Well, we tried this restaurant again after the last horrendous outing due to the manager calling after seeing our review here. This time the calamari was good and not dripping with oil although the "marinara" sauce was more like heated canned tomatoes. The bread was good but when we asked for olive oil and herbs our waitress stated they did not serve that there (although we had it last time and two tables over had it on their table), so she actually gave us a bowl of herbs and spices and we made our own. We decided to try the "Yardley burger" once again as that was the worst burger we ever had as was stated in our last review. Well some things just do not change as the burger was just ground beef, no spices, nothing added such as onion, garlic, salt/pepper, nothing, just plain ground beef which was horrible as even the texture of the beef was very pasty as though it was ground too fine. They tried to mask the poor taste of the hamburger with a 1/2" thick piece of tomato, lettuce and red onion but that made it so thick and the bread was so spongy that we took the meat out and tried to eat it in that manner. This was not a good choice as the burger was horrible without any of the toppings. The french fries were burnt again but at least crispy this time and not flexible like noodles like they were during the last visit. Although the staff was friendly and attentive, they could not make up for the failure of the food as we have now decided that two times and still bad food has turned us away for good from this restaurant.
Review Source:Another weekend, another bridal shower. Ahh, life in your mid twenties (I'm gonna go ahead and stretch the mid-twenties designation until at least 28).
This was a lovely spot for a shower. We had a private room upstairs which comfortably seated about 20 of us comfortably around 1 large table. (Warning: the stairs are steep and kinda narrow, so if you're expecting huge gifts, maybe rethink this). However, I think there was another larger shower going on downstairs which looked like a good spot too.
We had our own waiter who was very attentive (especially with the sangria, yum) and very nice. We were able to order brunch from what looked like the full menu. Really enjoyed my eggs benedict and the crab bisque soup (which comes in a smaller version if you, like me, like eating many things). Also had some asparagus salad which was very good, but a LOT of asparagus.
Large table to accommodate gifts, and overall a great spot for this type of event for a smaller, more intimate crew.
Just had a great experience at the Yardley Inn and wanted to share.
First off: Â this was a corporate lunch for about 40 of us in one of their side private party rooms. Â We all had a choice of 3 entrees but they graciously made just for me a vegetarian meal. Â It was outstanding.
But it's a given that the food is outstanding -- no one on here disputes that. Â What really put this over the top for me was the service: the impeccable, outstanding service. Â i believe I understood that the main server for our party was Rob -- who is also the owner. Â i believe that was what I understood. Â i have never seen anyone in the industry work as hard as this young man did. Â He made the entire experience a 5-star lunch.
I will definitely be back for dinner. Â Great, great place.
Be forewarned! Â HAIR in our food! Â We went to Yardley Inn for drinks on a Saturday night. Â We ordered drinks and some appetizers (French fries and Korean-style chicken wings). Â The French fries were soggy and the chicken wings were like eating leather. Â When were had almost finished with the chicken wings, we found HAIR in the sauce. Â The service was terrible and we finally had to go in search of our waitress for our tab. Â (She was sarcastic, brought our food, and then basically ignored us for the rest of the evening.) Â What a total disappointment.
Review Source:I've been coming to the Yardley Inn fairly consistently with my husband for about three years. Â They have a cute little patio with a view of the river, so we come within the three seasons where we can sit outside. Â We are in our 20s, and it is a bit of an older crowd inside, but we don't care. Everyone is friendly. Our service has always been fantastic, and is often the same, they must not have a high turnover (yay).
I am a huge brunch fan, and they have a really great and inventive brunch menu. Things like chicken and waffles, mushroom truffle omelets, good specials like juevos rancheros or different benedicts.
We now have our favorites though that we seem to repeat order.
We usually share a Caesar salad - above average dressing and freshly shaved parm.
My husband always gets the Yardley Inn burger - major points for the awesome boursin cheese and brioche bun.
I get the roasted chicken & chorizo chilaquiles, corn tortillas, chipotle tomato sauce, chihuahua cheese, fried egg. Seriously, I think it might be what I'd pick for my last meal. It's a perfect portion - it is LOVE.
We've come here for dinner once or twice, it was good but not blow-your-socks off great. Brunch for the win here.
Great coffee too by the way!
Updated review here based on 3 visits over the past 6 months - first time great service and great food. Second time server got my wife's order wrong over Saturday brunch and mine was about finished by the time they got the order right and recooked her order. Third time went back for dinner this past week - really poor service, no busing of the tables, had to ask for water, bread and water refills. Waited 15 minutes with an empty wine glass (their loss in revenue!!!) and had to re-ask for bread, soup was gone by the time the bread finally emerged. Food is very good - reasonable for the price - but service is very hit-or-miss. Had I got my last service the first time I went there I would never have returned.
Review Source:I've only been here once, but I really liked it. Â The inside it really quaint and nice.... They have a nice happy hour that includes drinks and appetizers; which is all the group had. Â They were pretty good, but the serving size was small. Â Â
They're a little on the pricey, but I would eat there again. Â It's right on the Delaware River, (even though there is a road that blocks most of the view).
My favorite place for a casual and chill dinner in Yardley. Â Nothing gets better than the atmosphere. Â Food is generally flavorful and above par but sometimes on the streaky side. Â They are wonderful to the local patrons and it shows. Â They work really hard to make the menu seasonal, as well as having many wine tastings, scotch dinners, etc. Â Always well done. Â They have a wonderful three course menu for lunch and dinner, all day on Tuesdays. Â Also, half price wine Monday nights can not be beat.
See you there!
Stopped in for dinner for the first time and had a good experience. I have a gluten intolerance, and they really make it easy to know which menu items are gluten-free. Our server was also super knowledge about which items I could have and took the time to double check everything. Plus, it was great to see a GF crab cake! I will definitely be back!
Review Source:I'm shocked this place only has 3.5 stars. I've lived here for a few months and we never stopped by. I saw the menu and was surprised by how inventive it was. We went and had an AMAZING dinner. We will definitely be back. It would have been a well-priced meal too if my boyfriend didn't order everything on the menu!
We got a special which was wild boar two ways (rib and some other way I forget). It was amazing. The meat was fall of the bone and it came with a size of the most delicious beans. I hope they make that a menu staple, because I could eat that once a week.
We also got the gnudi which was heavely soft pillows of ricotta. I loved how it had pumpkin seeds and the butternut squash was cooked well. It was the perfect dish to contrast the boar.
For appetizers, we got a cheese plate which was very good and they use local cheese which I love. We also got the truffled potato perogis which were good, but pretty greasy (I know, that's expected).
I will definitely be back for the gnudi alone. Yum.
I get emails from Yardley Inn that talk about specials and such. Â I got one last week that advertised Wild Boar. Â I was interested to try it. Â Went Saturday night and it was awful. Â It was ribs and the meat was so tough and grissly that you couldnt even get it off the bone. Â Usually the food is good here, but this was horrible. Â Don't order it.
Review Source:It's hard to decide on the right score for Yardley Inn...if you're asking about the food it's 2 stars. But the drinks and happy hour also known as "5 4 5" ($5 stoli cocktails and martinis, a chosen beer and chosen red and white wine starting at 5pm) deserve 5 stars. I've never been a huge fan of the food, but the atmosphere at Yardley Inn's bar is cozy and a great mix of traditional and modern and there's always a buzzing crowd. I always get a martini and they make it perfectly and unlike some places don't cheat you by giving you a tiny glass. This is my number one choice for happy hour in Bucks County.
Review Source:I was not impressed with The Yardley Inn. Â We were seated right away and that was good. Â Drink orders taken and brought quickly. Â That would be the last of good service. Â It took almost an hour from the time we placed our order until we received our meals, and the waitress, did not check on us at all to see if we needed drinks during that hour time. Â The entrees we had were: Veal Osso Bucco (bland and unseasoned), Â Crab cakes (Stringy), Â Lemon Chicken ( very small portion of boneless breast, more like pigeon), Â and Shrimp Malfati (this was the only satisfactory entree at our table). Â Not at all worth what they charge, and I have no desire to return. Â The valet parking was a nightmare. Â There were at least 18 people in line for their cars when we wanted to leave. Â We stood in the cold as the valet brought one vehicle at a time. Â To sum it up, it was far from a pleasant dining experience. Â Slooooooooow service, waitress did not check on us, food was so-so, and the valet was just as slow as the waitress. Â If by chance you like overpriced small portions and Waitresses who ignore your drinks, my advice is not to come to The Yardley Inn on a weekend night. Â Just horrible!
Review Source:Wonderful old inn next to the river with an attractive dining room and bar. Cosy, comfy dining room that is bustling - even later in the evening. Â Crab bisque was excellent - loaded with crab. Â The Margarita salad (a house specialty) was interesting and tasty - mixed greens and melon with walnuts and blue cheese. Â Grilled trout (also a house specialty) with green beans and fava beans was wonderful. Â Also, good seasonal beer on tap and wine by the glass. Â All in all a great meal.
Review Source:I'm a big fan of the Yardley Inn. We have been there a number of times for lunch and dinner and have never been disappointed. Great menu, fresh ingredients, and terrific dishes. The bar area is hopping too. The crowd is older and more refined for sure, but there is great energy here. Check it out!
Review Source:Went for brunch. Â The one star was for the little mini banana muffins they bring out which were yummy.
Showed up at 11:05. Flagged a waiter at 11:15 because we needed coffee. Placed our food order at that time as well. At 11:25 we asked a friendly girl that was pouring water to check our drink order. Finally got half of our drink order at 11:30. My mimosa was flat and bad. Received the rest of the drinks at 11:35. Flagged down the waiter again to inquire about the food. Â Finally at 11:50, we gave up and asked to pay for the drinks so we could leave. They charged us full price, gave a curt apology, and I left hungry. Bummer.
Others around us had problems as well. I have no idea how this place remains in business.
My wife and I went here for lunch on a Saturday. Staff were decent but nothing to rave about. I ordered salmon on a bed of black lentils and broccoli rabe in a purple mustard sauce. The salmon was a little on the dry side but the rest helped it recover. My wife had the mussels dish with the french fries. The mussels and the broth it leaves were excellent. The fries were a little soggy but good. There's an okay view of the river from the windows and a patio that looked nice. They should probably knock down the prices a bit, but definitely one of the better restaurants in the area.
Review Source:We decided to try the Yardley Inn again, and were extremely disappointed. Our waitress paid no attention to us at all - she chatted with other tables and passed by us with our drinks empty and never asked us if we needed refills. We had to ask her twice to bring us our drinks. We were a table of 4, and one the of the entrees we got was the Korean braised short rib. Absolutely terrible! It looked like they had trimmed a nice steak of all it's fatty pieces, grilled the pieces, and threw it on a plate.
Again, we waited for our waitress to stop by so we could send the plate back. She never came by! We had to stop another waitress - she took the plate and said she would send the manager over. The manager never came. Our waitress eventually stopped by and mumbled something about how "that's how the entree is supposed to be." Â We opted to not get another entree (not that she even asked.) We finished our food, and waited 15 minutes for someone to finally take the plates. Our waitress walked by us 4 times and completely ignored us.
When she finally came back over, we simply handed her our credit card so we could pay and leave. We will NOT be going back to the Yardley Inn. I would never recommend it to anyone. I cannot believe the terrible service we received. We ended up paying $110 (plus tip) for this meal. Totally unacceptable.
I've been here twice: once for a private party, and once with my parents (because the first visit was so great that I wanted to take them!)
Both times, the food was delicious, and the staff were personable, helpful, and friendly. I don't live nearby, but I do think this place is worth a visit, even if you're not local!
I went there today for "Brunch" I was initially disappointed when I sat down and read the menu , it was mostly breakfast type items or Brunch items if you will, With only a burger and a few sandwiches to choose from. You figure it being 1:30 PM they would be serving LUNCH by now and Not Brunch ... So I reluctantly ordered the Yardley Burger wishing they had more lunch type items on the menu instead of just a burger. My wife ordered the crab cakes and she said they were good. But when I bit into my burger I swear i heard it go "MOOOOO" The dang thing was dripping blood down my hands and squirting blood everywhere . It was RAW . I had ordered it Medium Well but this thing was still Alive I tell you . I don't know if the waitress misunderstood me or the cook mixed up my burger with someone else or what . Although I can't imagine anyone ordering a Burger filled with Raw Meat. Â
They were kind enough to take the burger off my bill and offered to make me something else , but I had already waited 20 minutes for them to NOT COOK my burger so I just sat and watched my wife eat crab cakes. Â
I'm not saying that it's a bad place , but unless you want something besides breakfast foods I would wait until Dinner and whatever you do , if you order the burger , Make sure they understand that you want the Meat Cooked and not Raw .
As much as I want to give the Yardley Inn 4 or 5 stars I just cannot. This place has a very great atmosphere, and an interesting bar. However, the last three or four times I've been here to eat I've been disappointed with the food. That is not to say the food is bad...but for what it costs I always feel it could have been a little bit better.
Do not avoid this place based upon my review. However, do not be surprised if you walk out of here with a lighter wallet and a deluded feeling.
For starts, the bar is very inviting and cozy and usually has good entertainment on weekends. Â
I always found the food to be good to very good, recently had the small Creekstone Filet and it was delicious. Â Â The menu could use some more diversity; it seems a bit limited and could use some freshening or more selection.
Service can be spotty like the other reviews suggest, although I've never had a bad experience. Â Â Prices are reasonable,
Have been here twice in the past year. Strange service both times, perhaps the same server twice? She was robotic (called me mam') and seemed only interested in taking our order and moving on.
On the second visit (lunch during the week) I ordered a salad and the salmon with lentils and told the sever I was gluten intolerant. Her only response was "I will let the kitchen know." Then proceeded to take the next order. After eating the salad, It took 20 minutes or so for our entrees to arrive. Halfway through my entree, I had a gluten reaction to something I had eaten. I mentioned to the hostess that I was Ill and she said they often get requests for gf meals and the kitchen understands what's involved. She said she will check with the kitchen to see what could have made me ill. I never heard from her or saw her again. Too bad. I wouldn't eat here If you're a Celiac, they obviously don't care.
The food here is good and it's within walking distance from my Apt.
I will say that they do have the best Calamari I have ever had. Â Calamari is an appetizer that I enjoy and I am always ordering it trying to find a new favorite. The Braised Beef Cheek Ravioli was very good. Â Both dishes i would recommend. Â Their fish entrees aren't bad either. Â You get a good return on your money here, it's good quality food for the price you are paying. Â
They are constantly updating their menu and usually a crowd which lets me know they do a good repeat business.
My family has been going to the Yardley Inn for decades - the main reason why we chose it for my mother's 70th birthday dinner (older people like what they like!). Â They were very accommodating setting us up with a small private room for 10 upstairs on one of the busiest holiday weekends of the year. Â
Entering (and leaving) the restaurant, you must walk through the cloud of cigarette smoke as the smokers all stand directly in front of the door. Â Totally disgusting. Â They should have a designated smoking area AWAY from the front door. Â
I started at the bar - a total mob scene. Â I wanted a Calvados Slider (the bartender had no clue what Calvados was so I settled for a nice Pinot Noir). Â Seriously, stick with beer, wine or easy cocktails or one of the many (and outdated) martinis on their list. Â
Our server was lovely, and kept the wine flowing through our 3 hour dinner. Â We never, ever felt rushed. Â We started with a few dozen Cape May Salt oysters. Â - the lemony aioli sauce with the vinagrette was delicious. Â They also had the standard cocktail sauce. Â Salads were very nice. Â I had the duck breast with chestnut stuffing. Â The duck was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Â The stuffing was a little light on the chestnuts and could have used a little bit more flavor. Â There were no green vegetables on the plate - a small portion of asparagus or something would have been nice as I usually only have a few bites of starches and prefer a portion of vegetables. Â My mother had the Ricotta Gnudi - perfect little pillows (like gnocchi) of ricotta in a yummy sauce. Â It was delicious and filling, but if you are not accustomed to richer, buttery, creamy food, you may be up all night!
The night we were there, they offered free valet parking. Â The valet were quick and efficient. Â However, the valet who brought my car around later in the evening either had horrid BO or he farted in my car. Â I had to put the windows down in 20 degree weather for the first 3 minutes of my drive home. Â What a way to end a perfectly nice evening out for my mother! Â
Would I go back to the Yardly Inn? Â Of course, it is where my family likes to go. Â Are there better, more innovative restaurants in Bucks County? Â YES there are.
We came by for some light apps and got to sample a few options through the Tier of Taste (order 3 for $18 and save $3)
-Trio of dips had soft toasted pita slices and good feta and hummus
-Fried calamari was tender and came with a sweet sauce, which was surprising but good
-Hot wings - tender chicken that was definitely a little spicy, but not too strong
For the price, this place ranks a 4/5. But in absolute terms, I've had better at lower price points. My spring garden salad w/ walnuts, cheese, etc. was decent. The greens weren't as fresh as I would have liked them to have been. My lobster ravioli was super good, but again, didn't quite warrant the hefty price tag. I did get a lot of lobster, which was cool.
My waitress was friendly and attentive. I reserved a table by the river, which was actually the beautiful Delaware with a roadway in between. Not ideal, but it's nice inside. Semi-pretentious clientele soured the experience a little, but otherwise a decent place to go for dinner if you don't want standard fare.
This is a fancy boathouse version of a restaurant, overlooking the Delaware in the summer (otherwise stay inside when it gets cold). Set in a former house, the rooms upstairs, especially, are basically private dining rooms.
Food here is a mix of Continental American/European and they try very hard to please, although their results have come out different. There's the decor, which reminds me of eating in someone's house (more like someone's parlor) from the early turn of the 20th Century, and the place is frequented by many of the local families and elderly. Feels almost like an old boathouse atmosphere at times downstairs due to the lack of young people here.
They have decent service, but I don't remember any of the food I've tried stand out there more than just a glimpse of fish (the salmon wasn't bad, and was salted properly) and the salad, which was very fresh. Pork chops were big, but not really as tasty all the way through (seasoning was definitely only for the top).
Either they have really, really changed or my husband and I don't agree with the previous reviews.
Maybe they deserve a re-visit? I am not sure, because we were not at all impressed with the food, the prices or how when we arrived on time for our reservations, the well known guests that were standing behind us, were greeted before us loudly and given our table?
We then had to wait quite awhile even though we did have reservations. Â Will give them one more chance.
My family and I have been patrons of the Yardley Inn on and off for years. Â I have been there for a shower, a couple of parties, group dinners, dinners for two, and just appetizers at the bar. Â Each time, no matter what the circumstance, Yardley Inn delivers.
The Yardley Inn is set in an historic, quaint building overlooking the Delaware River. Â The decor is comfy and current, and the food is outstanding. Â There is a bar menu if you just want to grab a light bite, or a full dinner menu that features their awesome jumbo lump crab cakes, braised lamb shank, crispy duck, filet mignon, cioppino, and numerous fish and pasta dishes. Â I really can't do the menu justice, so please visit http://www.yardleyinn.com to see it for yourself. Â They also serve lunch, and brunch on weekends.
Last night I met up with a friend of mine for some cocktails and appetizers. Â We both had the crab bisque which according to my friend is the best she has ever had. Â I must agree. Â Then we shared the "Tiers of Taste" appetizer, which includes three appetizers of your selection. Â We had the crab cakes, hummus and pita, and beef spring rolls - all delicious. Â
The drinks are large and strong. Â The martinis are the size of my head. Â They also have an extensive wine list and selection of beers. Â And according to their website, they have free WiFi!
In recent years they were twice hit by the flooding of the Delaware River. Â And each time they have renovated it back to its glory. Â And there is not a hint of mold, unlike a lot of other buildings that were victims of the flood.
