I just stopped in to check it out. Â Not much selection for food to go. Â Some interesting artisanal cheeses and some sauces. Â I bought a veggie sandwich and it was pretty good. Â I bought a pomegranate tea and it was disgusting. Â It tasted like lipstick. Â I think this is a good place for wine and I might get some food when I come back for that.
Review Source:I like this unassuming, snob-free wine bar. Â They have a pretty decent selection of wines, very friendly staff, and a whole lot of space. Â This isn't a super fancy wine bar, but to me that is what makes it perfect. Â The snacks are good too. Â What I really appreciate is how many wines by the glass they have!
I have heard you can host events here, and really it's a great space for that, quite large.
Coming from Indiana and having been to a few wine bars over the years, the Wine Guyz is by far my favorite. Ambience is chill, selection is great, food is fresh and simple, the owner (Dan) is a very nice guy who will talk to you about wine without even a hint of arrogance. Down to earth and knowledgeable, the staff is very kind and attentive. Â The vibes here are just great. Â I really can't say enough about it. Thanks Mr. Dan for continuing to provide a great place to enjoy wine!
Review Source:This is a great social resource in La Crosse. Â It is big enough to accommodate large groups, yet small enough that people don't have to yell over a crowd. Â If you are a wine drinker, you will be impressed with the bottle selection. Â They have good wines from California as well as New World and Old World wines. Â The best deal is to buy a bottle and pay the nominal corkage fee ($7). Â You can also pay by the glass if you prefer sampling. Â
I think one thing some people might not realize is that their beer selection is impressive too. Â In this case, they could be called, "Wine (and beer) Guyz" Â but that might get too long for a sign outside the door. Â
The food is uninspired if you ask me. Â It is bread and cheese dependent (sandwiches and pizza). Â With such good wine, it's a shame they can't have better food because good food and wine is a synergistic experience! Â Add good friends and it's virtually zen! Â But it also makes the place approachable in a place like La Crosse and probably keeps their operating costs down. Â
The other thing about the place is that the service is sometimes spotty. Â Sometimes my glass is empty for long periods. Â I like their hands-off attitude, but I wouldn't mind getting a refill more often, and their bottom line probably wouldn't either!
Also, they are closed Sundays.
Wine Guyz is both a great wine bar and a great wine shop. Â It's classy but not intimidating.
The shop has a large selection of bottles, cheese, and other wine-related items, including a section for Wisconsin wines, and everyone working there seems to really know their stuff.
The wine bar's selection of wines by the glass is truly impressive, and I loved the tap system they have set up keep the bottles fresh. Â For happy hour they offer generous pours of two-for-one glasses of wine.
Love Wine Guyz. Â We are lucky to have it in La Crosse.
The place opened back in 2005. Â
One wall is lined with bottles of wine that you can take home; on the other side is a wine bar that you can belly up to. Â In between, there are large and small tables to accommodate big and small groups.
The owner (half-owner actually) is a guy named Dan who is maybe the best thing about this place. Â He is very welcoming and positive, and remarkably good at remembering people's names.
