After my initial poor experience here I didnt think I would return, however, my friend ended up having a reserved party there so I had to attend. They definitley did redeem themselves and they let my friend reserve a party for around 20 for free as long as we spent a certain amount of money...which we did. They even had appetizers and dessert provided but I believe that cost extra. All in all a much nicer second experience and I will return to have lunch there sometime.
Review Source:When here on a Tuesday night, their special for the evening: half of all bottles under 100 dollars. We had the Ateca Old Vine Granache 2010 vintage, absolutely fantastic! We sat on their outdoor patio, which sits right along west michigan avenue of downtown Kalamazoo. we also order this lovely little cheese plate of manchego. By far one of the most relaxing evening I've had in a long time. I will definitely be revisiting!
Review Source:This was a nice, quiet place for "grown ups" where you can drink wine and talk to your friends. The decor is nice with several groupings of sofas that are widely placed so you feel like you have some privacy.
Our service was prompt and not intrusive. We didn't test the knowledge of our waitress since we knew what we wanted. The food was good, not great, but good enough to eat with the drinks.
I would definitely go back here.
Really great ambiance, okay wine list (be prepared for 300% mark-up - meaning that you'll pay 3 times the price of what you would get from buying a bottle and drinking it at home). Â The menu, while not inventive, is well executed. Â We had the mushroom crostini, crab cakes, and tomato/basil salad - all very good and a perfect lighter meal that went well with our wine flights. Â My only complaint is that the big leather seats paired with the low coffee tables with hardly any clearance underneath, make it awkward to sit around the table and eat your food. Â Aside from that, I would definitely come back if I lived in Kalamazoo.
Review Source:Every time my wife and I have guests from out of town, we always take them to the wine loft to start any night out. Â Order the baked Brie (superb), and with their large selection of wine by the glass or bottle, it is never disappointing, always classy, but friendly. We love it.
You would think this would be obvious, but it is not a good place for kids.
I ordered a bottle of champagne here, and our cat-suit donning waitress blew the cork and spilled half the bottle on the floor. There was no offer to replace that which was lost. I was flabbergasted at her sheer ignorance.
If this place wants to spill half of a bottle of champagne on the ground, and act like nothing happened, then I will not bother telling them what is wrong with their establishment.
With this sort of service, I would be happy if this place goes out of business.
This place was totally great and I hope that Kzoo can support it. Â The atmosphere channeled the spirit of city wine bars and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Â The prices were a little high for Kzoo with the small plates that were served, but they weren't unreasonable. Â I'm really glad that there is another great downtown option for a night out.
We ordered the ceviche, the caprese, and the portobello ravioli. Â All were great, although it's hard to hard to really judge the menu because it is seasonal and changed frequently. Â The only advice that I would give the owners is that the tables can be small for food, so staggering the dishes a little bit more would make for easier dining.
