My girlfriend and I chose this place for our Valentine's Day dinner. We arrived around 7:30pm with no reservations and had a wait of about 30-35 minutes, which is acceptable for the occasion. While waiting in the bar, I ordered a mixed drink that was extremely watered down. I also noticed at this time that the bartender appeared to have had a few too many himself.
After being seated at our table, I tried to order another drink, but it was watered down also. We then ordered our dinner, which consisted of prime rib with garlic mashed and filet mignon with a baked potato.
When our food arrived, the prime rib came with a baked potato, instead of the garlic mashed that was ordered. It was explained that they just ran out of mashed potatoes. Instead of coming out to advise of this, our waitress assumed a baked potato would be okay.
Both the steak and prime rib were cooked to order, but the filet wasn't very tender and didn't have much flavor. When my girlfriend asked for steak sauce, the waitress brought her a bottle that had three drops in it. When my girlfriend advised the waitress of this and asked for more, the waitress removed the bottle and never returned.
While we were eating our meals, both parties on each side of us received entrees that they did not order and had to be returned.
During the course of this evening, there were long periods of time where we didn't see our waitress. Overall the service was poor at best. This will be the first and only time I will ever go to this restaurant!!
Sooo decided to come here for our Valentines dinner. I was pretty apprehensive due to the previous reviews but dove in anyway.
We came early so it was nice and quiet. Started with the bruschetta which was very good but a bit big for an appetizer. Â We both got the steak at $29.95 a piece. Sooo glad we didn't order the steak and lobster!!!!
*The "garlic" mashed potatoes were instant without even a hint of garlic
* The gravy was either canned or powdered
*Green beans were good but nothing more- not fresh and probably frozen.
*And finally the steak, done to order but really no flavor and they chose to top it with canned mushrooms. Â
Just sad... I could have done a better job at home for a lot less.
Up side..... Lori did a great job serving us.
Sorry folks, not coming back and not recommending....
I went here with my husband and father-in-law for Sunday Brunch. The indoor ambiance is very dim and dark so we opted to sit out on the patio. We waited for over 20 min before I went inside to tell the hostess we were ready to order. The place was so busy the hostess forgot to tell someone we were seated outdoors. The server apologized for the mis-communication and promptly took our order. The brunch was approx $20/plate but it included your entree, country potatoes, biscuits and gravy, and complimentary champagne. The food came out shortly after we ordered. My french toast was yummy. Our father-in-law said his chicken fried could have been better but my husband enjoyed his. Overall the food was good and there was a lot of it for the price. I'll rate the place a 3, because of the early mishap with the wait but overall the service was very friendly.
Review Source:Stopped in here after going to see the Sandhill Cranes at the Isenberg Preserve. It was my first time but my running buddy had been here before when it was a different restaurant. Our waitress told us that the chef from the previous restaurant has returned so if you're a fan, you may know what to expect. It was a very slow Monday night and only one other table was occupied.
I ordered Chicken Marsala with extra veggies and no starch and he a half order of baby back ribs. Both meals were well prepared, tasty and generous proportions. The rolls served with the meal didn't appear to be anything special so I passed. My veggies were plenty of summer squash and cooked just right. I had a Mexican meatball soup (Albondigas) that was interesting with small slivers of flour tacos for garnish.
The wine on display was from Watts Winery and I would have liked a glass but they only sold it by the bottle so I had to opt for something a little less interesting.
Our waitress was friendly and talkative and the different courses were served in a timely manner. We enjoyed our meal here and will return.
Nice attentive staff and tasty fries. I ordeedr the big W.C burger. Â I think that the price should be lowered from 8.99 to $7.99 to already include cheese (maybe not the 8.99 price with $1 extra charge for cheese). Â The burger was on a sourdough roll, and could have been a little longer to accommodate the remainder of the roll. Â It was thick and juicy. I enjoyed the decor, the antique bathroom faucet, Â and history on the wall. They have band nights, so I imagine it gets crowded in there including possible ghost are said to be in the building and pictures.
Review Source:Seriously? If you have self respect and taste buds, do yourself and favor and learn from my mistake. This business has no business serving food. Simply a shameful place to enjoy a meal .
Mind you...we chose this location to celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary. *Crush was closed.
The bread brought to the table was heated up in the microwave. I heard the waitress request the staff heat it up. It was delivered and explained that, "it might be hard. try it and if you don't like it, I can get fresh bread". Â Why serve stale bread to begin with?
At this point..I knew what we had stumbled into. I just ordered a $6 salad. Â My wife and daughter went with this strange battered shrimp/crab/cream chess concoction and the portobello ravioli.
After the appetizers...they soon caught on and it all became one embarrassing joke.
Entrees delivered and they both just sampled the plates and passed over to me.
I eat anything, so not a problem. Honestly...the shrimp deal had no business being called food. The server admitted... AFTER the fact, that they wanted to warn us, but much like the bread...seem to come clean after the fact. Â
Back to the bread..my daughter enjoyed the stale bread after one bite ..so the server left it and went and searched for two pieces of fresh bread.
This was the worst experience ever! Â We had gone to this place before only to have a few cocktails. Â So this time we thought we would sit down and have dinner. Â When we walked in the manager/owner (not sure what he was) STEVE sat us. Â He recommend we sit in the bar area so we could watch the Olympics. Â 1st mistake. Â We had 4 different servers, not one of them spoke to each other. Â We either got nothing we asked for or 4 of the same thing. Â Our overpriced food came out cold and when we mentioned this to STEVE he did nothing, not even a SORRY! Â He could care less. Â This story could go on but I think you get it. Â
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY HERE! Â GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Yeah, I'm a Fan.
I was fortunate enough to come during a slow day. I read some reviews that service was awful for them, and the food was not up to par, but I think it was cool for what it is.
First off, like many review the ambiance is neat. Dark inside with a old western feel. Â The lounge is the first think you cross if you enter street side, im not sure but I believe there is another entrance on the opposite end. Â I can see that the Lounge would be fun, live bands to listen too and plenty of space.
I notices a banquet type room across from the bar, and it seemed to be able to fit a good amount of people.
I thought the food was excellent. Perfectly done to my tables order.
Soup of the day was clam chowder. Not bad at all, good flavor and consistency, and generous amount of clams. Bread was good along with the soup.
We had ordered onion rings. (just basic fried onions)
Full rack of Ribs were perfect. The meat from the bones fell off during each bite. The BBQ sauce was good, sweet tangy and well balanced.
Prime rib was HUGE! talk about generous. very tender, and flavorful.
Rib Eye had a nice char to it, and the mushrooms and sauce complemented each bite.
What I enjoyed the most about my dinning experience is the chef. After a few minutes our meal was served, he came to our table to check on us. You don't see that too often anymore.
Service was good, as stated before we went on a slow day.
Overall, I would return here, weather it be for a dinner party, small group of friends, or enjoying ones company.
This was a pretty cool place to enjoy great food, friendly staff. Â Prices are a med-high, but food was delicious, and service was good. Â
The entertainment that night was a band called the 209 All Stars which has a long list of familiar cover songs everyone had the pleasure of listening too, and had a good time.
Do you have your Green Clothing Accessory item on today? It's St Patrick's Day!!!
Decided to try Woodbridge Crossing after new ownership took over late last year...
On the menu...
Beef Lentil Soup (***** Included with Entree) Perfect Soup! Small chunks of Beef with Lentil, Carrots, Onions in a Beef Broth. Damned Good!
*** Lunch Special *** Corned Beef & Cabbage (***** $9.99) Perfectly made. Unlike most other restaurants where Corned Beef is an excuse to over-Salt the entree... the Corned Beef at WC was made to perfection.
On an 8" plate - of which half the space is taken up by Boiled Red Potatoes, the other is taken up by strips of Corned Beef on a bed of Green Cabbage. Corned Beef was not too Salty... and had a delicate texture.
Hot Tea (*** $3.00) Kinda expensive for Hot Tea...
Note to WC: Find another brand of Tea! I was only able to make two cups of Hot Tea out of one Tea Bag. When I was at Carl's in Stockton ( http://www.yelp.com/biz/… ) a couple of weeks ago, I could make five (5) cups out of their Tea Bags. Get that one!
Cheesecake (**** 1/2 $7.25) Damned good piece of New York style Cheesecake with a Cookie-Crust Pie Crust. Creamy smooth Cheesecake - just right for a New York Cheesecake!j BUT... dang, it;s expensive!
Irish Coffee (***** $6.00) When I asked for Irish Coffee... the Bartender asked Bailey's or Whiskey? Â How about Bailey's and Jameson's - lt's keep it all Irish today! Bartender was very accommodating - Irish Coffee was made perfectly STRONG with a dab of Whipped Cream on top.
Bread has been eliminated as a complimentary item (at least) from Lunch.
Atmosphere really hasn't changed very much.... still a pseudo Western Heritage Museum... The only real change I noticed cosmetically is that what was formerly a White-Tablecloth restaurant is now a Black-Tablecloth place. And the Railroad Sidecar is now always open.
Conversed briefly with the waitress, who was friendly and convesant... she said there is a Lunch Special every day... which is your best bet, with a Soup that changes daily also. Quite a few people in the restaurant today... in fact, more patrons in total than in my previous two visits. Felt a little bad for her... she was the only waiter working... WC has to plan for more help on days such as this... when St Patrick's Day is an excuse to go out and eat. A few years ago, I went to Stockton Joe's and found out that St Patrick's is their most popular day... second to Mother's Day.
Rudy Mendez, the Executive Chef, came by to converse with me as I finished my after-Lunch drink.... I pointed out to him that I never had a problem with Lunch at WC before the new ownership group took over... BUT, at Dinner, it seemed to me that WC catered more to the Bar-Side of the establishment than the restaurant side. Â Rudy replied that there was a change in that.... from 4pm to 7pm there will be a band that will prime the patrons... after 7pm the music will change to an instrumental group that will be more sedate and not so boisterous. He also recommended to guests that don't appreciate LOUD music to dine in the Railroad Car... I have my doubts about that... I think if anyone dines in there, it'll be like sitting in a Boom-Box. Nice guy, though...
I'll have to see that for myself, though...
Also took a look at the Dinner Menu $26 for a Rib-Eye or Filet... looks like WC is under-cutting other restaurants by $3.00 or more for comparable entrees...
When is the next excuse to go out and eat? Â Cinco de Mayo! Already got my restaurant for that Holiday picked out...
Although charming in it's decor and the wonderful history of the building, the food was substandard for the prices charged. Â There were 4 of us hoping to find a dining experience above par of say, Chili's. Â The salad...while cold and crisp contained Iceberg lettuce which to me should only be served in a coffee shop. Â The main courses were truly meciocre at best. Â Each of us ordered a different meal. Â 1. Â Calimari Steak....like a thick, white rubber tire served in in a bowl with soupy broth. Â Huh?
      2. Stuffed Prawns...Prawns??? Remember "Where's the Beef?" The shrimp used were the tiny Bay shrimp found in tuna cans. The batter was reminescent of Long John Silver's hush puppies.
      3. Halibut...Oscar style with, can you believe, artificial crab perched on top?
      4. Chicken Picatta...Not bad but certainly not great, again, served in a bowl, sitting in a thin sauce, which was an odd way of serving a fairly classic recipe.
Vegies were flavorless with no seasoning. Â We were going to order dessert since it was my friend's birthday but thought we didn't need any more surprises.
The waitress was great and she appeared to be alone that night so she was kept hopping and to her credit gave excellent service.
I have stopped in for lunch 4 times the past 2 months while traveling on business. This is a great little place. Service is outstanding and the food is great!!! A must try is the soup of the day and twice baked potato !!! Yum Yum...They do take American Express
***(update 04/19)*** Came back here on 04/08 for lunch again, tried the buffalo wings appetizer, great wings and sauce on the side just how I like it.
Went there to hear the band 'MOMENTS NOTICE' Â with hopes of enjoying a nice meal.
The food, simply put - HORRIBLE. This goes for, taste, preparation and service!
The Bartenders', however, are very nice ladies.
BUT, the band 'Moment's Notice', ROCKS THE TOWN!
In summary:
    Go for the drinks;
    Stay for 'Moments Notice'
(only play there, once a month, or so: http://www.momentsnotice…).
The Bar and the Live Music is the only reason they get 2 Stars.
The wife and I went here for date-night last night and this place is really incredible. Â The building itself looks incredibly old, and it's brick and wood-beam construction along with the saloon style bar and old-west memorabilia make this a very cozy, comfortable place to dine. Â It's layout is a little odd with the dining area in the back you walk through the bar to be seated.
The food was out of this world. Â We both started with bread and salads. Â I had the parmesan chicken which was served with seasoned cooked carrots and mashed potatoes. Â The missus had the steak with the carrots and a baked potato. Â All the food was perfectly prepared. Â The wait staff extremely courteous. Â I had wine with dinner and while they had a great wine list, their wine-by-the-glass selection was quite slim, offering few selections other than Robert Mondavi's Woodbridge wines. Â However going with the cab, I'd have to say it was an outstanding wine.
All in all it could have been a 5-star rating except for a couple misses. Â First, the building itself being so old, had a bit of a moldy/mildewy smell. Â Some might have considered it quaint but I found it a bit distracting. Â Certainly the wine-by-the-glass selection could have been better. Â Finally, this isn't a 'cheap' place to eat. Â I definitely found the overall experience commensurate with the price, but you are looking at $16-$26 a plate.
We are certainly looking forward to returning here!
First of all, when you just walk in the restaurant it looks like a museum with all the old guns hanging on the walls and other ancient gizmos, which is very cool and interesting. Unfortunately the first bad impression about the place came at the same time: there was nobody at the reception while a waitress was running around not paying any attention to us. Finally, after a few minutes waiting in the hall we were promised to be seated soon (which took another five minutes).
The service was really slow: it seemed like the place was understaffed: it took much longer time before they brought our food than in an average restaurant.
The soup and the steak were OK, the salad was served with garbanzo and red beans (which is not bad) and a crouton tasting like stale bread, while everything else, including sides and their Saturday special (the veal piccata, wasn't on the menu) and dessert (peach cobbler) was just pathetic... the baked potato was dry and cold and was not even loaded... Considering all this I'd say it's way too overpriced because only the steak is worth paying for.
By the way, the menu did not include price of Prime Rib, it said "market price" instead. Also it didn't show the weight of steak. I found it rather confusing.
