty big... you can get two different dishes and share among 3 people or maybe just order 2 dishes and have leftovers..but then again.. you're hearing this from a girl that doesn't eat a lot a lot...
Atmosphere: to go place for young adults/professionals, love how they have couches in the middle where you can eat and watch a game by yourself...check it out! :) Great place to just chat with friends and/or go alone to watch a game..
Customer Service: the service took awhile at times and wasn't the greatest, but the waitress was nice....
Costs: expect to spend around ~$15+ for a meal...
Parking: they do have a parking lot, but it gets packed so unless you get lucky with parking... you'll have to walk a little
I would come here again just to enjoy the atmosphere and sit in one of those couches while i watch a game.. :0
Went here with family that was staying at the Renaissance hotel up the street. The place is very nice. The booths have taps in the tables which is pretty cool. Our waitress was great, but the hostess was rude. We wanted to watch a baseball game, and we said can you put us at a table where we can watch the game. She then proceeded to put us in what I believe to be the only table without a good view of a TV. When we asked for a different table, she rolled her eyes at us and stormed off. When we finally sat down, we ordered some chips and guac and chicken nachos and a round of drinks. The chips were made in house, but they were very oily. Guac was good and it was a bit spicy. Nachos were ok. After a few drinks, we ordered some wings, a couple burgers, a salad, and a cup of minestrone. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. I liked the wings, but the blue cheese dressing wasn't very good. Overall, this place is a good place to have a drink and an appetizer, but I wouldn't put it at the top of my list.
Review Source:This place is pretty cool. Like, I'm surprised I like it so much, but I did.
There's a little bit of everything - table taps, big tables for groups, recliners in front of tvs, a patio, and regular 'ol booths.
I came here with a group of 18 on Saturday night. The service was out of this world. We had to deal with a really obnoxious group next to ours that was trying to treat the upstairs as their own private party room. While that may typically dampen the evening a bit, the manager and server handled it with grace and relative ease. The manager even brought us a round of free shots. Who here doesn't like free shots?
Beer selection is on the better side of average. Prices are very good. Food was far better than I was expecting for a "tavern," with different options to please all sorts of eaters (meat-and-potato, sushi lovers, salad eaters, etc.).
This place is a 30 minute drive from me, and I'll definitely be back. In fact, my husband tried to convince me to go Sunday night after my Saturday visit because now he wants to try it too!
Westwood Tavern...you had me with your sushi and beer, but your Mexican? Â No. Â Just no. Â The guacamole here is horrendous. Â It is covered in fresh jalapenos and is so hot it's not even enjoyable for people who don't like their mouths on fire whilst eating. Â I mean, sometimes I go for that, but there's a time and a place...this was not it. Â We also tried the taco dinner and it was AWFUL. Â Just awful. Â The meat was pulled and covered in sauce, the taco toppings were all just tossed on the plate with no attempt to make it look decent (usually I don't care about that kind of thing, but let's not make what I'm about to eat look like it fell on the floor and you just scooped it up and threw it back on there), and even the sides were overcooked and gross. Â I expected more from Westwood. Â To top it all off, the host stand staff had no idea what was going on, service was terrible, and per ushe, the place was covered in dbags. Â I MIGHT go here again for a quick sushi lunch, but I wouldn't come back for anything else...
Review Source:My personal favorite place to watch a sports game, particularly a Bulls game. Get there early if you want a good seat. This place is always packed, especially on the weekend. Service has never been anything less than outstanding. Food is great, love that Tavern Burger. Check out their drink specials to plan your night out!
Review Source:This place is a great restaurant to catch up on the latest sports! Â Not only can you have an enjoyable time watching the latest game, the food there is actually pretty damn good. Â You can go with the traditional american menu or have the fused Japanese food like Sushi accompany your meal.
Great service and fantastic food makes this place a go-to when you're in the Schaumburg area.
Think I found me a new go-to for a night out with girlfriends, or the boyfriend. it's the perfect place for beer or cocktails with a pretty good (But not crazy expensive) meal. I love that they do a range of sushi to sandwiches/burgers, and even salads. Â fries with my sushi? yes please! and they have dipping sauces for fries. =) perfect munchies while you wait for your food.
the atmosphere is pretty sweet, and i really like the different kinds of seating; tall tables, booths with the table-taps, lounge couch/chairs, you name it.
creative and delicious drinks. i had the maple caramel, which had crown maple, bailey's, rumchata, and chocolcate. Â i also had the mango salad that comes with a spicy tuna mango roll. YUM!
I love this place . Its very clean , wines reasonably priced, food including their sushi very good. I love their teriyaki wings! They have great patio with fireplace - huge TV screens with recliners. Can't go wrong at Westwood. Their bottled wine taste good and it's pretty cheap too. I think it's about $17 for a bottle. Not a good place for date or intimate setting - only fun for groups.
Review Source:Westwood is a great space, delicious cocktails and a lot of very good food choices. The upstairs is an awesome place to watch a game. Tons of big leather chairs and drink specials. Lots of huge TV's. Food has been above average every time we have been there. Good sushi, great flatbreads, outstanding monster-sized grilled cheese. A+ service every time. Definitely a cool place to check out if you haven't been here yet.
Review Source:I work nearby and have begun to stop here for lunch, so normally I would not rate a place that is just a lunch hop, but its impressed me enough to give ht the coveted WHAT R U WAITING 4 award so here we yelp:
After 3 lunch visits, and 1 quick dinner stop- I can say I am happily impressed with every choice, every meal, and a very well rounded menu, if you are near by there are many choices in chains but few with such variety unless you go to cheesecake factory.
The owners story from the waitstaff was that they cobbeled the menu together from some of their favs, so you can pick from some very good sushi choices ( and i dont like sushi but i did here) some great salads, some mex, and a very tasty chicken sandwich which was better than a chicken sandwich should taste? Â As strange as that comment sounds, it was that gooood.
I also have to comment on the sandwich my co worker got which i added to the photos, a grilled cheese that from a distance could pass for a small snowboard, its that wide it looked like a plank from floorboarding, but she said it was good and wow it will fill you for sure. Â They also sampled the banana pie for dessert which i had no room but said it was very well done, not a pie in the traditional sense but worth the try if that is your slice of pie.
If you're in the Woodfield area and need a bite to eat with your friends, go to Westwood. Ambiance and service is great. We had a group of 8 and requested separate checks, which seemed to be no issue for our server. Brownie points for you!
The fish tacos were aite. Fish was cooked well, but it wasn't out of this world. I tried a bite of my friend's huge grilled cheese sandwich and that was amazing. Go for the grilled cheese. You won't regret it.
Other recommendations (via our group):
- Chicken and Cranberry Salad
- Buffalo Chicken Salad
Nightlife is good. You can find some great people sitting at the bar to interact with.
Food & Drink on my radar:
Peach Bellini which is Peach Ciroc mixed with Pink Moscato!! Loved it!
Southwestern chicken salad - very tasty
Waitstaff is super friendly and attentive (oh and it doesn't hurt that one of them is 'famously' from a reality show that I watch!!!!).
Usually I am pretty laissez-faire (lazy) about cranking out reviews after checking out places for the first time... because its pretty lame that I cant submit a review via a phone app... unless I feel very strongly about the experience. Â Usually it's a good one.
Here? Not so much.
SERVICE
Went there the other night after work to meet up for a monthly GNO thing. Got there a little earlier than my friends, so walked in and up to the podium to get seated. About 4 people were standing there... none of them greeted me as I smiled and waited... t made eye contact with one girl until I got a "Did you need help?' Â
With a quizzical pause I responded with 'Do you have a table for 3? Preferably a corner booth...Is there a wait?" Â
No wait at all, should have been a clue.
FOOD
Fast forward 20 minutes. Food ordered... SOGGY was the theme... sliders (mediocre and soggy - good if you didn't have teeth or taste buds), flat bread - only decent item, $14 for 3 SOGGY scallops on 4 udon noodles, and 2 oz of soggy overdone veggies covered in some horrible sauce...more plate than food is okay, if the food is good. Got an offer for alternate, but I didn't see the point in getting more crappy food - dish should have been comped. Ugh.
According to pal, fish n chips - greasy and tasteless, she never puts condiments on food - was coating it... red velvet cheesecake took forever coming out... I joked that it was being defrosted. Guess what came out chilly-willy? Â That at least tasted better when it got closer to room temperature. Â Decaf coffee was okay... service was better in the dining area..
AMBIANCE
Music okay, but too loud to chat easily, the crowd blocking access to the restroom and exit was annoying. Not aesthetically pleasing, I liked it better when it was Pete Miller's.
The outdoor area might be nice in warmer weather, but the view of Garden Ridge and Costco would make me want to go over there for some better food first.
SUMMARY
Never going again. 90% of the food was horrible (Capital Grille has amazing seared scallops and 2 sides for $16 lunch special)... service was mediocre at best (aside from the fast busboys) and having to ask for refills on drinks... annoying.
I blame another friend for saying this place looked interesting. 8-/
I've been here twice now, and both times I've left with an overwhelming sense of, "Well, it was food."
Most recently I stopped here after landing at my hotel which was right across the street. I just wanted something easy and where I knew I could catch the game. So it was a convenient spot.
Upon walking in I was hit in the face with the volume from the TV. Maybe I'm just getting old (ok, well I know I'm getting old), but for the upscale sports bar vibe they're going for here the volume wasn't needed for a place that was 2/3 full at best.
Undeterred, I settled in at the bar. I will give the place credit as they do have a pretty good beer selection. I went for the Bells Christmas ale which was quite tasty.
I perused the menu for something that would allow me to say I had something "healthy" and went for the sloppy joe made with turkey on a pretzel bun. (Side note - this pretzel bun trend is one that needs to continue!) In any event, the sandwich was good but nothing overwhelming and a bit salty. The fries were good, but again - a bit too salty. I liked the visual of the huge salt flakes on the fries, but not the eventual result.
My final impression of this place is pretty simple - if you just need somewhere to stop and eat you could do worse. But you could also do a lot better.
I like their table taps, kind of a bummer if you end up at a table with beers you don't like since each table has different beers.
I was recommended the fish tacos by my friend and i am SO glad i listened!
the mahi mahi was delicious and i like that you can make the tacos yourself so you can put as much fish/beans/salsa/rice as you want. Since the portion is so generous, it's well worth how ever much it was (i dont remember)
if you come on a friday or saturday night, try to reserve a table, it gets pretty busy!
I came here last night with another person for dinner and drinks. Â We planned to meet at 7:00 p.m. without a reservation. Â Parking here is a little tricky, since the lot is shared with a massive Costco which. the week before Christmas, was packed with shoppers and the many restaurant patrons.
We were told it would be about a half hour for a table and that we were welcome to have a drink at the bar while we waited. Â Since there were so many people waiting for a table we decided to try the bar upstairs hoping it would be less crowded. Â It wasn't, but it was a nice atmosphere for conversation. Â We noticed time passong, and pretty soon we had been waiting for about 45 minutes. Â At closer inspection of the pager device we noticed it wasn't blinking the sinlge light like they usually do, signaling that they are charged and working. Â
So, being that we were starving, we went down to the lobby to see what the deal was. Â We were told that they tried to page us several times (though the pager never went off) and we subsequently lost our place in line. Â However, they seated us promptly and were very apologetic. Â
I ordered the Cranberry Chicken Salad which cosists of spring greens, grilled chicken, bleu cheese, dried cranberries, and candied pecans tossed in a light vinegarette. Â My date ordered fish tacos, which is a build-your-own kind of deal. Â My salad was massive, piled high on my plate. Â Everything tasted great. Â However, I would have liked more spring greens. Â The salad was mostly chicken, bleu cheese, and candied pecans and after finishing chunks of each with a little bit of the spring greens I was left with this pile of extras, about 1/3 of the salad. Â From what I heard the fish tacos were great. Â It came with three or four tortillas, a large filet of what I assume was grilled tilapia, salsa, guacamole, and sour cream with a side of rice and beans. Â
All in all service was great, the music choice wasn't terrible, the bathrooms were clean, and the food was good. Â Next time we will make a reservation, or make sure our pager works.
I would not have believed it was possible to improve on the BBQ Bacon Burger but Westwood has done it with their Baby Back Burger! Â A big beef patty topped with BBQ Baby Back Rib Meat, Chipotle Mayo, Cheddar Cheese & Onion Strings on a Pretzel Bun. Â Seriously one of the tastiest burgers I've ever had. Â Comes with delicious fries and costs $11. Â The only downside to this amazing burger is that I will probably never order anything else from their menu to find out if there are other items just as worthy of praise.
The other people I went with also ordered food, and seemed fine, but to be honest I was not paying attention. Â My burger was too good.
This place was okay, came for an early dinner and was seated upstairs. I had a some sort of southwest salad, I don't remember exactly, but it was pretty good. My husband had a burger which he said was decent, but nothing great. The service was fine. I would probably come back here to watch a football game or something as the bar area was huge and they have tons of TVs.
Overall, the food and service was good, not great. Will be trying other area restaurants before we go back here again.
BEST BURGERS EVER!!!!!! My boyfriend talked about these burgers for 2 days. Great service, great waitress. We had a party of 12 and we only waited 7 minutes on a Saturday night for a table. The waitress even gave everyone their own seperate bill, without us asking. My boyfriend and I will definitely be back.
Review Source:This was actually a nice bar find for Schaumburg. I haven't been in this building since it was a steakhouse ages ago.
I stopped by with a few friends following an Improv show at Woodfield. There definitely is not enough seating, but I liked the atmosphere, and the prices seemed fair.
It wasn't too loud, and I will probably be back with more friends the next time I come into town. It's definitely a step up from the Fox & Hound though.
For a restaurant/bar-ish type place, it features a lot (nice private dining room, upstairs sports bar). They accommodated our large group well (30+ people) and gave decent service. The guy kept screwing things up though since it was a birthday, got the candles wrong, forgot stuff... Overall though it was a good place to eat and celebrate.
Tips:
- Try the grilled cheese. It's probably the biggest grilled cheese I've ever had, and best I've had in years.
- The Chicago Burger... eh pass up on this one. It's super meaty and not very tender.
- Decent alcoholic drinks selection if you're in the mood.
- There's an upstairs and and downstairs, but the upstairs is more of a sporty bar type space.
- It's right next to Wildberry Cafe (great breakfast place)
Since I am beyond my college years, I don't really like bars that destroy my eardrums anymore. Westwood provided me with a good place to relax (quite comfortably) and enjoy conversation with friends.
The drink selection was extensive as was the food selection. It was interesting to see that they actually had a pretty good sushi selection as well.
I'd say it was a place worth considering it you like a comfortable place to converse, enjoy a few drinks and maybe watch a few football games. It definitely has a more "grown up," feel to it than some of the bars downtown.
I came here on a Tuesday during the lunch period and seating was pretty quick. The ambiance is nice as it's a bar environment with a second floor with lots of space but also has booths and tables that cater towards a lunch / dinner crowd.
The waitress was quick in getting our orders and drinks. However, I had ordered a diet coke/pepsi and multiple times, she brought out regular coke/pepsi for me. I started off with the wing appetizer of mild wings. It comes with 8 wings and are of medium size. They are pretty good for an appetizer so I'd definitely try it again.
For my main course, I ordered the filet mignon tacos. The filet mignon came out medium rare which was awesome, but the taco shells are these soft, wet corn style tacos which I wasn't a huge fan of. The rest of the dish contained beans, onions, tomatos, and a salsa that has a little bit of a kick which was great.
It's a decent place for lunch, the food doesn't amaze you, but the place is nice to meet a couple of people and still have some TVs to watch. You'll probably spend $10-20 on lunch (but they do have some nice drink specials then).
A group of us went to Westwood Schaumburg to have a friend reunion.
I was the last to arrive. It's a good thing, because my friends were able to fill me in on the drinks and food which is the only information I received all night.
I ordered a straight vodka martini with premium vodka. The blue cheese in the olives was like caulk so I skipped them. Drink two comes: well vodka, drowning in olive juice. I almost spit it up because I was not prepared.
Drink three comes: Fruit flavored vodka, still gross olives. Wanna know what a fruit vodka martini tastes like with olives in it? I didn't.
We had to consistently get up and go clear across the restaurant to find someone to order drinks, food, get condiments, etc.
I only ordered the caesar salad because I was worried. Rightfully so. I tried some of the other things at the table and as they weren't terrible, I was looking forward to my salad.
When the food comes the color was no normal, but I figured it must be a fresh take on the classics. I took one bite and it literally fell out of my mouth. I am thinking the dressing went bad? Not too sure. I pushed it aside and ordered something else.
It never came.
I finally gave up, and asked for the check. My uneaten acrid salad in front of me, beside my fruit-olive martini still full. Did she ask if everything was ok? Nope.
I was really disappointed. I live in the city and I was excited for something not owned by Darden for when I visit the burbs. I hate to say that next time, Ill go the safe route and go to Chillies.
I had my in-laws Golden Anniversary party here. Believe it or not, they have incredible party rooms upstairs! We had the party in the Fireplace Room which seated all 37 of us quite spaciously. They were very accomodating with all of our requests, we had 4 tables (8 seats) 1 round cake table, 1 candy table, 2 desert tables and a tv at no extra charge for a slideshow. The service was outstanding! "Captian Mario" was our go to guy for that day and he was great. Everyone was super friendly and were not annoyed with having to work around little kids running around all over the place. They even let us use the elevator to bring our supplies up and let the guests of honor use the elevator too!
The Food was very good. We had spinach and artichoke dip and brushetta for appetizers. Both were very fresh and tasty. Ceasar salad, Chicken Madria, Beef Stew style beef, Asparagus & red skin mashed potatos for lunch. Â Everything was very perfectly seasoned and had tons of flavor. There was food overload! We even got to take a bunch home.
This place well deserves its 5 stars and I'm looking forward to our next event there. I need to make up a reason to go.
I also had lunch downstairs and the food was fantastic! The service in this place is out of this world!
$4 Bloody Marys -- made with tomato juice and tabasco, if you ask -- Can't. Be. Beat.
I'm a huge fan.
Our server's name was Emily, and she made some of the most wicked Bloodys I have ever had.
The atmosphere here is really nice. I have no idea what took me so long to set foot inside! There is great outdoor seating, dozens of TV screens inside with everything from NASCAR to college football, and an upstairs area where I didn't go but would guess there are pool tables or other standard bar fare.
I didn't order any food, but my friend got the crab tower. The chips were meh, and the crab itself was really bland. Had it come with salsa, I think it would have been a knockout, but the way it was served just did nothing for me. I'd never pay $11 for that.
Regardless, I'd come back for more bloodys and bloodys only because they're bloody good!
I've been here on several different occasions and each time it has been pleasantly good! For the times that I've been here, the staff and waitresses have been great. The food is good - nothing mind blowing, but good. Heard the sushi is good, so I got to try that next time.
The real winner about this place is how spacious it is. It has comfortable seating, wide open spaces and lots of TVs to watch the game on. It's no claustrophobic box like other bars but it can get pretty crowded.
This may be the coolest sports bar ever. Â No joke they probably have like 100 TVs in here.
For a place like this, you don't expect much past the drinks. Expect it. The food is fantastic. The nachos are mountain high with this marinated pulled chicken that's positively delicious.
My buddy really freaked me out after the nachos though when he randomly ordered cornbread. "It's caramelized and tastes like French toast," he said. Â I was like, "Okay *eyeroll*. Whatever you want, wierdo." Â It was totally random, and it was also totally awesome. It is French toast-ish and it's delicious with this maple butter. You just have to try it probably.
We split a burger and then some hot wings. Wings were okay, but the burger was REalllll good.
Did I mention you can't turn your head without seeing a TV with sports on it, and/or some serious 'talent'? Sorry I can't help but mention it. Â It's a really cool place and some seemingly cool people come here. Well, mostly cool, they show UFC, so UFC-ish wannabees show up in their shirts that are ultra tight, and not in the cool sense. Like, "I'm such a badass, so I wear Affliction, REallll tight." Â No your not a badass, you look like an idiot and normal people are smirking at you.
The tap beer selection could be more expansive. Damn, how brat-ish am I to say that about a place with 16 on tap? Â Oh well, I've been spoiled and I'm good with it. I just think for a place this massive, you can't be hard up for space, so it wouldn't be hard to double that number. Â
Looks like some people have had less than good service. Our girl was really nice and was around often enough for us to snag her over for another order. Â It ebbs and flows in places like this I'm sure, since the waitresses are not, they're 'models', I'm certian.
It could be that I wasn't expecting much, or didn't know what to expect, but I really had a good time here. We chilled an people watched in an upstairs booth. Â The drinks are cheap compared to the city (obviously, they better be, it's way out in Schaumberg), but it makes you feel good to pay less than $5 for a really good beer. And, the food was honestly really really good. I don't find myself in the NW quadrant very often, but I'd make a trek out here to spend a Saturday watching football for sure. Â In fact, I probably will.
Wrong temperature drink especially the beer. Pretty sad considering they are a tavern.
Waitress had no idea about their alcohol menu.
Had some special that was bbq duck or pork. I don't even remember that is how disguising it was and how little I ate from it.
The sweet potatoes fries were good but the regular fries tasted old.
Red Velvet Cheesecake was dry and not tasty except maybe the cream cheese frosting. I advice them to go to Cheesecake Factory and stock up on the desserts.
I will say the TVs are pretty awesome to watch a game on.
And please please if you are having a baby shower.....do it during the day when you know there isn't drunk fools walking around with yo-yo feelings regarding a very special Bulls game. I am just saying. Better yet, just don't do it at Westwood Tavern. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
I went here after work one night, a Monday I think, with a girlfriend after doing some damage at Home Goods. Â The best part about the place is that it's kind of a meat market and if you like to make up stories about the people you see and entertain yourself by trying to figure out who's going home with who- this spot is for you! Â
My friend and I sipped on the special priced margaritas ($5 I think and tasty) and watched this hot younger leggy brunette try to make her older boyfiend/hub jealous by flirting with a bunch of dudes. Â It was a good time. Â Oh, the fish tacos were very good and it was a huge portion. Â You don't really need to order chips and guac if you're getting that, you won't finish. Â
I'll be back to enjoy the outdoor patio- it was totally packed the last time I was there. I hope the bartenders don't ignore chicks like I read in some of the other reviews- my friends won't stand for that nonsense.
I WANT to love Westwood Tavern but the two times I've been here for dinner I was only impressed with the decor.
The service both times was minimal. Â Not rude but not attentive at all. Â Each time the food was merely okay, not the quality I would expect from such a place.
On our last visit I tried the Chinese Salad which had chicken in it.  The chicken was so salty I honestly thought upon taking  few bites they had accidentally put ham in it instead of chicken!  I had my husband try it and he, too, thought it was ham.  The plum dressing was also very salty and I ate only a quarter of the salad in all. Â
The "W Punch" which was the $5 drink special was tasty & strong, at least.
It's a huge restaurant with a very open layout so expect it to be quite noisy in here.
I'd go back only if I was with someone who REALLY wanted to eat here for some reason.
Been here a few times, and I have never left disappointed. Food and drinks are mostly inexpensive. Â Every time I've been there the drinks have been made on the stronger side. Â I recommend the guacamole, it's amazing. although I don't like sushi that is all I ever see people eating.
Almost every time I've been there it's been for a birthday event, and the waitress has always given free drinks to the person celebrating their birthday! (always a nice fact to know, lol!)
A solution for all those days I want sushi, Mexican and Italian at the same time. It was a hot day, but the air conditioning inside was so cold we opted to have lunch on the patio instead. Turned out to be a great experience. The area could have been a bit better kept though--I had to keep stepping around someone's big greasy sheet of parchment paper next to my chair.
The food was decent with good portions. Sadly no veggie entrees, so I ordered from the appetizers. I wasn't a fan of the guacamole, which was spicy and just not bursting with much of a fresh avocado flavor. Very generous portion of tasty seasoned chips though. The margarita flatbread was great. I enjoyed the veggie maki, but wish they'd use more mango, as I could barely taste it in some of the pieces. With a good bit more of the mango sweetness to balance things out, this roll would be amazing!
Somehow the mojito was terrible. Was bland and super packed with ice, which soon resulted in a limey water. I got it with the watermelon flavor which turned out to be completely artificial-tasting.
The service was good. We may return on a Wednesday to give their drinks another chance and check out the evening ambiance.
Okay, I went here to celebrate a co-worker's birthday this past Monday at lunchtime.
I was astonished by the quality of  my food! Â
It looked like your standard suburban sports bar, so the menu was a bit surprising. Sushi and Mexican food with a nice selection of salads.
There was one thing on the specials menu that really grabbed me: Pulled BBQ duck topped with a slice of melted Gouda on a pretzel roll. Â I just HAD to try it. Oh my yummy goodness! Â Awesome choice. I was particularly happy to be able to substitute grilled asparagus instead of seasoned fries in a half-hearted attempt to pretend to eat healthily.
The server was very good about keeping our soft-drinks full, bringing new ones before we even finished the first one.
The place had a nice sound system and since we were sitting on the other side of the bar, it looked like they had an extremely impressive selection of alcohol.
I officially deem Westwood to be the go-to spot for a night out of boozin' in the Schaumburg area. Well, that is if a night of Clubbin' at Barleycorns or Heat//Bamboo Room//whatever it's called now, is not your thing.
I had my latest b-day shindig at Westwood last month. Since I couldn't confirm on a number of people coming, I didn't want to pay for a bar package or rent a private room, which they do have, for people to bail last minute. ((For all  of you January babies - you know what I'm talking about. People are burned out after the holidays or there will be a blizzard of epic proportions and friends/fam tend to flake out last minute. It happens.)) I reserved a table for 12 in the bar instead. The woman on the phone was happy to meet my request, which somewhat surprised me, given how busy Westwood can get on weekends.
Drinks are average in price and you won't have to guess if there's booze in it. I would however, avoid the martinis. They are sickeningly sweet. My pancreas cringes at the thought of one. For all of you beer fans, they have a fairly extensive menu of domestic, foreign, and craft beer. As for the menu items, they may look all fancy pants, but in reality the food is average. I wouldn't go out of my way to have dinner here, but it beats cheap shitty pizza or fried mozzarella sticks. I'll take the slider trio, lodge cornbread, or pulled chicken nachos over that any day!
What I love most is the atmosphere. You won't find teeny-boppers with fake ID's running around, a bunch of ravers//clubbers, or your gram and gramps. It's a great spot for those in their mid to late 20's on up. It's chill. It's relaxed. And it's still a shit ton of fun.
Westwood is hoppin' on the weekends, that's for sure. If you're looking to relax a little more, you have your choice of hanging out upstairs at the bar, or in the recliners circling around the various sports games around the TVs. I find the real party to be at the downstairs bar, or in the booths with the table taps. Yes, that's right. There are a handful of booths that have 2 beer tappers ((with 2 different kinds of beer)) right at your table. Thanks to their nifty measuring system, you serve yourself  and charged by the ounce at the end of the night! In the summertime, you also have the option of hanging out at the outdoor bar and patio area...which is great on those warm, summer nights.
If you're out in the 'burbs and looking for a trendy place to go ((Yes, I know that feels impossible)) check out Westwood. You won't be disappointed.
