This restaurant is situated right on the border of Philadelphia and Cheltenham Township in the Wyncote Towers Community. Â I have considered going on several occasions but never got around to it. Â I was lounging at the pool the other day and thought I'd like to take a break and grab a cold beer. Â It was super convenient. Â I sat at the bar and the service was excellent. Â The young woman behind the bar was professional, attentive and very pleasant. Â The beer selection left something to be desired but the basics were there. Â I ordered some wings for my Mother to go so as not to return to the pool empty handed. Â The wings were way too saucy. Â But wings are wings right? Â I enjoyed my service so much that I decided to give the full dining experience a try the next day. Â To my chagrin...there was no server! Â I met a friend for lunch and was so embarrassed since I chose the venue and my guest had come over 20 miles to meet me there.
We were served by a sweet but frazzled little old woman who identified herself as the book keeper WUUUUUUUUT?!!! Though my guest and myself were both servers and therefore not prone to judgement, it was one of the most uncomfortable meals ever. She was unable to pour so much as a soft drink or even carry the plates. We felt guilty even ordering anything because she was trying desperately to grant our requests. The kitchen staff spoke no English so she was unable to even ask them details about the menu items. The Coke was flat and I opened my beer myself. Â
Then the food...I ordered a simple shrimp scampi. Â Easy right? Â Pasta, white wine, lemon, garlic...one problem...The shrimp are supposed to be fresh. Â I felt terrible sending it back due to the circumstances so I choked down a few bites of the fishy pasta and wrapped it to go with every intention on trashing it promptly. Â
Now for the check...unfortunately whomever was scheduled to serve had absconded and left no further direction. Â The lady was unable to use the POS so we received a hand written check and she asked to write down my guest's card number to have someone run later. Â OH NOOOOO! Â The whole thing was a mess. Â I don't know if I would ever go back...not to mention I was a little ill after those no bueno shrimp. Â At the very least it's poorly managed but that experience demonstrated an indifference I am not accustomed to in a city with so much competition. Â Get your weight up Primo! Â And for the rest of you...Don't do it to yourself. Â Just hit Chestnut Hill instead.
After receiving a http://Restaurant.com certificate as a gift to Primo Bacio, I decided to give it a try. The decor was attractive, however the food was not. The waitress never asked my daughter and I if we'd like a beverage other than the complimentary water they poured. We ordered calamari as an appetizer and they were OK at best (even according to a 6 year old who knows her calamari!). When her food arrived, she took two bites and decided that she didn't like it so we sent it back. A man, I assume the manager or owner, then comes over to ask her why she didn't like her food. Who does that?! She's a child but, nevertheless, she told him what was wrong and ordered a pizza. My crab cakes FINALLY come and they- along with the accompanying vegetables and potatoes- were very under seasoned. I sent my plate back, no to go box! Overall, the food is not the greatest and neither was the service. And- to top it off- they were no longer accepting the http://Restaurant.com certificates! I tried something different and, as my daughter said, "we should've went to Olive Garden!".
