On our way home from a weekend of trails and we happened by this little place. A cheerful waitress greeted us, a friendly local passed on some info of things to go see in the area. The menu is straightforward and consistent. I ordered the honey stung chicken, easily the best I have EVER had. Another from the group ordered the Monte Cristo, which was quartered to make is easier to dip into the local maple syrup  It was good, who needs ketchup haha. The last of our group ordered the hamburger platter, a good sized burger, home made bun, smothered in gravy on top of a bed of fries. All three were winners and overall this place is perfect to get you filled up for the road or trail ahead.  $35 with three drinks.
Review Source:Nearly annual week-long camping trips with dear ol' dad end with a decadent and indulgent feast a l'Italia in this somewhat innocent, diner-looking Italian restaurant in the middle of Tupper Lake. We first discovered this place many many years ago when I was younger. The place was at a smaller location and we were always guessing when they would be open, since the manager (and head cook) never laid down a solid schedule for the restaurant and would close and open at his own leisure. Irritating as that was, the food was good enough to justify it. The eatery still operates in this way as far as I know, since we were turned away last year, much to our great disappointment.
Mouth-watering Italian dishes await he who walks into this excellent restaurant, along with friendly service and charm. The clams are to die for and the pasta dishes are wholesome and generous. This place lays waste to another Italian restaurant just down the road, that although good, is part of a chain and simply doesn't measure up. We will be coming here again and again and again.
We found ourselves in Tupper Lake to visit The Wild Center and needed lunch, so we stopped in. My fish 'n' chips were very satisfying: fish moist and tender on the inside, crispy on the outside, and the fries were good ... with the skins still on (that's the way I like 'em). Oh, and the coleslaw was nice and tangy. (I know my coleslaws; I am quite the aficianado.) My husband had the Greek flatbread sandwich, which consisted of a grilled chicken breast with mayo, Romaine, and kalamata olives. Also tasty. This is just a nice homey place with good food. Don't hesitate to stop in.
Review Source:the address listed now is correct.
if you happen to be in tupper lake and have a hankering for fish and chips or a fish sandwich- indulge yourself!
ignore the decor, be amused at the toilet paper dispenser (in the ladies room- photo coming soon to a yelp near you), and have a good sandwich, you won't regret it!
Originally located on a heavily traveled intersection (as of 7/08, Yelp has the old address listed), this local favorite moved into a new, larger location in a different area of town after the chef suffered from a heart attack. Â
The chef survived, and the new digs feel a bit more woodsy-contemporary now, but we've been assured that it's the same chef who cooked in the old location. Â The hot sandwiches and burgers are fantastic in their utter simplicity. Â The food just clicks with the taste buds. Â And the prices are in line with the local economy - i.e., dirt cheap.
