Fan-freakin-tastic! Best BBQ wings around.

Awesome wings! Would definitely recommend! Moved here for Florida over a year ago and was in search of a good wing place and this is it! It's tucked away and a bit difficult to find, but worth all the turn arounds. The wait staff was friendly and efficient.

I've ordered wings here on a number of occasions and have been dissappointed every time. I keep giving them chances as there's really nowhere else to get wings in Apex. I made a last ditch effort to get good wings this evening and am completely disgusted in the wings that I got. Completely inedible. I ate about 5 wings and threw the rest out like I usually do. I give up. Will have to look for wings somewhere else or possible make some from scratch myself.

I found out about this place when my coworkers decided to order lunch from Apex Wings. Since I was at work, I didn't want to be eating with my hands, so I passed on the wings and ordered a cheeseburger. It was awesome! It's a thick patty, just the way I like it and their lightly buttered bun was great. You can choose whatever toppings you want. It's basically just your average burger (no fancy sauces and all that) but it's a very tasty one.

I also absolutely LOVE their beer-battered fries. I like my fries thin and crunchy and theirs is just that. The beer batter makes it even crunchier and gives it a nice flavor.

I did order wings one night for dinner and tried the Sharon Harris, the Sweet Habanero, and the BBQ. The sweet habanero and the BBQ were just okay, nothing special. But I loved the Sharon Harris--it's vinegary, peppery, and has a bit of heat (I like heat ;]).

I've never actually eaten IN the restaurant, but it always seems busy. And all the employees are very friendly. This place is a great hole-in-the-wall find! If you want delivery, just go to http://919dine.com!

Coming from two people that constantly eat and rate wings so far these are the best in the area! Try the Sharon Harris and ask or the Ghost Pepper you won't be disappointed! Hardest thing was finding the place tucked into the back of a shopping center. The atmosphere felt like Cheers or your favorite Irish pub and the service was friendly and efficient. Can't say enough great things and have been CRAVING the wings ever since!

We rolled in here on a drizzly Sunday and had to turn around a couple times since it is tucked away in the corner of a nearly defunct strip mall.

We opted to sit at the bar, and there was one other couple dining in the restaurant.

For those of you that know me...I'm all about some wings.

I wanted to start with something healthy so Brit and I ordered the "side" salad.

A mammoth salad came out, iceburg galore with some small garnish vegetables to add a bit of flavor to the watery crunch of iceburg. The balsamic vinagrette was pretty thin, and was way over spiced. It was almost inedible with the amount of spice in the concoction.

They were running a special on the 25 piece wing order. The wings showed up and upon inital appearance were in my opinion over sauced. This always leads me to believe that something was being hidden. over aged wings, discoloration etc.

The wings are crispy and moist, some broken bones which isn't all that fun to deal with, but for the most part way too much sauce. It masks any flavor of the chicken and the after a bit the crunch is lost as the wings become soggy.

The flavors that we had - Jaimaican Jerk, Sweet Habanero and Sweet and Spicy Thai Chili were all well balanced and tasted pretty good. However the wings were turned into a vehicle to deliver sauce to your mouth instead of vice versa.

Not bad, not the greatest. For a local option, they were a 3 stars.

I do want to knock the female bartender who started bad-mouthing some call in orders while we were there. No one, especially customers should overhear a staff member calling customers stupid. No matter how frustrating or rude customers are and can be, the rest of the establishment customers should not think..."Hmm, I wonder what they'll say when we leave?" It's unprofessional and left a pretty bad taste in our mouths (even more so than the balsamic dressing).

Nothing fancy...but the wings are awesome. So nice to go to a place where hot means hot. I envision many a Sunday afternoon during football season here. Loved it and so did the kids.

been coming here for years back when it was Em'R'Wings. truth be told...i had a little crush on the server 10 years ago Jessie. well...she's gone, now it's apex wings and who knows whatever happened to jesse. no matter, the wings still are awesome. i love the shearon harris wings. the tater tots are great, as are the potato wedges, as are the beer battered fries, as are the burgers. ok, fine...everything is great.
that enough of a review for you?

Ive had many wings from many places in my time. Im yet to have wings better than these. Seriously, the wings are that good. Big fresh chicken wings with no breading to ruin them, fried to a crisp, and then doused in the best wing sauce ever. My personal favs are hot, shearon harris, and spicy BBQ. They go best with a beer from Carolina Brewing Company ;)

Formerly 'Em R Wings, but still Apex's best wings and hang-out place.
Not to be missed.

I've been wanting to try this place ever since I saw their sign near the road (when it used to be 'Em R Wings) and finally got over there recently. So glad we did!

From the moment we walked in the place I liked it. Nice set up and atmosphere, very comfortable looking interior, not what I expected from the outside at all. It's has a bar with tables and booths off to the side, but then has another room all to itself if you want a quieter area. Not that it was loud, but it's more intimate in the other area.

I was a little concerned from the get go when we asked the waitress a question and she wasn't sure, said she'd find out, and then never returned. After a while another waitress came to the table to take our order and we told her someone else had stopped by, but when we asked her a question she never came back! Well this one assured us she'd get us the answer AND return, AND she did!

We tried the wings (of course) and were not disappointed! Tried some of the BBQ wings and some of the terriyaki. Both were quite tasty and nice and crispy! We shared the deep fried mushrooms, which turns out are very hard to find in the Triangle area! They were very good too. I also had a bowl of chili, which was good, but quite a bit spicier than I would like.

The owner stopped by and we chatted for a while. Very friendly and easy to joke around with. Got the whole low down on the name change, as another reviewer mentioned. Too bad they had to change it, cos 'Em R Wings was great. Apparently people who used to come when it had the old name think it's not the same owners and their business could be better, so if anyone reads this, please pass that info on. All their recipes are the same, just had to change the name from 'Em R Wings.

All in all, it's quite good and we will be back!

My favorite wing joint! Em-R Wings had to change their name to Apex Wings (something about another restaurant by the same name), but they'll always be Em-R Wings to me. They've changed their sign to one that features a somewhat crazed looking chicken with red rimmed eyes.

This place is a super casual hole on the wall that's usually pretty quiet- you come into this dimly lit place and there are usually a couple of regulars sitting at the bar, and if you turn to the left there's a separate area with tables, booths, and a TV. It's fine for kids and they have no problem accommodating large families.

Onto the wings- I think they're great, not gristly or slimy like other wings! I like to order mine Hot for a nice peppery kick, and "extra well done" so they're nice and crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. The Shearon Harris wings always come to our table with jalepenos on top, but maybe just to differentiate them from the Hot wings. If you're daring they have a wings challenge: http://apexwings.com/win…

They also have sandwiches, hot dogs, and the like on the menu, but I've never gotten them- I have a policy of if I'm at a place with "wings' in the bar name, I'm sure as heck not getting something else. I also haven't had the wings that don't have a buffalo style sauce, as buffalo style is their specialty.

There's one older waitress who's a bit curmudgeonly, but everyone else is quite friendly. Just adds to the charm of the place.

I was stoked at the thought of finding a local wings place as an alternative to Buffalo Wild Wings and the other chains and I was encouraged by the good reviews, but the wings were a disappointment.

Service was fine and the beer battered fries weren't bad, but it really comes down to whether or not the wings were good, and they weren't, at least not this batch. We tried the BBQ, Sweet Habanero, Jamaican Jerk, and Medium. The BBQ were smothered in really sweet sauce, the Medium were just ok, and I didn't like the flavors of the Jerk and Habanero. I would try other flavors but the meat on all the wings was just dry.

I will have to keep looking for a local wings spot.

we had a few reservations as we walked in. we spotted em-r by seeing a sign propped up in the back of a pickup. all those reservations went away very quickly...

very nice wings. the menu had a large selections of other items for those not willing to jump in for wings and even veggies.

one thing that we felt as we walked in was that we felt welcome. service was very nice, courteous and patient. we went thru multiple iterations of what we wanted but we finally settled on getting two different wings (hot and shearon harris) and a slew of fried goodness. my wife got the spicy chicken sandwich.

the wings themselves were cooked very nicely and were juicy and crispy for the most part. the flavor on the hot was better than the shearon harris. my only complaint, and this is just personal preference, was that the sauce had a bit too much vinegar in it. the other folks enjoyed their sandwiches and fried veggies. the fried okra was huge hit and if i wasn't full off of wings, i would've had more of that.

there was a decent beer selection and the pitcher we got (magic hat) was very nice and helped out w/ the heat of the wings.

we all walked away happy and full...

Outstanding wings! Went there with a total of 6 people (among them a three year old), 2 of which were vegetarian. All of us loved the place.

They offer great wings (we thought the Shearon Harris sauce was a little vinegary, but all the other sauces were excellent!). They make the sauce there themselves, and the wings are pretty meaty, generously covered in sauce, and served hot and tasty.

My three year old had the corn dog, which was a lot of coctail weenie corn dogs, she loved 'em, and they came with lots of tater tots as well.

They offer pitchers of beer, and have a decent selection of micro-brews (we have magic hat, they also have carolina, and a few others)

The vegetarians among us had the appetizers, a smattering of fried okra, fried cheese, and a few other things (including fries). They also offer a grilled cheese sandwich (we didn't get one of those).

Overall, I'd say that this place is much better than Buffalo Wings and Rings in Morrisville, and Wing Stop Cafe in Raleigh/Briar Creek. It's a bit hard to find though (its behind an Ace Hardware off of Davis Drive in Apex), and is kind of a hole-in-the wall.

I'll be going back again with friends, and recommend you do also!

Great traditional style chicken wings and american/bbq. HOMEMADE EVERYTHING (almost). Great tea, cold beer, good service, fresh and they never run out of wings.
Place is nothing special, but it's comfortable enough and has a typical throw-back feel to the slow, good 'ol southern style of living.
TV's, beer, friendly, booths.

Kind of hard to find as it's tucked back in a shopping center. It's worth asking if you can't find it, this place knows wings better than ANYONE in the triangle.
