Y'all Come Back Saloon didn't have it's "open" sign on since they don't have one. (bartender). It's next to the mex eatery on the left. initially, thought saloon meant an hair place. then i saw a "Bud" sign.
cheap drinks. HH: Monday, 4-7?, Thurs, evenings
pour: sierra nevada "summer: (4.5)
-nice smooth lager
on draught:
-12 drafts, lots of bottles,
-long bar, many flatscreens.
-plenty of parking in lot
-small but congenial patrons..
Very laid back atmosphere. Bartender greeted my coworker and I asking us if we were Jehovah's Witnesses because we just got off work and were wearing ties! Good sense of humor. We ordered at least 50 dollars worth of drinks and she charged us only 28. Coming back for sure! Nice fireplace that you can sit around.
Review Source:This is a decent little "divey" local bar without the bad pretending to be cool attitude. Â been here three times and the barstaff has always been friendly and pours a decent drink.
other key pros:
- have "arrangements" with Bobs House (Korean/Afghan) on one side and the mexican place on the other. Â people can order there and bring food in. Â they even clear the plates for you.
- enough TV's to watch the appropriate sports that are on at the moment (basically the Giants and Sharks in my humble opinion)
- the crowd is reasonable - mix of the younger local drunks guys, after work folks, and post softball crowd
- prices are reasonable.
some of the key "cons":
- limited selection of top shelf products
- limited knowledge of spirits by wait staff
example of this - asked what bourbons they had - he started down the list ... Makers, Jack, Gentleman Jack, Seagrams, Wild Turkey, ... that is where I stopped him. Â Dude, of that list only the Makers is a bourbon. Â And when I ordered my traditional Manhattan, he had a hard time finding the vermouth - and he shook it way too long.
On the other hand, he knew what a Press was. Â For those of you with the quizzical looks on your faces right now, a press is 1/2 7up and 1/2 club soda with your spirit of choice - generally bourbon or whiskey but sometimes with vodka. Â So while he lost a star for listing Jack and Seagrams as a bourbon, he got it right back with that.
And on a side note - I saw a few recent reviews that mentioned high prices, not sure where that is coming from. Â our first order tonight was a Makers Press and a Makers Manhattan - total was $10. Â That is pretty damn reasonable. Â
Draft beer is $4.50 a pint and $3.50 during happy hour (which includes Thur from 8pm-10pm). Â so again, I think that is reasonable.
So not sure where the high price comments are coming from, but $3.50 for a pint of Longboard, Speakeasy, Sierra, or Fat Time is pretty reasonable these days.
And I was going to say it sure beat the heck out of Chevy's if you are looking for a place walking distance from BART. Â But I noticed tonight that Chevy's is now closed. Â So this is definitely the best place on this side of BART.
Good little local joint. Very friendly bar staff (Becca and Megan I think) and nice local folks. I have no clue how I became mayor after two logins with all the tablets and laptops I've seen here but since I am I felt obligated to take a sec to say something positive :-) Go check it out and don't forget to tip generously!
Review Source:This place is the epitome of dive bars, which is what I love about it! Â There is always a place to sit, whether at the bar or at a table. Â It's a small, cozy room with a fireplace, jukebox, and there's even a shuffleboard. Â The bartenders are always friendly and can serve some pretty decent drinks. Â It's even a great place to catch a game thanks to the few tvs around the bar. Â Whenever we're looking for a place to catch up and grab some drinks, we always find ourselves here.
Review Source:First time in the bar last night with an old Navy buddy. Not crowded at all and we sat at the bar. The bartender was very nice and cute to look at. Service was good and the bartender provided great service. Interesting conversation around us and the other patrons were friendly. I live in Pleasanton and believe I may have found my new crash bar. BTW the beer prices were very reasonable.
Review Source:I love dive bars! The only major gripe is that this place is in a strip mall. I know, I know, I know what your thinking...Dive Bar, Strip mall, get your head outta your ass! They got cheap drinks, good selection, service with a side of sass. Why am I complaining.
I'm gunna be honest, I don't know. I really don't. I love Branham Lounge in San Jose, and for what I recall they share a wall with a Taco Bell and an Orchard Supply. I just wasn't feelin it fellow Yelpers! So please, read this review with a grain of salt. Go try the place, please prove me wrong, I wanted to like this place.
I came in here a few months ago... There was a some people sitting at the bar but no one behind the bar... I waited for like 10 minutes for someone to show up.. finally a woman came and said very unfriendly like, "what can i get you". I ordered a beer... When I was done with my beer, I wanted to order another.. I waited and waited.... nothin.. so I left.. Yes I was by myself.. who cares.. I stop at places and have a beer all the time, but I usually get someone friendlier behind the counter... oh well.... my take: it looks like a middle age older white guy sorta place...
Review Source:I seldom provide Yelp reviews anymore. Â The 'Saloon' has been my favorite dive bar near work--a chill place after a long day of work in Pleasanton. Â I bring my coworkers, consultant partners, etc etc here. Â It's a low key, relaxed bar with generous pours and well priced drinks. Â The bartenders are pretty good too. Â They're always friendly and easy going. Â The Mexican restaurant & the pizza parlor are awesome also (great food!).
The problem? Â And why a one star (besides the fact that I can't choose no stars)? Â As much as I like this place, I doubt I would ever come here again. Â Last Friday, I decided to drop by for a scotch before I head back home. Â Instead, I got heckled a bit and called a 'Chinamen' from one of the local crack whore red neck locals. Â Bartender was either oblivious or didn't care to do anything. Â I called it out when I left though.
It's another reminder why I love my SF, there's quite a bit more tolerance. Â I vote with my money and ask the people that work with me to not partake in this establishment. Â Plenty of other bars around the area nowadays.
My brother's dive that he likes to pregame at before he goes out anywhere else. This place is kinda small, but it gets the job done. It also has a really cool bartender/owner. Plasmas a plenty and Kareoke. I've never seen it full (which I kinda like), but even if it was full, I'd probably still push my way to get a drink here.
Good on ya YCBS!
Ok..maybe 5 stars is generous, but this is Plesanton. If you like cougars, this is the place to be. What's interesting is that a lot of cops hang out here as well..but not to worry, they are also drinking (sans uniform). There are some major townie characters, like the lady we named Jazzercise. She has dyed red hair that she puts into a ponytail and through the back of her cap. She earned her name Jazzercise because of her Bedazzled hat. There's also several Golden Girls-types there (no, these are not the cougars). If you can deal with the Toby Keith (sorry Tony), Limp Bizkit and Nickelback on the jukebox, you'll def dig this spot. Just bring some extra cash to play your own tunes.
Review Source:I have been to the Y'all several times and it's probably my favorite bar in the area. Which isn't saying much since there really isn't a plethora of bars around. It's the type of place where you come to get a drink and relax. They have an online jukebox, dice for liars dice and a decent selction of booze and beer on tap. Another bonus is if you end up drinking to much and need some food to sober up, Nations and Balazo (I will only come to Balazo when I am drunk) are open late night.
You should check out the Y'all if you want a chill atmosphere to have a few drinks and have good conversation with friends.
If you're a fan of dive bars then this is your heaven. The Y'all Come Back Saloon is somewhat quiet and the crowd seems to be pretty diverse. Err... about as diverse as Pleasanton gets.
Drinks are reasonably priced and well poured, there is a pool table, plenty of seating and the bathrooms..well they're ok too.
The best feature of the bar is the Jukebox. It's one of those snazzy ones that has Internet capabilities so you can listen to ANYTHING. (I'm always a sucker for the Replacements.)
If you're in your early/mid twenties and you're a local -- you probably already know, but going here could be like going to a high school reunion. I don't even live in Pleasanton but when I'm in town I always see a few familiar faces.
My wife and I always stop in this place on Sunday after lunch when we are in town! We love the old time feel of it. Lights are dim, sports on the television and wonderful service! Bartender was very attentive and seemed to keep the bar top and table very clean. We are definitely going to keep coming back!
Review Source:Went there on this past Friday nite after working late and not wanting to drive around.
the Bartender (-ess) appeared from a back room after a good 10 mins of me waiting at the Bar and wondering ! Â A group comes in and one of the girls apparently was the bartender's friend, so she appeared from the back room quickly and got all their drinks.
Then a couple of people already at the tables got all their drinks.
And, i am still waiting :(
i was already tired and now i was pissed. Had a couple of quick beers, gave her a big tip and Viola...the Witch turns into a Fairy ! i get the sweetest smile and Thank You.
...at least one of us had a good day.
place is rustic, with a handful of tables and mis-matched chairs, a decent Jukebox, more flat screen TVs than chairs to sit in. Crowd was as rustic as the place.
Good for a quick drink when you have nothing else planned. I just moved here, so will probably go back again, ...and hopefully will run into the Fairy, and not the Witch.
options limited for east bay pleasanton...as for bars and access to late night dining, y'all come back saloon fine bar pick...shot of grey...scotch on the rocks....beers...tables plenty with bar stool seating or standing....mingle mixed crowds and all ages....another round!....or two!...or three!....quick bite at nation's and back....round four and five....closing down wooden rustic bar at two am...quick drive-thru burger kings for more late eats.....
Review Source:I love this place. We have been to many bars in the Ptown area and this is as old school as it gets. Very basic interior but reminds me of an old pub in Michigan. The beer is cheap compared to everything else in the area. The bartender was very attentive. Our glasses were never empty. The crowd was cool. You had drunks, young professionals, some bikers, some college kids. Very nice and not that loud. Will make this our go to bar. I don't believe you can buy any food but you are surrounded by restaurants right outside the front door.
Review Source:I remember my friend told me about this place a long time ago. I laughed at the name because I didn't believe her. Well, it's true. I took my Southern boy there for some giggles. It isn't your typical dive: not dark, not terribly dirty, but the bar did seem pretty stacked with various choices of beverages. Then again, we were sitting under the light so maybe that's why it seemed lighter than usual in there. It's probably better than most bars in the area, I'll give it that much. The crowd looked familiar. I'd probably go here if I didn't feel like going to a louder bar such as Sunshine Saloon.
Review Source:I ended up here twice this past weekend and by the second night I was sold. Kind of a dive bar but its got everything you need...strong drinks, juke box, lots of seating, darts and dice! Friday night was busy while saturday was dead. Staff was pretty friendly and there's a nation's and pizza joint close by for food.
Review Source:I went on a Saturday night with friends who kept telling me to meet them at "y'alls". Â After I figured out what they meant, we made it to the bar and had a fun time playing with the dice they have available. Â The juke box took about 45 minutes to play my song, but it had some Dio "Holy Diver" on the playlist so I was happy. Probably one of the darkest lit bars I've been to in a while, but the drinks were strong so I must have looked extra attractive. Â I'd recommend it because of the very close proximity to food joints next door.
Review Source:What, I haven't reviewed my other favorite bar!!! Y'all Come Back Saloon! It's like Krayon's in CV, a cheers environment most the time, and at night especially on a Friday it hop'n with young bucks in the evening. It's a worker's bar and nightclub on the weekends. Wednesday they have karakoie with lot's of people. Since it's next to a hotel it's a instant welcoming bar for new comers too. Stacy Poulos http://www.postcardtrave…
Review Source:It's hidden in a small shopping center and on a Friday night it gets packed. Â Make sure you bring a guy to buy you drinks because the bartenders seem to wait on the guys before the girls. Â Nothing special, but it can be fun with the right crowd. Â There is a $10 minimum for a credit card which isn't bad.
