We spent a fun Sunday sampling beer in the Columbus area, and this was our third stop.  This is in the same building as the Simmons Winery, so if you are looking for this out in the country brewery, just follow the wine trail signs!  We didn't have any food here, but as a registered food spy, the pizza looked and smelled delicious.

I remember the beer here being good.  Honestly, I was a little drunk by this stop, so I remember a bit less of the specifics than I otherwise might.  I think the brown was particularly good?  Who knows.  I remember having beer I enjoyed, and that's really what mattered.  We sat at the bar, and the bartender was initially not that interested in talking to us, but as I'm pushy when sober, and even more pushy after I've had a few, he ended up happily chatting with us by the end.  I'm assuming he was happy to be chatting with us, because I assume everyone is happy to be chatting with me when I'm drunk.

    The good:
    Pizza toppings were very good.
    Pizza sauce very good.
    The beer tastes good.

    The bad:
Pizza dough was terrible. It was like a damp, dense, stale cracker.
The beer had no carbonation what so ever. It was like drinking beer flavored water.

The pizza, beer and the place have good potential.  Just need to fix a few key things.  Could be a really great place.

OK - went again and just had the beer.  Much better.... I really like the IPA... took a couple growlers home.... still need to try the pizza since they fixed the crust.....

Nice looking and was surprised to see it at capacity on a cold rainy day. Building is set up half brewery side is what you would expect, a bar, some wood, concrete floor, and then there is a dividing counter with seats and the wine shop area which is more farm looking with tables and seating as well.y.

As for the actual product, the pizza was good, 19.99 for a 16" and you can get as many toppings as you want, I have not experienced this before. We got parm chicken and then pulled pork, bacon, peppers, bbq, which I loved but the pork needed cleaned better (less fat).

the 'brewery'  they serve five beers Wheat, APA, AIPA, Belgian Amber, English Brown, and a Porter. I had the Belgian, and the IPA. They were all really flat,  luckily the waitress was delightful and let me send them back,  I mentioned the Co2 may need adjusted and that helped, but they were really warm. The taste of the two beers is what I call safe, really not any level of uniqueness to them.

Although I was not really impressed, I commend anyone who is willing to make the gamble on opening a restaurant and more so give a shot at brewing, particularly around Columbus.

    Some suggestions
    1. Do something about the slick concrete floor when it is wet outside.
    2. Get your C02 pressure dialed in and cool your kegs, not like Coors lite cold but like a modest 45 degrees
    4. Try some creative brews, have some rotating taps going from other brewers and get involved in the brewing culture around Indiana
    6. Commend your waitstaff they are keeping you in business, also teach them a little about the beers you serve
