Since moving to Missoula in January, I've visited Al and Vic's twice. I'm a big fan of the divey atmosphere and being able to order the same food that's served next door at James' (Great sweet potato tots and cajun chicken sandwich!!!). Joe, the bartender, is one of the friendliest men I've met in Missoula and deserves all of your tips.
Review Source:Super fun bar with outdoor seating. Â It can get VERY crowded, and that's fun too. Maybe a rookie smoke jumper will ask you to take his shot for him because he's too drunk to take it. Â :) Â Or perhaps when you ask for a G &T, the bartender will say, "Do you mean a Gin and Tonic?" in a very snotty tone. Â If you wear glasses and tight dresses, a drunk at the bar may ask you if you "are like a sexy librarian? Â Like do you take off those glasses and get all crazy?" Â I don't know. Â But go to Al and Vic's. Â It's super fun.
Review Source:This is one of the cleaner bars that I found in Zootown. It has a couple pool tables that are always being used by the incredi-jocks. The inside area surrounding the bar is almost always shoulder to shoulder busy. but then you walk past the pool tables through what looks like a fire escape door and Aaaahaaa..
The Back deck is where it is at. It is large with a bunch of tables and chairs. Smoking is allowed. Sadly dogs are not.. But all in all this is an amazing bar for the use of the back deck. Oh and those stiff montana drinks.
I went back here on saturday night with some friends during my visit to Missoula. This place still rocks and now you can get food from a place that has opened up next door. I am not sure of the name of the place as I was a few drinks in from brewfest and The Rhino however the burger was good as was the Tequila Sunrise that I got! Still strong as always!
Review Source:You can sum up this bar with one word...strong freakin drinks.
Only the brave order a double in this place. Busy as all get out on weekends when class is in session. The pool table is almost unuseable cause of the amount of people in here. But they are there for good reason, it's a fun place to be.
If you like a smoke free bar with weak drinks, then Al's and Vic's is probably not for you. Â They are fans of the long pour and you definitely get your money's worth if you're looking for a blurry good time. Â BUT, it is pretty smoky and it is one of the last few bars in Missoula where those who choose nicotine to complement their alcohol can still light up. Â
But I'm a fan, always have been. Â It's comparable to the Silver Dollar but with probably a slightly younger crowd. Â The bar tenders are great and you can usually jump on a pool table without waiting too long. Â What else do you need?
