How does a pizza place get pizza so wrong??

It's Sunday and we JUST received a Margherita pizza that we ordered through Grubhub. I'm writing this review as my significant other is attempting to gnaw through a slice of shitty disappointment - which she had to MICROWAVE because it arrived cold and flat and lacking in any kind of flavor.

Let's make this review a game, shall we?

Strike one: The time. This pizza was ordered at 3:46pm and arrived at 4:52pm. Wow. Awesome service right there. If it's going to take an HOUR to make a pizza, at least make sure it arrives hot. I can only describe what was delivered as cold, stiff and dead... kind of like all of my hopes and dreams for this pizza.

Strike two: The flavor. The pizza was LACKING in the main ingredients which make it a Margherita pizza. Let's see, fresh tomatoes, basil, olive oil, mozzarella...this is what makes up a Margherita pizza, no? NOPE. Not on this one. This one was apparently made from what I can only assume was left-over ingredients sitting in someone's fridge: half a can of old tomato paste, an old store-bought pizza crust, seemingly flavor-less imitation mozzarella, and maybe a hinting of an herb which will remain unidentified. We actually used our imaginations and tried to be optimistic in thinking this pizza would have tasted better, had it arrived warm. However, this is really not the case.

Strike three: The cost. Overall, this pizza cost us $18+, including: one large pizza, a $1 delivery surcharge, and the tip. Here's a tip for anybody reading this review, save yourself the money and buy a frozen pizza from DiGiorno. It's much much better. OR (adding some flair for sarcasm here) toast up some bread and smear some tomato paste onto it, then add a hinting of parmesan. THAT would have been better than this.

    aaaand you're OUT.

This makes yet another disappointing pizza experience for me since moving to New Jersey, which is a land full of Italian joints (shouldn't these people be the BEST at making pizza??). From now on, I'm going to stock-pile my freezer with frozen DiGiorno pizzas and save myself some money.

I have gotten takeout pizza and other italian food several times from here and it is now my go-to place.  The pizza is really good with a good amount of cheese and a crispy and pillowy crust.  Not too much, not too little.

The main thing, though, that brings this pizza joint into the 4-star stratosphere is the other italian food.  I didn't expect much, but we ordered penne vodka, tortellini alfredo, meatballs, and stuffed shells.  The penne vodka was really good, no off flavors.  The meatballs were acceptable, but I probably won't get them again.  The stuffed shells were good with a bunch of mozz thrown on top.  The crown jewel was the alfredo sauce.  Holy hell it was some of the best of alfredo I've had.  Alfredo is a very simple recipe, but I've found that a lot of places don't use the right combination.  Some places it's way too rich.  Some places it's watery and lacks flavor.  Angelo's does it just right.  Big fan.

Oh, and yes, the guy who takes payment is a real ball ache.  He gave me a hard time when my card wouldn't swipe through his machine dismissing any chance that it was his machine's fault.  I assume he's the owner.  However, I urge all of you to grow some thicker skin.  A little attitude is the NJ way.  And besides, the food is the important thing.

I am in love with the Glen Ridge special.  It is a chicken parm sandwich with vodka sauce.  It just doesn't get any better than that.   The staff was friendly and the wait was normal.  Will be back.

Decent pizza, slightly oily but the right amout of cheese.  Something about the dough didn't feel quite right and I wish the crust on our pie was crunchier.

Went here for my birthday with 12 people. We called in advance and made a reservation. The man who awnsered the phone was very nice and allowed me to bring a cake as well as some wine.i arrived a half hour early since it was my party... When we arrived the table was not set up yet, but was set up very quickly. When we sat down they supplied us with bread as everyone ordered. Out drinks were served first, and then appetizers came out. I posted some pics. The apps were excellent especially the fried calamari. Main courses came next and the food was excellent. I had chicken Marsala which was served extremely hot so I know it went from the pan to the table. They gave us two servers which was excellent. Chicken Murphy was served just the way my mother would serve it. The gravy was excellent. Dessert was my birthday cake and cappuccinos. The check came to 338.00 for 12 people including gratuity of fifty five dollars which we added an additional twenty. They wrappe up my extra cake a way to make sure it would last the night in the car. Overall a great experience.

For starters, this is a pizzeria with a restaurant in the back.  In the back there is parking for customers who are planning on eating at the restaurant, which makes life a lot more simple!  The restaurant portion of the pizzeria is nicely decorated, clean, and intimate.  The waitress is welcoming, friendly, sits you immediately and asks you what you would like to drink once you are settled in at your table!  Also, once you order your food it comes out shortly, no extreme waiting, or anything!!!

The food is amazing!  I am absolutely obsessed with their plain pizza and their cold antipasto salad!!!  Their plain pizza has an amazing perfect distribution of cheese and tomato sauce, which both are flavorful, so one does not overpower the other.  The pizza is delicious when it is fresh out of the oven, but it is out of this world when you let it sit for a few minutes or eat it as a left over!!!  The cold antipasto is hands down the best cold antipasto I have ever had; I have never had a place even compare to Angelo's.  You get a whole diversed selection of meats from ham, salami, ect.  Also, the cheese is fresh and blends so well with the meats and lettuce.  They evenly put everything in the cold antipasto, so if you choose a cold antipasto for 2, 4, ect, everyone gets to taste everything.

Lastly, this place is awesome to order food from and get delivered.  They are always quick and the food is always hot once you receive it!!! This is hands down my favorite Italian pizzeria

Ordered from this place a couple of times and were happy with the pizza. The Angelo's Special pizza was loaded with generous toppings. For $19 I was happy with what I got. Will go back.

I have given a lot of business to the take-out menu.  The food is decent.  Prices are reasonable.   Recently I called in a plain pie order, and showed up 15 minutes later as the person on the phone told me.  I had to wait 25 minutes MORE at the counter while I watched pie after pie going out for delivery--probably at least 15 pizzas came out of the oven and went to delivery while I waited and waited.  The delivery guy left and came back, and I was still standing there.  it seemed they cared more about pleasing the customers asking for delivery than the customer in person before them with money in hand.   As I was waiting for so long I had to listen to conversations one of the main employees/owner? was having on the phone about "getting a deal" at what sounded like a vacation rental he was trying to book for his family.  It might have been wiser for him to apologize to his customer for the wait, or explain why things took so long.  I stood and waited and waited and eventually got my pie.   I also was certain I would order the next one from a different place.

Angelo's is a decent restaurant, but not in my top 10. The dining area is a large room with tables and chairs, reminiscent of a pizza parlor. The waitress was nice and attentive. The pizza had a crispy crust and was better than I expected. I also had the meat ravioli that had an odd flavor to them. They weren't bad, but didn't leave me wanting to come back for more.

Overall, this is a decent restaurant with a very pleasant staff. I will be returning soon to try another dish or two.

Wonderful place. I have been going here since the early 90s.  Their sauce is one of the best.  Huge portions and great prices.  Best Shrimp Parm ever.  Great Pizza.  Wonderful Waitstaff especially Barbara.  We had my son's 1st birthday party here.  Great food, great time

Angelo's Pizza won't win any awards for being the best of anything because they are just really good at everything.
Pizza has nice crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside crust.  Sauce and cheese are applied in liberal but not over-powering amounts.  Toppings are generous.
Their hot sandwiches are also good.  I've had the eggplant parm sandwich and my husband has had the chicken parm and meatball subs.  All were really good and crispy from the oven.
Their entrees are equally good and flavorful.
They have party space in the back of the restaurant however, it's a little confusing to get to because you have to walk around the side of the building and not in the front door where the delivery and take-out business is.
That being said, it's a really great option for good NJ pizza.  They're open every day and open late.
Street parking only but you might be able to use the car wash lot after their closed for the day.  I've seen cars parked there and think they might be Angelo's customers.
