The first three times I went to Archie's I loved it. Good atmosphere, funny people including drunk senior citizens, not too expensive. However, the last time I went, we got some "locals only" b.s. from a couple of scumbags sitting next to us at the bar. Fine, you can have Archie's all to yourself, I don't have time for that kind of nonsense.
Review Source:Ah yes, "The Cheese". Haven't been here in a while but in the time I hung here it was the very basic definition of "townie dive bar". The taps probably haven't been cleaned in...ever, the peanuts in the quarter machine have grubs crawling on them, and the bathroom is in a basement that feels like in belongs in a different building altogether (think old clothing shop).
Come here to drink (bottled) beers cheaply, and enjoy the company of Jenkintown's professional alcoholics. Tip often enough (and maybe buy a round or two) and be crowned King Of The Neighborhood. My ex lived stumbling distance from this hole and we came here often. Things are making a lot more sense, now...
This place is great. Can get weird with the older drunks but I count that as a good thing. Food is surprisingly good, drinks are cheap and the crowd is usually pretty good. Its a bar, I wouldn't recommend for a first date dinner or anything (for that try West Ave Grill but then go over to Archie's after for a good time).
