I really want to love this place since it is in walking distance and I drink plenty of beer. The beer selection is good, the place itself is nice. I love the roll up windows, big fan, tv's all over the place.
The service is always poor. I keep going back, because it is close, and am constantly disappointed. The food is also not very good. I haven't had anything that I would eat again, but it was all edible.
This place would probably benefit from new management or a Bar Rescue.
So we were up for a show recently, and had a tale of two bars with the Keswick Tavern. Pre-show we walked in to a wall of noise and a packed, somewhat jerky crowd that wasn't willing to let someone shoulder up to place a bar order, and a hostess that told us as we walked in "we're full up". Welcoming, not so much. So we bounced across the street to a very groovy byob Chinese spot.
Post-show we looked in (quite parched I must say) and the scene was completely changed. A very chill atmosphere, a few open seats, and a funny couple guys singing '70s cover tunes. They had personality, so there's that. The beer selection was decent, and the cocktails were of an acceptable strength - though the bartenders lacked personality and attentiveness. And, come to think of it, the drinks were a bit expensive.
So, at least you can drink while you're there?
