Great location, right on the boardwalk with lots of pleasant atmosphere.
Drinks are watered down...my Mojito was flat with not enough rum or sweetness.
I had the chicken skewers which were decent without being good.
The peanut sauce in the Asian chicken salad was on point though...sharp, tangy and delicious!
This review is for my experience ringing in 2013 on NYE
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!!
I was immediately enthused to see a folding table with multiple NYE party favors (hats, whistles, etc) when we walked in. Â Nice little touch for the evening. Â We found a booth and a waiter came telling us it's busy and better to order now. Â I had the Seasonal Blue Moon (on tap) and later on a Guiness (they ran out of the Brooklyn Lager). Â They said food might be a while, but it ended up only taking 30 min. Â Not bad for NYE.
I had never been to an East Coast ocean city and figured Myrtle Beach would be popping. Â It wasn't. Â But luckily my group found this place to be open w/ no cover charge and not too busy.
The food..... OMG, not what I expected from a dive bar type place. Â We ordered the Mac n' Cheese (see photo), Buffalo Pizza (see photo), and Calamari appetizer (see photo). Â They had a wide range of pizza and burgers that I wanted to try. Â Next time.
Man n' Cheese: $7 and it said it came with "adult cheese sauce". Â I'd assume it had alcohol in it, but I didn't taste any. Â Maybe it was called "adult" b/c of the style of mac n' cheese. Â 3 rectangular shaped fried pieces. Â VERY CLASSY and unique. Â You need the sauce for the cheesy flavor. Â This was done extremely well.
Calamari: nice little addition with the strips of green/red bell peppers and jalapenos. Â Nothing too fancy, but that addition of the veggies was a welcome surprise. Â (NOTE: the jalepeno strips are spicy, seeds still on..... so be advised).
Buffalo Pizza: Â OMG!!! Â Stinkin' AWESOME and OFF THE CHAIN!!! Â It was so tasty we ordered a second one. Â It's drizzled with buffalo wing sauce. Â Chicken is juicy and plenty. Â The dough they make their pizzas are very edible. Â Usually (being from Southern California) I try not to eat too much of the crust. Â This one was SO GOOD. Â Fluffy, tasty, bendable.... nice. Â I ate everything up.
I do have to say we had quite the experience here. Â An MC was keeping everybody lively. Â They played a LOT of rap/hip-hop, including old school (loved it when "Rappers Delight" came on with the music video). Â The clientele seemed a bit "ghetto", but it was off season and NYE. Â We saw a party dine-n-dash, a homeless guy came to our table (we gave him some pizza, later on found out this guy frequents the bars in this area so it wasn't so uncommon. Â The staff handled it pretty quickly), and a New Years proposal.
Overall I just LOVED the place. Â The atmospher was very inviting. Â Beers on tap were SUPERB! Â Food was AMAZING!!! Â Loved that they set the mood/scene for NYE with the party favors. Â They even hand delivered champagne to every single patron right after the ball dropped. Â To me, classy move. Â That alone is almost 5-stars.
I read some articles that this place actually just opened a couple months before I went there. Â I think the owner is doing a good thing here. Â If you're in Myrtle Beach.... hit this up. Â It's right along the boardwalk/ocean area.
We went to 8th Ave Tiki Bar & Grill after checking into our hotel on a Friday night. Â When we arrived there weren't many people due to it being the off-season and the bar opening only a few weeks prior. Â It still has that new bar smell ;) Â
There is plenty of seating room both at tables and the bar. Â The decor is awesome and very fitting with the Tiki theme. The bartenders were very friendly and could make some pretty awesome drinks - they were strong but had the perfect amount of flavor. Â
The bar also provides football games on Sundays with plenty of TVs and it is expected that a private parking lot will be opening in the future.
