First time at Aiko,, live in Whitestone NY and was looking for a place to eat before a movie. Â Food was great. Boyfriend n I had spicy tuna roll, yellowtail scallion roll, salmon skin roll and the a spicy King Salmon roll, which the waitress suggested. Also an order of steak teriyaki and side order of fried rice. Â Have to say ALL WERE DELICIOUS! We really enjoyed the rolls, fish was very fresh, service very friendly, overall experience was wonderful. Will b back n will recommend to others. Â Also only 2 blocks from movie theatre.
Review Source:I didn't like this place as Rock n Sake (food wise) just the environment was great. Â So trying Aiko was a nice change of place, it is a SUSHI bar, they have a limited kitchen menu. Had a bunch of different rolls, all in all not bad at all. Waitress gave us good recommendations for appetizers. Overall pleased!
Review Source:I liked this place when it was Rock-n-Sake, so I figured that I would like the new version, too. Â Upon entering, it didn't seem like they had changed much of the decor. Â The key difference is that the music was significantly lower. Â My friend and I were actually able to hear each other during our conversation.
The food, though, I wasn't crazy about. Â There isn't much on the menu other than sushi for a vegetarian to eat. Â Not even something as simple as vegetable or tofu teriyaki, which is what I was craving at the time. Â I was quite disappointed. Â The miso soup and vegetable tempura I ended up getting was nothing special.
Service was alright. Â My friend and I were the only people in the place (other than staff) for most of our meal, but it took a while to order and get water.
All in all, I don't think I'd come back here to eat. Â Maybe to drink, though.
I order sushi lunch delivery from here once in a while, but I think that's going to end. The first time I had it, I was happy with it for the price. Each time I've ordered since the quality of fish has gone down. I don't want to eat stringy tuna or avocado that seems well past its prime. Sad, because they're really fast with delivery.
Review Source:I've really been trying to acclimate myself to the world of sushi and really wish that there is a place that teaches the world of Sushi and Sashimi. Â having visited several places with friends, i still am trying to discover the different types. Â With Aiko Sushi & Bar being in town, one evening i decided i'd give this place a try and see how the experience would be.
With a trendy decor and a cool atmosphere, i was expecting (or hoping, at least) for a friendlier experience. Â Simply put, i asked for advice on what one may recommend or suggest, and the answer was vague, "everything is good". Â The menu has a lot to offer, so it only confused me more.
On to the menu, several options were ordered for a group take-out, which consisted of a Bento Box B (Teriyaki Shrimp and a substituted Spicy Mango Shrimp Roll), Thunder Roll, and an order of california roll along with some Teriyaki Shrimp. Â
Overall, the food quality was decent and the portion sizes were not only priced reasonable, but quite satisfying. Â The teriyaki shrimp, california roll, as well as the Bento Box options stood out for the group.
***On a side note, a 15% discount is being offered at present***
I have been ordering lunch from this place for a few weeks now since Rock N closed.
Overall I have to say I am pretty pleased with the quality and price for takeout sushi. I dont think I would go out of my way to eat in here with so many other great options around.
The fish has been fresh every time and I really like sashimi lunch!
This is a pretty typical Chinese restaurant serving Japanese food. We ordered the sushi-sashimi for two. It came with 2 "special" rolls.
The rice is wrong, the sashimi a mixed bag - decent scallops, snapper and fluke, pretty standard farmed salmon and recently frozen maguro. The special rolls, I can't remember what I got, but again pretty typical - a mess. I just don't know why people think it's delicious to roll up so many ingredients in a roll and call it sushi. It's usually just a mess, literally and on the palate.
And they gave us "white tuna". Please, that should never be served to people unless they ask for it. Even then...there's a reason it's used for cat food in Japan.
They deliver and the prices aren't too bad.
Great lunch specials even on weekend! Â I ordered sushi and sashimi lunch special: generous cut of fresh sashimi - Â salmon, yellowtail and salmon, four pieces of sushi and unique spicy tuna roll. Â Modern feel to restaurant and good sashimi and sushi. Â I wish they had a better selection of beer!
Review Source:As an avid Japanese culture fan and foodie I'd have to you could find better Japanese food in this area.
A few of the soy sauce places came out dirty and the vegetable tempura was unidentifiable (and the potato didn't really have flavor)
It might've just been because it was a busy Friday night but it was still a disappointing experience for me.
Perhaps it may be more accepted by the Western sushi customer but for the same price range I'd choose another restaurant in this town.
