Zurang is consistent, but the food has not been as good for the last 2 years. Been going here, since 2007. Still, it's decent. They orange tents in the back are the best part of this place. Also, the soju mojitos are good, but you need to add another bottle of soju to it...to really enjoy. Noraebang rooms aren't that great, but if you get a food/drink package...it's worth it. Sound quality isn't awesome though.
Review Source:Moderately priced food, decent ambiance, good service, happy hour, what more could you ask for in a Korean drinking and eating joint?
Food - Fried platter! This is a must if you plan on drinking. It has all of your favorites, fries, nuggets, mozzarella sticks, chicken wings.
Mussels - Excellent. Nice amount and soup was good.
Kimchi SHAKED UP Rice - Bangin. It's served in tin box, the waiter shows you it to you before he closes it and shakes it up. It's pretty cool and unique.
Seaweed Rice Balls - Great! Simple but yet so good when you're pounding down soju and beer.
Service - Excellent. The servers here were really on top of what they were doing. Drinks and food came in orderly fashion.
Ambiance - Low light, dim, somewhat cozy. There is a large LCD screen and out door seating area with private tents for those who want to smoke.
Verdict - I had a pretty fun experience at Zurang. I really plan on coming back. The food was surprisingly decent and the service was great. I did not feel unwelcome or rushed during my time here. I highly recommend this place. The only tip I have is to be careful of where you park. Cops may follow you to your vehicle when you leave. Also, order the fried food platter, you'll appreciate it :)
I grew up going to Korean bars and find it ever so difficult finding a place where I don't bring up the average age of the place. Â For the 30's crowd, what I need in a Korean bar is good food, and not so loud music and this place delivers. Â My taste buds were distracted by the beer and soju that night but remember most of what we ordered was really good. Â We had the noo loong ji guk which was delicious. Â I would like to come back when the weather is nicer and take up one of the little huts outside.
Review Source:Atmosphere is nice. Â The music is on the loud side, but good enough to have conversations. Â The Pa-dalk (Scallion chicken) is really really delicious. Â It's fried chicken with shredded scallions on top. But the fried chicken has some seasoning on it that makes it taste so good. Â It like a cinnamon-y, savory, seasoning. Â I'm not sure if its cinnamon, but its delicious!! Always good with soju and/or beer. Fun place to be with friends.
Review Source:Basically like any other Korean bars in the neighborhood, with pretty much the same menu if you know what I'm talking about.
But what makes THIS place special and keeps me going back:
1. Indoor & Outdoor: You can choose to sit indoors and outdoor. If you smoke, then outdoor is heaven for you. No more drinking a shot, walking down the stairs to smoke and walking back up! You can literally smoke in your sit while drinking. Awesome.
2. Atmosphere: One of the better ones in the neighborhood for the ambiance. Nice lighting, pretty good overall.
3. Service: Again, one of the better ones. They always give us some kind of free dish. Not that many places do this around here.
After our first round of drinks at Han Shin Pocha (Gu Gong Tan) near Murray Hill Station, our party decided to go for round 2 at Zurang. Zurang is on the strip of many many Korean eateries near Broadway Station in Flushing. This place is pretty unique in the fact that there are both outside seating area in Tents where people are allowed to smoke or just eat/dine/drink 'al fresco' like a Yelper stated previously. This place also has a Karaoke room and several good Karaoke packages ($120 for like 2 hours of Karaoke, 4 bottles of soju, 2 entrees, and 6 beer) which was such a good deal! Although the room itself was small, we really had a blast and we even received 'service' of 1 hour of Karaoke which in Korean means 'something given freely or as a sign of appreciation from the owner/manager. We ordered Golbaengi muchim and Budaejjigye as entrees and they were actually pretty good. Will return!!
Review Source:lol...still can't believe there's a lone review for this place. Anyway, this place holds some really fond memories with my ex-girlfriend, but that's a different story. Â Let's jump right into the FOOD :)
Their boo dae jigae is a bowl of heaven, a concoction of (i don't wanna know what, but it's awesome!), santa's bag....well, you get it. Another HUGE plus is their outdoor seating with smoking allowed (separate booths so if the tent next to you is blowing chimneys you'll still be fine). Whether you're with your date or a group of friends, this place has the right ambiance balance.
I took 1 star off because even though they provide heaters outdoors in the winter time, it's of no use, so keep your long johns handy :D, don't forget your cigarette packs, and make sure to get their boo dae jigae!
Admittingly, I've spent way.... way too much time at drink spots such at Zurang, in the general Queens area - and this happens to be one of the better ones. It's right by the Broadway Lirr station, so that's very convenient, and make your way 20 steps to Northern Blvd, and you'll find plenty of karaoke places and other drink spots.
Zurang is pretty interesting in that, you can choose to sit indoors, outdoors (in little tents, heat is provided), or the bar area.
I tend to request seating indoors, if it isn't too crowded - but it can get pretty noisy, and pretty fast. There is a cute area right in the back, with Christmas lights and chairs for the smoker - and right behind that are the tents. The tents can get pretty cold in the winter, but they'll bring you some mini heaters to warm you up - and of course the alcohol will help..
The food is good, the stews are big, spicy and hit the spot - and their other options (many of which you can find elsewhere in Flushing - and also taste about the same) are decent as well.
The menu and alcohol selections are similar anywhere you go, the only difference is really in atmosphere. Here, you have some options and can walk to your next destination!
We always have a pretty good time drinking here.
Here are some details:
1) food: we normally just order the budae jigae cause we're grimy like that. Â The budae is really really really good in here people!!!
2) service: pretty prompt in general. But when it does get busy, you might have to put in some work to flag someone down
3) decor: pretty chill. nothing ugly or weird about the place.
4) outdoor section: there's 5-7 tables housed by tents. it's good for smokers and those that like chilling alfresco style
5) beer: i think when they first opened, they did not have pitchers available. But now they do, so don't worry.
WARNING: Please do not drink and drive in the Flushing area. The police are watching you and you don't want to ruin your weekend.
