Not so much a fan of the "Blur" which is the bar side, but you can't beat the quick delicious and cost effective food in the cafe. Go in Tuesday through Saturday when Max and Lisa are holding down the fort and you might even catch Max singing along to the radio in the kitchen.
Pro Tip: Bring cash. They don't take cards. (Though, there is an ATM in the bar.)
A dive bar with great local flavor. This is most definitely the sort of place that hung an effigy of a spotted owl with a target on it in the 90's. Bartender, I assume the owner was nice enough and even gave my friend a 2 for one because it was her birthday.
They have a pretty beat up pool table but the cues are straight and it only costs 25 cents! And people are right, the drinks here are strong! I ordered a whiskey water and it was about 3.5 oz whiskey and a table spoon of water.
Did hear one patron chastising his friend for playing "boogly-woogly music"- he wasn't too happy when I played lupe fiasco's "all black everything"- fucking racists.
The "Blur" as locals call it.. As in your eyes get blurry from 2 of the stiff/cheap drinks that they pour. Be careful there as the crowd can be rough. Seems like guys think they came to a boxing ring to fight when they go there. They also tend to get beligerent after a few stiff drinks.
Also, watch it...Local police sit and wait for you to walk out, drive off, and give you a DUI. The cafe on the side of the lounge has great food and great prices. Cool local spot in GP with pool tables, juke box, and video lotto games..worth a try.
I've been going to this bar for years while I grew up in GP and returned to visit Mom & Dad. Last year I just moved back from Washington DC. It's nice to be home again! As Elena stated, the "bartenders are lifers". But what happened to DJ? The guy with the appron Willy: takes way too long to order, unless your his friend, short tempered and pretty much as drunk as the crowd. The hawaiian shirt guy Dennis: bull in s China Shop. Broke 2 glass in 15 min. I ate lunch in there one day a while back and he had his back turned to the bar watching TV. People who wanted change, to order something, whatever had to call his name. One guy wanted to jukebox turned up and he just said "NO". Turned around and continued watching TV. He was so busy in his little world, you would of thought he was in his house sitting on the couch. I had gone back on a Saturday night with a few of my girl friends I had grown up with in GP. When I walked into the bar it seemed strange. Not as I remembered when people were laughing, milling around, smiles on faces. I asked one of my friends, "Where's DJ? I thought he worked on weekends?" He always made me laugh and smile. I would ask him if he had a joke and he always had a funny one to tell. Another thing I liked about him, was he would always look you in the eye when he spoke to you. He seemed to have a level head even when things got out of control. And boy o'boy, would they sometimes. Happy, professional, handsome, alert, sincere and boy could he make a great sour drink. I asked one of my freinds what happend to him? They had said he left a couple years ago. One of my friends told me he had met a real nice girl. They told me they don't go to the "Blur" as much as they use to on weekends because the last time one of them had a problem with the "Fat" mexican bartender. She said he looked like he was "on something" and was "so rude". She avoided him for our drink order. He gave her a dirty look when she was at the bar. And I'm suprised she didn't say something to him. So we stayed for one drink and went to Medford. We won't be back anytime soon.
I'm writing this to say "THANK YOU DJ!!" For the laughs, your freindship and wonderful conversations. I know whatever you do in life, you'll be successful!! Your just one of those types of people!! Wish you the best if you ever read this and I hope you found a nice girl!!! We will miss you!!

PS: Remember the lady in the bad hat? lol!!
The Blur. Â This is the place to go if you want a good stiff drink. Â The bartenders are good at what they do and seem to care about their customers (me!). Â Young people, old people, working class, retired, they all mix together nicely. Â Poker machines and one pool table frequented by a few pretty good players. Occasional bar brawls round out an evening at the bur.
