This is a hidden gem in the Round Rock area! I ended up coming across this place as I did some shopping next door and had always had the intention of going in and I had my chance the other night. Its a cute small shop in that shopping area and they have a good selection of wine to drink/taste and to buy. The owners are great! Extremely nice and very attentative to my needs. They listen to what kind of wine I usually like and drink and work their magic around that.
The night I went, its was crowded is a good way. Everyone was singing and laughing in such good cheer! What more can you ask for? They do serve beer and food but not liquor. I do enjoy that they have small plates of food and a cheese tray. Its nothing crazy in preperation for food and pairs up great with their wine selection.
What I enjoyed the most is their flights. The flights are basic samples of some of the wines you have chose. On the glasses they put numbers around them that pair up with what your drinking and its a very inexpensive way to try out wines. Its great for people who are getting into it. I can't help but continue to come back over and over again. The owners are fantastic and the crowds are always warming.
This place is a gem! Seriously...love it! I found this place on accident one day while leaving Target. Don't be thrown off by the fact that it is in a strip center next to Target. Once inside, you feel as if you are in a trendy and cozy downtown wine bar. The staff is all friendly, and the owners are equally as nice and down to earth. We just joined their wine club as well and love it! For $40 (I think) you get to come to one of their wine club dinners which includes a light dinner for two with live music, samples of their 3 featured wines for two, two bottles to take home, and discounts!
Review Source:Shhh it's a secret hidden in plain sight: Â Tucked beside a Sally Beauty Supply store, between Target and Michaels, in a strip mall, at a huge intersection of I-35 and 45, in Round Rock. Â If you blink you'll miss it. Â You will be missing out on a charming, unpretentious little casual wine bar with a great rotating selection and good prices.
It's cozy and modern inside with a good amount of seating and a nice bar. Â There's a small area at the front for live music in the evenings and when I've been there the music hasn't been too overpowering. Â Just grab a tall bar table in the back if you want to chat during a live show. Â
The wine by the glass selection seems to change weekly. Â I usually try a flight- 3 wines for $2-3 dollars a glass to get a taste of what's good. Â The wines are actually numbered so if I'm intimidated by a pronunciation I can just order "number 2" without feeling judged. Â Some would see this as dumbing down. Â I see this as being kind to wine dorks like me. Â Each wine in the flight is served in a small carafe with a little numbered bead on a cord to label each wine. This is PERFECT for me because I have the worst memory in the history of ever so I can keep looking up on the menu what I'm drinking and try to recognize the flavors given in the description. Â
Wine-loving dog owners have a little patio area on the front sidewalk. Â Sometimes there are even special treats for the puppies! Â It gets a little breezy though so batten down the hatches things will blow away. Â There's a really cool pyramid heater out there for chilly days and nights.
The food is usually secondary to me since I'm there for the wine! Â But I have tried the fruit and cheese plate - which had some nice little surprises like sage honey and a gluten-free option. Â I usually go for the 3 for $10 olive oil/balsamic vinegar sampler. Â The menu looks great though I keep meaning to try it out. Â
It's ironic that I can go there often because it's easy driving practice for me and yet it's a good place for me to drink wine. Â Cruel fate indeed for this duchess to be.
Really , Really love this place. Â We have been coming here for years and were nervous but hopeful with the new owners taking over. Â We have been very happy with the results. Â Â The great staff has remained and that was a huge benefit. Â The menu has been going through some changes, but the additions have been unique and delicious. Â There seems to be new homemade specials all the time and we have enjoyed them all. Â The wine selection is still top notch and has great value. Â
The great atmosphere and live entertainment continue and you will find us here usually once a week. Â Again, don't let the strip mall fool you. Â Wine Sensation is a gem and a must go for anyone in the area who loves a good glass of wine and some delicious food. Â Tell them "the Duke" sent ya. Â :-)
one star for service
four/five stars for the wine and food
four/five stars for the aesthetics of the place
I have been going to this location for almost two years...loved loved LOVED it when it was vino 100 (5++++ stars). my most recent visit in the previous months was disappointing, however. I took my best friend here to show her the place and spoke so highly of it. We were there in the late afternoon, the only customers. The young lady bartender greeted us and we picked out some wines and my friend and  I got our gab on and looked over the food menu. That's when it started to go downhill...Another person entered the bar and started to chat with the bartender...very loudly, obnoxiously, and disruptively to our experience. The bartender stopped paying attention to us and engaged in the conversation with this male friend who blabbered on about his lawyer and child support  and court dates which completely ruined our girls afternoon out together. We waited patiently for nearly 15-20 min for the bartender to remember we were there, since we were staying to order some food despite this buzz kill conversation happening next to us. What also bothered me was that the owner was there washing windows and tidying up and did not seem to notice this was going on.. we finished our wine, nibbled on our pita chips and hummus, but have not found a reason to go back yet since we recall our last visit so unfavorably.
When Noelle told me that there was a wine bar next to the Target near her neighborhood, I was in disbelief. A wine bar. In a Target strip mall. We had to check it out.
The place is ADORABLE! Walking in, you're transported to somewhere not in a Target strip mall. Someplace far far away from the hustle and bustle of the I35 corridor. Being late on a Friday afternoon, the place was pretty empty and, as a matter of fact, we were the only patrons for a little while. There are a lot of choices for seating, including a pretty long bar and several high top tables. We opted for a couple comfy chairs in a corner and were quickly attended to.
Wine selection (by the glass) is decent and amazingly inexpensive. If you don't know what kind you like, a flight option is available for around $2 per sample, prices are noted on the menu. Live music on the weekends (evidenced by signage) could, perhaps, make this tiny space really loud. I hope that they take that into consideration on those nights! There are also food options, but we didn't try them this time around. Next time, for sure.
And there will be a next time.
My new favorite! The atmosphere is so nice and laid-back, the wine is fabulous, and the food... oh my, it's amazing! I've never seen a wine bar with such a unique and delicious menu. They have great prices too! We recently had a company meeting in their private reserve room, and it was just perfect! I am such a fan and will definitely be a frequent customer!
Review Source:My wonderful, rowdy girl friends and I celebrated my birthday at this delightful wine bar. Â I was so impressed with the wine selections, delicious menu and personalized service. Â I had the truffle mac and cheese (to die for) and my date enjoyed the Mediterranean flat bread - yum! We also had the cheese plate and another of our guests really enjoyed the Caprese Salad and bacon-wrapped dates. Â They had a fun duo on keyboard and the atmosphere was perfect - it was a very busy Friday night but still laid back and relaxing. There's a super-cute library room in the back - perfect for noisy girl friends to cut up and cackle for hours. This is now on our favorites list - we will be back!
